Second Example Of Older Houses In Downtown Dickinson

This is my second example of an older home in downtown Dickinson, North Dakota.  This particular home is located approximately one block south of the Courthouse.

I believe that this home was built between 1910 to 1935.  This is another example of Colonial a.k.a. Georgian architecture.  You will see houses almost identical to this one in the old downtown neighborhoods in Daytona, Savannah, Pueblo, Flagstaff, Idaho Falls, or Uvalde, Texas, anywhere that I have been.

One of the reasons why houses almost identical to this one appear in every town, is because this may have been one of the house plans available from Sears Roebuck & Co.  From approximately 1908 through 1940, you could order house plans and complete house kits from Sears Roebuck & Co.  Perform a Google search, type in “Sears Roebuck & Co. Kit Homes”, and near the top of the first page of search results the websites “The Arts &Crafts Society” and “www.searsarchives.com/homes” have archives of all these house designs and plans.

This house was probably built before there were televisions in people’s homes.  Any time of day, people would sit out on the porch.  In the morning to read the paper, in the afternoon to take a break, in the evening to socialize, and at night to cool off when the house was still hot inside.  This house appears to have an upstairs porch too.  At night, the homeowner could lay on an outside lounge on the upstairs porch, and stare up at the stars, and if he was Mormon, could wonder what planet he would become god of.

The People In Dickinson Don’t Know What They Are Going To Experience

Since moving to downtown Dickinson a couple of months ago, I have been able to ride my bicycle more than when I was living outside of town north of Dickinson.  Now, it is easy for me to ride my bicycle to the Post Office, grocery store, hardware store, and restaurants.

While zigzagging my way through the old downtown neighborhoods in Dickinson on my bicycle, I had a chance to pay more attention to the houses than when I was driving.  I was sorry that I hadn’t noticed before how many interesting old houses there are in downtown Dickinson.

I wanted to take photographs of some of the old homes in downtown Dickinson.  I thought that it would be easier and safer for me to do this on a bicycle ride, rather than driving one of my vehicles.  I was aware that it would probably upset a homeowner if they saw someone taking a photograph of their home, and that no amount of explaining would make it O.K. with them.  I tried to think of the best time for me to photograph without upsetting anyone, but there really was no best time.

On this past Sunday afternoon when I went on a bicycle ride in order to take photographs, I found that the inhabitants of the old downtown neighborhoods in Dickinson didn’t even like me riding through their neighborhoods.  They were watching me with suspicion even before I came to a stop and took out my camera.  From the way that they were behaving, I sensed that photographing someone’s home half a block away from them would have caused some of these residents to go berserk.  I had to pass by many nice homes without being able to photograph them.

I tried to look at it from their point of view.  There have been a lot of thefts from garages and vehicles in downtown Dickinson.  The thefts are probably committed by scraggly meth addicts on foot and on bicycles.  I can understand this, I have felt the same way about passersby in the places that I have lived.

There was really nothing that I could say or do to not make these homeowners uncomfortable.  They would have been just as suspicious or even more suspicious if they saw me come to a stop in front of their house in a vehicle, take photographs, and then drive off.  I understand that they are concerned about their house, their possessions, and what is going on.

Later on Sunday, I went on another bike ride for exercise and for something to do.  This time I rode through the blue collar worker, lower middle class neighborhoods just beyond the oldest downtown neighborhoods.  The residents of these blue collar neighborhoods acted suspicious of me too, and as if they didn’t like me riding through their neighborhoods.  It seemed like these blue collar workers were probably just as concerned about their new expensive vehicles, as they were about their homes and other belongings.

In the old downtown neighborhoods, and in the blue collar neighborhoods, I got the impression that the homeowners are proud of what they have, protective of what they have, and fearful of losing any of what they have.  So much so, that even a person riding by on a bicycle is a threat to them.

I believe that these homeowners don’t know what is going to happen in Dickinson.  From my reading and learning about what happened in Dickinson during the oil boom of the 1950s, and the oil boom of the late 1970s, these two previous oil booms each lasted about eight years, and after they were over, there were massive job losses, jobs were scarce, jobs were low wage, housing prices dropped by 60%, and people walked away from their houses because they owed so much more than their houses were worth.

In Dickinson, the retirees and the people who were planning on retiring, to live off a combination of savings, investments, social security, and pensions, these people will be O.K.   The non-retired homeowners with mortgages and expensive vehicle payments, they will not be O.K.  These people will have a difficult time making their monthly payments because they may lose their job, or their wages will become lower and lower.  At the same time they are having difficulty making their monthly payments, they will find that they still owe $140,000 on their house, and it is now worth $100,000.

House payments of $1,100 to $1,600 per month on a house that is worth way less than you owe, truck payments of $900 to $1,100 per month on a truck that is worth less than you owe.  And the best job you can get, if you are lucky, take home pay is $2,500 per month.  I don’t think that the people in Dickinson know what is going to happen.

Older Houses In Downtown Dickinson, North Dakota

In order to display the character of the older section of downtown Dickinson, North Dakota, I am going to show photographs of houses in several blog posts.

The oldest section of downtown Dickinson is approximately twenty blocks wide east to west, and approximately twenty blocks long north to south.

The above photograph shows an older home that is located several blocks north of the courthouse.  I would estimate that it was built between 1910 to 1935.  It is not the most fancy or ornate of the older downtown homes, but it is very typical in size, style, and appearance.  I took the photograph of this particular house, because I believe that this is an example of Colonial a.k.a. Georgian architecture, only done in a very minimal way.

(I had some difficulty in photographing homes in Dickinson.  Neighbors across the street and down the block did not like me even coming to a stop, not even having gotten my camera out yet.  I had to skip photographing some houses because there were too many people around, taking an interest in what I was doing before I even had a chance to photograph anything.  I think that next time, I should probably notify the Dickinson Police ahead of time that I will be taking photos, because I am sure the police were called.)

The Lower Middle Class Neighborhoods In Dickinson Are Nicer Than The Upper Middle Class Neighborhoods In Idaho

In my previous blog post, I described and explained that the lower middle class neighborhoods in Dickinson, North Dakota are very attractive and well maintained, more so than the upper middle class neighborhoods in Dickinson.

I have lived in Dickinson, North Dakota for approximately five years now.  Prior to this, I lived in the Snake River Valley of southeastern Idaho, Rexburg, Rigby, Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, Pocatello for five years.  This area of Idaho is predominantly Mormon.

If you know anything about Mormons, you know that they try to be neat, clean, and tidy in everything they do.  So it should seem not possible that the lower middle class neighborhoods in Dickinson, North Dakota would be nicer than the middle class and upper middle class neighborhoods in Idaho.  But this is the case, and I want to explain why.  I want to describe this so that people in Dickinson and everywhere else in the United States can understand what was going on economically.

  1. During the North Dakota oil boom that began in 2007, the housing prices in Dickinson doubled and tripled in just a few years.  The Dickinson homeowners suddenly had a great deal of equity in their homes, which could be borrowed against for home repair, renovation, improvement, and additions.  In contrast, the home values in Idaho went down.
  2. During the North Dakota oil boom that began in 2007, many or most of the blue collar workers in Dickinson had their pay double, mostly because of regularly working many overtime hours.  This extra money was used by Dickinson homeowners to pay for repairs, renovations, improvements, and additions.  In contrast, during this same time in Idaho the economy was in a recession, with many people losing their jobs, and there being a scarcity of jobs.
  3. In North Dakota during the oil boom, especially in Dickinson, there were many families living in town who began receiving money dispersements from oil wells on family owned property outside of town.  It was very, very common in Dickinson, that a grandparent would receive oil revenue checks every month, and be able to give every adult child, and every grandchild several thousand dollars, or more, each year during the oil boom.  Many families in Dickinson put this extra money into home repairs, renovations, improvements, and additions.  In contrast, in Idaho during this time many people had their homes foreclosed on for lack of having a job and a means to make their mortgage payments.
  4. In North Dakota during the oil boom, homeowners in Dickinson finished off their homes with additions, sun rooms, decks, fences, new garages, and new driveways.  In Idaho during this time, many new homes that were being completed never had decks, driveways, sprinkler systems, or landscaping put in because people did not have the money to pay for these things.

Right now in Dickinson in the lower middle class neighborhoods, it would not be an exaggeration to say that there is a new $50,000 truck in every driveway, because in some driveways there are two of them, and some are $60,000.  In Idaho, most doctors, dentists, and lawyers do not own trucks or vehicles as expensive as the new four-door, four wheel drive, lifted, 3/4 ton-1 ton trucks that are prevalent in the lower middle class neighborhoods in Dickinson.

Don’t try to come to Dickinson now!  The oil boom is over.  There is a scarcity of jobs in Dickinson now, with a strong hiring preference for people who are from Dickinson.  You missed it.  But if you would have been here, the least expensive old one bedroom apartments rented for $1,500 per month, if you could even find one available.  The homes in the lower middle class neighborhoods got up to $250,000 to $400,000, so you would not have been living in one of these homes.

Review Of First On First July 13 Concert In Dickinson, North Dakota

For the past four years I have been going to the downtown concerts in Dickinson, North Dakota on Thursday afternoons in the summer.  The concerts used to be called “Alive At 5”, but last year they changed the name to “First On First”.  The Odd Fellows Lodge organizes, runs, and comes up with the funding for the events.

Because I started a new job in the beginning of June, and I had to work out of town, this is the first downtown summer concert that I was able to go to this year, besides the July 3rd concert at the Paragon Bowling Alley.

At the First On First concerts, the streets are closed at 4:00 p.m. from the Rock Bar down to Bernie’s Esquire Club.  A stage is set up, various food vendors set up, a kid’s bounce house is inflated, and several outdoor bars are set up.  There is no charge for admission, it is open to all ages of people, pets are allowed, and neighborhood animals come.

I would like to first list the local celebrities that were in attendance.  “Wild Bill” Palanuk, local radio show host, and radio, television, and video narrator.  Kevin Holten, director of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall Of Fame and host of the television show “Cowboy Moments”.  Brock White, DJ and Master of Ceremonies.  Bernie Marsh, owner of Bernie’s Esquire Club and father of Marinna Marsh who is known world wide for her beauty.  Tracy Tooz, owner of Tooz Construction and organizer/sponsor of First On First.  Beni Paulson, Board of Directors High Plains Culture Center and member of Outlaw Sippin band.  Emil “The Edge” Anheluk, North Dakota Ukrainian Dance Association president and lead accordion player with Outlaw Sippin band.

Kristi Schwartz, president of Downtown Dickinson Association and owner of Allstate Insurance.  Kathy Fisher, owner of the Rock Bar.  Marchell Kubas, “List Of Attractive Women In Dickinson”.

The second aspect of this past Thursday’s First On First concert that I want to point out, is that this is one of the very few times and places in Dickinson where you will see attractive women.  Attractive women come to this event like birds to a bird bath or bird feeder.

There was quite a range of attractive women.  There were dignified housewives and professional women that wore nice light weight summer dresses or business slacks.  There were nice housewives and single women that wore jeans or walking shorts.  There were women that were seeking attention that wore shorter dresses, shorter shorts, and tops that could be revealing if they “weren’t paying attention”, accidentally on purpose.

There were Skank women that came to this event, women of dis-repute, and young women that would soon be women of dis-repute.  As far as I was concerned, there were three regionally infamous women of dis-repute at this event, which were entertaining to watch, from a distance.  You have to be out of range of how far they could spill a drink, which is how far they could throw a drink.  They wear revealing clothing, such as short shorts, small tank tops, and cut off sleeveless shirts.  They have to be out in front where every one can see them, and be the center of attention, and they become a spectacle when they get drunk.

On Wednesday I had observed a tall thin woman about 30 years old walking across a parking lot.  I was so attracted to her that I wanted to go right up to her and talk to her, but I was stuck talking to my former room mate who drove up and was telling me about his health problems.  She walked about as fast as a Bigfoot, with very long, quick strides, and I knew that I would have a hard time catching up to her, as my former room mate babbled on.

I felt that no one could tell it but me, that this girl was about as attractive as a model.  She was wearing eye glasses, had her hair tied back, was wearing baggy jeans, and a T-shirt, but I could tell that she was tall, thin, well proportioned, had a pretty face, nice complexion, pretty hair, that she was healthy, and I could tell what her personality was like, from having met women like her before.  Out of nervousness and not thinking, she waved at me.  But she got out of range, I didn’t want to head her off with my vehicle.

Serendipitously, I saw this tall, thin, model like girl at the First On First concert on Thursday.  I didn’t want to run right up to her, and scare her, and embarrass myself.  She bought a ticket to go in the VIP corral, and though I would be allowed in if I asked Brock White or Tracey Tooz, I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of everyone in the VIP and scare her off.  I waited for a better chance to talk to her.

Finally, I stopped her as she was coming out of the Rock Bar.  I explained that I had seen her yesterday, and that I wanted to talk to her because I thought that she was attractive, but that I was stuck talking to my former room mate.  She made me explain where this was, and why I thought that this was her, and I explained everything in detail enough that she was flattered that I had remembered her in such detail, and that I must have in fact wanted to meet her.  She was from Washington State, and she had been here in Dickinson for two months.  I talked to her for about ten minutes, and I let her go, saying that I hoped to see her again.

I interjected this personal story, to explain that the First On First concerts are a chance for people to meet and talk to people that they see or deal with in Dickinson during the day, but don’t have the opportunity to have a conversation with otherwise.  Also, it is an opportunity to make an ass of yourself, like I have almost done.  On more than one occasion, I had picked out a girl that I liked, and I wanted to approach, convinced in my mind that this was a good idea, and it turned out that everyone there knew that she was married but me, or that she was a drunk and everyone knew it but me, or that she was a low Skank, not even a fancy Skank, and everyone there knew it but me.

This First On First, I would characterize it as “very balanced” in every way.  The music was not too loud, the people were spread out evenly across the whole downtown area, there were equal and moderate lines at every food vendor and alcohol bar.  There were young and old people, a variety of dog breeds, professional people, blue collar people, retirees, disabled, hippies, high school kids, college students, out of state people, local people, yuppies, farmers, ranchers, and red necks.  Since every one was spread out across the downtown event area, there were no conflicts or fights, even though a great deal of alcohol was sold.

Three bands performed from 5:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.  I would estimate that the number of people at the Rock Bar, Bernie’s Esquire Club, The Odd Fellows VIP lounge and corral, and the event area between 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. stayed at approximately 700 people.  Even though I do not like the Dickinson Police following me around when I am driving, they are very helpful at the concerts and events in Dickinson.  At events like the Hairball concert, the Paragon Bowling Alley concert, and the First On First concerts, the events go so much smoother when the Dickinson Police are there, because the drunk people actually make the decision that they are not going to fight, grab a hold of people, damage property, and have a tirade, because they don’t want to be tasered, handcuffed, and taken to jail.

The End Of A Work Week In Dickinson, North Dakota

If you have been reading my blog posts for the past couple of weeks, you will have read some descriptions and details about how things have been going at my new job that I started five weeks ago.  I was very let down and disappointed that what I thought was going to be a good job at a good company, turned out to be the exact opposite.

Besides complaining about the company that I started to work for, I very nearly could not work because my eyes swelled up to where I could not see due to allergies.  I made it through that, but just barely.  My co-worker/supervisor for a number of reasons, did not want to help me do the work, and began to come to work less and less, to the point that he did not come to work at all yesterday.  The company that I work for, is unaware of this, but the oil company that we are doing the work for, is aware that I have been working mostly by myself, though I am not supposed to be.

I have been working out of town, two hours away from Dickinson.  There is an even greater shortage of women, restaurants, stores, and things to do where I am working, than in Dickinson.  On the drive home to Dickinson this Friday, there is nothing that I was looking forward to in Dickinson.  There are no friends or prospective girl friends that I was looking forward to seeing, no where that I was looking forward to eating, nothing that I wanted to buy, and nothing that I wanted to do.

When I got home in Dickinson, I checked my e-mail.  There was nothing too important or alarming.  I had an e-mail that my on-line pay check record could be viewed.  I looked at my net pay check, and it was disappointingly low.  Looking at it some more, I saw that my company had shorted me 8.5 hours of overtime pay.

I wrote a letter to the company pay roll person, writing down the hours that I worked each day, and my total hours.  I planned on dropping this letter off on Saturday or Monday.  Also, there was withholding for “New Hire”, which I did not understand.

As I thought about it some more, I realized that the company was going to try to not pay me for drive time, which began to make me angry.  I have to wake up at 2:00 a.m. on Monday, to leave at 3:00 a.m., to drive two hours until 5:00 a.m., which is 6:00 a.m. in that time zone, and then work until 5:00 p.m. in that time zone, which is 6:00 p.m. in Dickinson.  In other words, I start driving at 3:00 a.m., and I don’t get done with work until 15 hours later, that’s right 15 hours later.  On my time sheet, my supervisor writes down 12 hours for Monday, but the accounting women and the owner’s wife, just assume that because it is a two hour drive, they will just go ahead and take two hours off that 12 hours.

I could inconvenience the company owner and his wife by filing a small claims suit or a complaint with the Department of Labor, for the money that I am not being paid, but I would probably lose, because this is North Dakota.  The company owner and his wife have a lot of news stories about them because they are so amazingly successful, benevolent, charitable, and run everything so well.  I am seeing and experiencing the exact opposite.

I have to weigh out what I want to do.  Saying or writing what I would really like to do, would only cause me unnecessary problems and not get me anywhere.  The only smart and rational thing for me to do, would be to find another job.

I looked at North Dakota Job Service, Indeed, and LinkedIn, to try to find another job.  There are very few jobs in Dickinson now, very, very few jobs.

I write about things like this in blog posts, because I am frustrated, but also to write what is actually happening.  If anyone came to Dickinson, they would experience the same thing, and perhaps even worse.  Most people would go to the liquor store or to the bar on a Friday evening like this.  This is why most out of state workers get a DUI in Dickinson.  It sucks here so bad, but you can’t drink, or the police will get you.

There Aren’t Even Any Skank Girls In Western North Dakota

I have lived in Western North Dakota for almost five years now. I have written many blog posts about the shortage of women and the scarcity of attractive women in Western North Dakota. About one year ago I wrote a blog post titled, “List Of Attractive Women In Dickinson, North Dakota”. On that list, I have included three women from Watford City, one woman from Belfield, one woman from South Heart, two women from Amidon, and about ten women from Dickinson. I have only been able to come up with about twenty attractive women in Western North Dakota, and I have been here for five years.

I thought about attractive women that I could add to my List Of Attractive Women, being careful to not include any skank women, and then I realized that there aren’t even any skank women in Western North Dakota. About one month ago I wrote a blog post titled, “Skank Women From The South”. In that blog post I had intended to point out and explain that there aren’t any skank women in Western North Dakota, but I only managed to describe skank women.

Skank women start out in life being underprivileged. They are often pale and skinny as children and adolescents because they don’t have access to very much food, and they don’t get to go outside and play in the sun. Also, they sometimes have scars from a car accident, animal attack, or other mishap. When they become teenagers, they sometimes blossom into attractive young ladies, but they are poor, and not from respectable families, so they are not destined to be a cheerleader, homecoming queen, or go to college and be in a sorority. Sometimes, they have a stigma attached to them because their mother was so wild, or their father was a criminal.

As all good respectable women know, their husband, boyfriend, brother, or son can become involved with a skank woman. Skank women did not have a lot growing up, they did not have high expectations in life, they only expected to have small pleasures in life, such as going out, getting drunk, and having the affection and company of men.

Skank women are not necessarily trashy. If I wanted to talk about white trash women, I would say that I was talking about white trash women. White trash women are the next level below skank women. Now that I think about it, there aren’t even hardly any white trash women in Western North Dakota.

In Western North Dakota, besides the twenty attractive women on my list, it skips straight down past the skank women level, straight past the white trash women level, and stops at one of two lower levels, the battle axe women, and the drug addict women.

Just like there is a scarcity of attractive women, there is a scarcity of plain average women, and you mainly see women that are the battle axe women, the women with big ankles, ham fists, and scowling faces, that look like somebody hits them in the face with the flat side of a 1”x4” board every morning. The other women that you mainly see are the drug addict, problem women, that came from Los Angeles, Los Vegas, Spokane, or Coeur d’Alene.

The South is full of skank women. They work at banks, book keeping, retail stores, offices, and in health care. They are easy to meet and talk to. You meet them at the places where they work, at any store you go to, any place you go: convenience stores, gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, Wal-Mart, laundromats, dry cleaners, the beach. They don’t go to the gym, or go to church.

Skank women like getting asked out. If they got asked out nicely three times in one day, they would probably agree to go out on three different dates. They look forward to getting slightly dressed up, to meet someone for dinner at a restaurant, or drinks at a bar. They like meeting people, going places, and doing things. They see going out with people as an opportunity to do all kinds of things that they like: eating good food, having good drinks, getting drunk, dancing, making friends, going new places, seeing other people’s nice clothes, jewelry, cars, motorcycles, boats, animals, and homes. They like to have fun, they look forward to having fun.

The battle axe women in Western North Dakota want to make everyone miserable, most of the time, they are like ogres or trolls. The problem drug addict women that came to Western North Dakota from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Spokane, and Coeur D’Alene to work at the bars, restaurants, and hotels just want to get high on meth, crack, or heroin.

If You Come To Work In Dickinson, North Dakota, You Must Plan On Leaving

If you come to work in Dickinson, North Dakota, you must plan on leaving.  This is probably the most important advice that I could give to anyone.

I first came to work in Dickinson from Idaho, in 2011.  I have lived in Dickinson for almost five years now.  Something that I now realize was a mistake, was that once I had been here for a while, I tried to settle in, to be comfortable, and I tried to make a life here.

When I first came to Dickinson in 2011, I ended up staying in my truck camper on company property where I was working.  My goal was to make as much money as possible, and then return to my home in Idaho when I had made enough money.  I brought over one extra vehicle, so that I could drive around after work and on weekends without moving my truck camper.  Making money, saving money, and bringing just the bare minimum of personal belongings to Dickinson, these were all good ideas that I should have continued to follow.

When I came back to Dickinson in 2013, by the winter I had moved into a house.  I purchased an additional vehicle in Dickinson.  I bought a couple of kayaks.  I bought some mountain bikes.  I later brought over from Idaho, two extra trucks, two equipment trailers, and construction equipment.  I began doing self employed construction work, in addition to my other job.

Instead of making money, saving money, and going back to Idaho when I had made enough money, I tried to make a life here in Dickinson.  I tried to have a normal life in Dickinson, because it looked like I was going to be here for several years.  I began trying to do things that I enjoyed doing elsewhere, riding my bike, kayaking, fishing, going to the gym, going to restaurants and bars, trying to meet women, driving jeeps out to nowhere.  This turned out to be a mistake, trying to make a life in Dickinson.

I have been writing blog posts for a little over 2-1/2 years, and I have written very few good things about Dickinson, and many, many bad things about Dickinson, North Dakota.  Primarily, the local people are unfriendly, uncooperative, hostile, hateful, uneducated, very greedy, and they raised housing prices 400% to 500% to gouge the out of state workers.  There is a shortage of women and a scarcity of attractive women.  The restaurants are not very good, and the waitresses and bartenders hate their jobs, hate their customers, hate white men, and hate Dickinson.  The police follow everyone leaving restaurants and bars hoping and trying to arrest them for something.

I tried to make a life here in Dickinson, and this was a mistake.  Dickinson is not normal, and it is never going to be normal.  There will always be a scarcity of attractive women in Dickinson.  The restaurants and bars will always be bad with waitresses and bartenders that hate their job and hate their customers.  The people here will always be unfriendly, uncooperative, hostile, and hateful.  I guess that I thought that I would try to persevere, and try to make things as bearable as possible while I was living here in Dickinson.

Things are so bad in Dickinson now, that I can now see that I had made a mistake when I changed my plans from working, saving, and leaving, to trying to do things, have things, and become involved in things here in Dickinson.

There are very few job openings in Dickinson now, even though this is the busiest hiring month in Dickinson.  My job is not very busy, and I am not making very much money.  Once I had brought extra vehicles, trailers, and equipment to Dickinson, my local landlord began being difficult and causing problems, thinking that I was stuck here, and that I could not leave.  Once I started taking my extra vehicles and equipment back to Idaho in preparation for moving out, my landlord changed his attitude.

Without having some of my equipment that I moved back to Idaho, in order to do my self employed construction work, I had to re-buy equipment from local businesses that I had bought this equipment from last year.  I was shocked recently when two local business owners that I had bought equipment from last year, were very nasty to me when I talked to them about buying more equipment from them.  I regretted having spent over $1,200 at these two local businesses.

These two local business owners being so nasty, caused me to think about what I am doing in Dickinson.  Just about every involvement with anything and anyone in Dickinson has been negative.  The local people are so unfriendly, the women are unattractive and unfriendly, the waitresses and bartenders are so unfriendly, the local business owners are nasty, and the police follow everyone around trying to arrest them for something, I guess that it was a mistake in trying to make a life here.  I just should have brought the bare minimum of belongings over here to Dickinson, and tried to have as little involvement as possible in Dickinson.

I recommend to out of state workers, do not move to Dickinson, just plan on staying here while you have a job.  Do not buy a house in Dickinson.  Do not pay a lot for housing, get just the bare minimum for housing.  Try to get a lease that allows you to break your lease by giving notice and paying a penalty.  Try to bring a minimum of belongings to Dickinson.  Be ready to leave Dickinson.  Try to make as much money as possible, to save as much money as possible, and to spend as little as possible.  While you are here, try to research some place better to move to.

After living in Dickinson for almost five years, with everything that I have seen, learned, and experienced, you can’t have a normal life, or a good life here in Dickinson.  Don’t get trapped here because you have bought a house which you will be unable to sell, or because you have spent your money on a new car, motorcycle, or boat.  Plan on saving your money so that you will be able to leave.  Don’t accidentally get trapped here in Dickinson.

I Want To Be The Dead Chicken Around Your Neck

In my previous two blog posts I wrote about the Miss North Dakota USA pageant.  I am so angry and disgusted with the Miss North Dakota USA pageant, that it would be fine with me if Future Productions and Miss USA never came back to North Dakota.  There are some young women and their families that would disagree with me.  They think that they can compete and win, get the publicity, get a scholarship.  Sometimes, you need to withdraw, not participate, not cooperate, oppose, speak out against, and fight some things in order to get them changed, even if it costs you.

Most of the local people in western North Dakota are not going to like what I write.  Though the local people who read my blog may agree with a blog post, or two, or three, if they read more, they will eventually come across more and more things that they don’t like.  They will find things that hit too close to home.

I don’t want to be like the local Chambers of Commerce, that attempt to put everything about western North Dakota in a good light.  I don’t want to be like the Dickinson Press newspaper, only able to report hard facts, and not entirely able to discuss negative things for fear of losing readers, subscribers, advertising, and individual reporters fearing losing their job.

I don’t want to write only things that the people I like will enjoy and agree with.  I don’t want to not write what will make the people I like angry and offended, wanting me to shut up.

I want to be the dead chicken around your neck.  I want to bring up, remind, and keep reminding everyone what happened and is happening in Dickinson, Watford City, and western North Dakota.

(Also, I want what the frog wants, in the Brothers Grimm tale “The Frog King”.)

Summary Of Wickedness And Perversion In Dickinson, North Dakota

I have lived in Dickinson, North Dakota for a little over four years now.  I have been writing blog posts on this website for two years.

I wrote about bits and pieces of things that I saw that I thought I understood.  Some things that were culturally different, some problems, and things that were wrong.  Each of these things that I thought that I saw and understood, and wrote about, as time has passed, I can say that I was not incorrect in my assessment and explanation.

The people here in Dickinson took advantage of the out of state workers tremendously during this past oil boom.  The people in Dickinson have a hatred and hostility for people who are from out of state, and an even stronger hatred for people with an education.  The people in Dickinson also have hatred and hostility for each other.

Psychologists, counselors, and ordinary people have seen that when people are abused, they in turn abuse others.  This happens in families with domestic violence and abuse, this happens in organizations like fraternities that haze inductees, this happens in the military, this happens in company culture.  People repeat what has been done to them.

People in Dickinson were mistreated, taken advantage of, and abused way before this most recent oil boom in 2007.  I am angry at the Catholic Church in Dickinson for not making Christian values, ethics, and morals wide spread and dominant in Dickinson.  I have gone so far as to say that I think that the Catholic Church in Dickinson must be teaching hostility and hatred in Dickinson because it is so prevalent.

I wrote in a recent blog post that Dickinson treats educated people very badly, that the manufacturing companies in Dickinson treat engineers with disrespect in every way, and that this is what the local people want.  I had written in a previous blog post, that the large manufacturing companies in Dickinson have had a practice of paying employees as little as possible in order to keep them from ever getting ahead, ever furthering themselves, ever advancing, or ever being able to leave their job or leave Dickinson.  The regular employees were treated very badly.

So as I started out saying in this blog post, when people are abused and treated badly, they in turn treat others badly.  Should it be any wonder that out of state workers were treated with hatred and hostility?  Should it be any wonder that educated people and engineers are treated with hatred and hostility?  The people here are only repeating what has been done to them.

I want to finish this blog post by citing a very disturbing newspaper article by the Bismarck Tribune from 2005, that illustrates perfectly several of the things that I have been writing about.  This article is about what one of the wealthiest individuals from the wealthiest manufacturing company in Dickinson did.  I want to use this example to show that people at the top in Dickinson abuse and take advantage of people.  I want to use this as an example of lack of Christian morals and ethics.  The people in Dickinson act in accordance with how they have been treated, when they have been treated with a lack of Christian morals and ethics, they do so to others.  Lastly, this hatred of educated people and engineers in Dickinson, which comes from the top, is probably due to the fact that the people at the top don’t want anyone around to know what they are doing.

From the September 2, 2005  Bismarck Tribune article by Blake Nicholson:

“A former Dickinson businessman has been sentenced to five years in prison for possessing child pornography, and ordered to pay restitution to the one known victim and to a hospital children’s center here…

David Fisher, 44, the former head of Fisher Industries and Fisher Martin Inc., admitted in April to possessing two video clips and about two dozen computer files of child pornography in March 2003. In return for his guilty plea, prosecutors dropped charges of sexual exploitation of minors and receipt of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors…

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Dan Hovland also ordered Fisher to pay restitution of $4,860 to the one known victim, a 10-year-old girl whom Fisher had hired to help with office chores. Authorities said six of the child porn images in Fisher’s possession were of the girl. Hochhalter said Fisher also will be responsible for paying future costs of counseling for the victim…”

David Fisher was sentenced to five years in prison.  Note that in exchange for his guilty plea, the charges of sexual exploitation of minors was dropped.  If an out of state worker would have taken six pornographic images of a ten year old girl, he probably would have been sentenced to twenty years in prison.

People Resorting To Sex With Animals In Dickinson, North Dakota

In my previous four blog posts I wrote that the Catholics, Senator Heidi Heitkamp, law enforcement, and the judicial system in western North Dakota have all decided that there is not going to be any prostitution allowed whatsoever, even though there are way more men than women, and prostitution is necessary.  Rather than achieving a glorious state of morality and purity in western North Dakota, it has resulted in adultery, and sexual abuse of animals.

Right now, everybody needs to go read the Jamestown Sun newspaper article dated January 28, 2013 “Horse becomes victim of sexual assault in west North Dakota.”  Go read the article, not only was a horse sexually assaulted, this was not the first time that this happened to a horse in this area, and, it has happened to cattle in this area too.

A quote from this newspaper article reads, “…an illegal act ranchers suggest happens all too often in this area, but rarely gets reported.”

Another quote from this newspaper article reads, “This is not the first time an attack like this has happened. Horse farrier Lee Hecker found his daughter’s older mare on the ground with grease on its “rear-end” this fall.”

Another quote from this newspaper article reads, “Hecker has over the years found evidence of assault on his horses and cows.”

I am so sick of the Catholics in Dickinson.  The Catholics here in Dickinson, instead of having kindness and charity towards others, have hatred and hostility towards others.  Instead of helping the people who arrived here in Dickinson, they took advantage of them in historic proportion.  Just like the Catholics here have got a complete misunderstanding of the teachings of Christianity, which has them believing that they should treat others with hostility, hatred, and abuse, their determined efforts to not allow men the opportunity to have sex with women, has forced the men here to turn to horses and cows for sex.

How To Tell If Your Child Was Fathered By An Out Of State Worker In Dickinson And Watford City, North Dakota

The Catholics, Senator Heidi Heitkamp, law enforcement, and the judicial system all decided that there was not going to be any prostitution allowed when all of the out of state workers moved to western North Dakota for the oil boom and the ratio of men to women in Dickinson became 3:1, and 10:1 in Watford City.  There was nothing that the out of state workers could do but try to seduce the married women and unmarried local women by any means necessary to obtain sex.  Promising them anything and everything, lying to them, tricking them, taking advantage of them, exploiting their vulnerabilities, because they had to if they wanted to have sex.

In order to tell if your child was fathered by an out of state worker, here are some signs to look for:

  1. If your wife had been asking you to fix a fence, wash the windows, trim a tree, clean the gutters out, and your wife quit asking you, and these things got done, and she gave birth nine months later, your child was probably fathered by an out of state worker.
  2. If your child says, “I’m cold”, and it is above 20 degrees Fahrenheit, your child was probably fathered by an out of state worker.
  3. If your child does well in school, likes school, and has a large vocabulary, your child was probably fathered by an out of state worker.
  4. If your child says, “Are y’all fixin to go to the store?”, your child was probably fathered by an out of state worker.
  5. If your child is black, and neither you or your wife is black, your child was probably fathered by an out of state worker.

Are We Supposed To Seduce The Married Women In Dickinson And Watford City, North Dakota?

Are we, the out of state workers, supposed to seduce the married women in Dickinson and Watford City, North Dakota?  The Catholics, Senator Heidi Heitkamp, law enforcement, and the judicial system don’t want there to be any prostitution of any kind whatsoever, so I guess we must be supposed to seduce the married women.

The ratio of men to women in Dickinson is about 3:1, and the ratio of men to women in Watford City is about 10:1.  There are not enough women for everybody to have one, therefore, we must borrow someone else’s, because prostitution is not allowed.

Most of the time, very attractive young ladies with good dispositions already have a boyfriend or husband.  They are so sought after because of their beauty and good personality, that they always either have a boyfriend or are married.  Fortunately, married women are easier to seduce than single women, as I will explain.

Married women, by the fact that they are married, have demonstrated that they like men enough to marry one of them.  If they have been married for at least a few years, they are used to men.  They are used to a man touching them, grabbing them, handling them, having sex with them, sleeping next to them, snoring, being sick around them, being dirty, sweaty, and smelly.  So they are not uncomfortable with men, or the things that men do.

I have written in previous blog posts that all of the housewives, waitresses, and store clerks were tired of being propositioned ten times every day by the truck drivers, construction workers, and oil field workers.  I have written that all of the housewives in Dickinson, Dunn County, and Watford City, hide, they hide, and they try to only go out to do errands and shopping between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in order to avoid all of the male workers who are currently still at work during those hours.  But the housewives try to avoid the male workers, because they actually like some of them, they find some of them to be cute or handsome.

When a married woman sees a strong dirty sweaty construction worker that she thinks is cute or handsome, she starts fantasizing about all the work that she could have him do back at her house.  She starts fantasizing about the strong dirty sweaty construction worker taking her, without asking, (so it’s not her fault), in an animalistic primitive wild lust that she can’t stop, (so it’s not her fault).

The housewives, they have already noticed that some of the out of state workers are cute or handsome, and they have already thought about it.  The housewives that are sometimes the most vulnerable to seduction, according to scientific research, are the ones with a couple of children under the age of eight.  This is because of both a high hormone level at this time, and the fact that they are looking for relief and  escape from their squabbling squealing children.

When you combine the fact that housewives are used to men, are used to having sex, are not scared of sex, are not scared of getting pregnant, find strong sweaty construction workers attractive, have high hormone levels, want an escape from their squealing kids, and, and are probably mad at their husband for something and want to get back at him, you see that housewives are very ready to be borrowed temporarily by out of state workers.

The Catholics could not have set things up any better for the greatest amount of adultery in Dickinson and Watford City, with there being so many men, so few women, and absolutely no prostitutes allowed for the out of state workers.

In my next blog post, I will write about how people in Dickinson and Watford City can tell if their child was fathered by an out of state worker.

Maggie McNeil, The Honest Courtesan, Part II

In my previous blog post I wrote about the website “Maggie McNeil, The Honest Courtesan, frank commentary from an unretired call girl”.

Maggie McNeil is not her real name, it is a pseudonym that she chose for herself to protect her identity.  Maggie McNeil received her B.A. in English, and her M.S. in Library Science.  She became married after graduating and began working as a librarian.  When she became divorced after four years of marriage, she began working as a stripper in New Orleans to pay off debt that she was left with.  While working as a stripper, she found out that she could make more money as a prostitute, so she became a prostitute.

Maggie McNeil writes about all aspects of her life, but mostly she writes as an advocate for women’s rights, especially the right for women to earn their living by having sex for money, without being persecuted and treated like a criminal.

Maggie McNeil came from a stable family, was mentally and physically healthy, completed her education, and was not destitute.  She chose to become a prostitute, she was not forced into it.  She writes that she enjoys having sex and she likes being a prostitute.  She has always been able to manage her own affairs, she has always been in control of her life.  She was never under anyone else’s control, and she was not victimized.

Maggie McNeil writes that there are many women throughout the world that are just like her.  There are many women throughout the world that are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, and they to chose to have sex for money as a profession.  Maggie McNeil has written more than a thousand blog posts on the subject of people working as prostitutes.  She reads research, studies, and news articles from around the world related to prostitution daily, and she posts links, summaries, and commentary.

I am writing about Maggie McNeil on my blog website, because I would like for people in North Dakota to consider some things in a rational, logical way.  When you have 20,000 male oil field workers move to Williston, North Dakota, there are not enough local women for the oil field workers to court, become engaged, and become married like you Catholics would like.  The ratio of men to women was probably 10:1.

Throughout the history of the world, in most parts of the world, there has been the situation where there were great numbers of men, and very few women.  Wars in remote locations, mining and lumber operations in remote locations, settling of frontiers and far away countries, gold rushes, oil booms.  There has been prostitution everywhere that there has been great numbers of men and few women.

Readers probably have images in their heads of dirty, filthy, diseased women working as prostitutes near battle fronts and mining towns.  The truth is, if these women working as prostitutes didn’t have access to clean lodgings, bathing facilities, and medical care, they might be dirty and diseased.  The best thing for women working as prostitutes and the men using these prostitutes, would be that these women have a clean, safe, regulated environment to work in.

What the North Dakotans should have done, was acknowledge and understand that there were going to be way more men than women due to the oil boom.  There was going to be prostitution.  When prostitution is illegal, and law enforcement and the judicial system seek to find and arrest all prostitutes, prostitution is conducted as a criminal enterprise, by criminals.  No normal woman is going to want to come to North Dakota to work as a prostitute when law enforcement is determined to arrest all prostitutes.  So instead what you get in North Dakota is, gangs, pimps, and criminals in other states get girls and women addicted to drugs, keep them high on drugs, beat them, threaten them, and drive them to North Dakota and force them to work as prostitutes.  These women are so drug addicted, so high on drugs, so coerced, that they have no control over how many men they have sex with, take no health precautions for their own safety, and take no health precautions against spreading disease to men.

If North Dakota would have allowed prostitution to be conducted as a legal business, there could have been normal, healthy, safety conscious women working in safe, clean places of business, with good access to health care, and some regulation.  Instead with North Dakotans vilifying and criminalizing prostitution, you have gangs and pimps drugging girls and women, holding them against their will, and forcing them to have sex with as many men as possible with no regard for their own health, for their customer’s health, or for spreading diseases.

North Dakota White Trash Hall Of Fame, Williston, North Dakota, Part II

In Part I of this blog post, I wrote about the North Dakota White Trash Hall Of Fame in Williston, North Dakota. In order to be fair, there needs to be a point system in order to determine who will be inducted. Below is a point system.

  1. If the person is from Florida or Texas, they automatically get 1 point.
  2. If their name is “Kayla”, they automatically get 1 point.

  1. If they drive a Pontiac Grand Prix, they get 1 point.
  2. For each vehicle hubcap missing, 1 point.
  3. For each vehicle window that is broken, 2 points.
  4. For each vehicle windshield or rear window decal banner, 3 points.

  1. For each body piercing, 1 point.
  2. For each tattoo, 1 point.
  3. Each name tattoo, 2 points.
  4. Each misspelled tattoo, 3 points.

  1. Each tobacco product used, 1 point.
  2. Each illegal drug used, 3 points.

  1. Each misdemeanor, 1 point.
  2. Each warrant out for their arrest, 3 points.
  3. Each resisting arrest, 3 points.
  4. Each felony, 4 points.
  5. Each assaulting a police officer, 5 points.

In the point system, there is no maximum point total, because it is not conceivable how many tattoos, piercings, and criminal charges a person might have. I believe that a person with a point total of 10 is probably White Trash, however this point total of 10 would probably be what 75% of the workers in North Dakota would have. You can’t have everybody inducted into The North Dakota White Trash Hall Of Fame. I believe a sufficient point total to be inducted would be 15 points.

I believe that a good time and place to have a White Trash person inducted into The North Dakota White Trash Hall Of Fame, would be at their sentencing hearing. Right after the judge or jury reads the sentencing determination, they can announce, “Also, you are hereby inducted into the North Dakota White Trash Hall Of Fame, congratulations.” Then everyone present can clap, the inductee gets their picture taken, and this photograph goes in the newspaper.

Please mail your nominations for induction into The North Dakota White Trash Hall Of Fame to:

I Want To Beat The Chamber of Commerce In Dickinson, North Dakota

I want to beat the Chamber of Commerce in Dickinson, North Dakota.  I want to get to you, before they do.  I want to tell you the truth, rather than have you listen to lies and bullshit.

The individuals in the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce may not be bad people, but they have a job to do, and that job is to lie to you about Dickinson.

When I first wrote this blog post in November of 2015, the housing prices in Dickinson were very, very high.  Extremely high.  This was the result of greed, lack of human decency, and stupidity.  There was this lie going around that everybody in the oil field was making $100,000 per year.  In the five years that I have lived in Dickinson, I have only ever met three people who made over $100,000 per year in the oil field.

The Oil Boom was over in western North Dakota by the end of 2015, due to the price of oil falling from over $100 per barrel down to $40 per barrel.  Many oil field jobs went away, and many out of state workers returned to the states where they came from.  Once the apartments, manufactured home parks, and trailer parks in Dickinson became less than half occupied, the rents throughout Dickinson dropped greatly.

During the Oil Boom, the people in Dickinson were not friendly, not helpful, and not cooperative.  Now that the Oil Boom is over, the people in Dickinson are even meaner, in part due to increased competition for fewer jobs, and also because they want people to leave Dickinson.

The people in Dickinson dislike people who are from someplace else, and they also dislike each other.  Anything you say to people in Dickinson, will probably make them dislike you more.  If you arrive in Dickinson now, you are better off staying away from people.  Remain in your hotel, or your home, there isn’t anything to do or anywhere to go anyway, and you will likely be followed and stopped by the Dickinson Police.

There is a shortage of women in Dickinson, and a lack of attractive women.  The ratio of men to women in Dickinson is probably 3:1.  The Dickinson Police Department try as hard as they can to not allow prostitution in Dickinson, though it is needed.  The Dickinson Police create fake advertisement for women wanting to have sex, and then arrest people when they show up.

You can not safely go out to bars or restaurants in Dickinson at night, because the Dickinson Police try as hard as they can to arrest people for DUI.  In Dickinson, the Police are so eager to arrest people for DUI or other charges, that they will follow you and stop you for any reason that they can think of.  The Police try to encourage people to leave Dickinson.

In Dickinson, all of the restaurants have employees and servers that don’t like their jobs.  All of the restaurant employees think that everyone else is making over $100,000 per year, and they aren’t, and they are mad about it.  The servers are disappointed and can’t understand why people don’t spend $50 per meal and leave them a $20 tip, like they all heard about.  How are they ever going to make $300 a night at Applebees like they planned?

There is not a lot to do in Dickinson.  It is cold and grey from about October through April, at least seven months of cold weather.

The oil field work has been reduced by about 80% over the past several years.  Most of the oil field workers who lost their jobs went back to the states where they came from because housing prices were so high here, the people are unfriendly, there is a shortage of women, you can’t go out to bars or restaurants at night, the restaurants have terrible service, there is not a lot to do, the Police encourage people to leave Dickinson, and it is cold for at least seven months of the year.

The people in Dickinson, and the employers in Dickinson, hate people with an education.  The employers in Dickinson would much rather hire someone with several felony convictions, than someone with a college degree.  In Dickinson, your supervisors and co-workers will be people convicted of robbery, theft, assault, and drug charges.  Perform a Google search and look up your company owners, managers, and personnel on www.ndcourts.gov/publicsearch/default.html before you accept a job with a company in Dickinson.

What do I want?  I want the truth to be known.  I had thought that Dickinson could change, but once the Oil Boom was over, the local people in Dickinson became ever meaner.  I had not realized that the local people in Dickinson were on their best behavior during the Oil Boom.  All I can do now is warn people what Dickinson is like.

2nd Post About Prostitution In Dickinson, North Dakota

This will be the second blog post that I have written about prostitution in Dickinson, North Dakota.  The first blog post that I wrote about prostitution, was written about six weeks ago.

So far, I have written approximately thirty-four blog posts.  In about half of them, I mention that there is a shortage of women in Dickinson, North Dakota.  There are way more men in Dickinson than women.  I think that the ratio of men to women here in Dickinson is probably 3:1.

Since 2011, I have lived in Dickinson for about thirty-two months, almost three years.  For about the first year, I did not think that there were any attractive women in Dickinson.  I thought that few attractive women were born in Dickinson due to the make up of the local population and the cold weather.  I thought that if there were any attractive women born here, they probably moved away right after high school graduation.  But for the first year that I was here, I mostly worked on oil field sites outside of town.

When I came back to Dickinson in May of 2013, I worked in town more.  When I went to the grocery store during the week, before 5 p.m., I saw some attractive women.  I also saw a few attractive women at the West River Community Center during the week, before 5 p.m.  It turns out that there were a few attractive women in Dickinson, but they were trying not to be seen out in public when the men got off of work in the evening.

The women that I saw at the grocery store and the West River Community Center before 5 p.m., who were attractive, I got the impression that they wanted to be left alone, that they did not want to be bothered, and that they were trying their best to get home before 5 p.m.  I felt sorry for them, they kind of acted like deer.  I think that about 80 percent of them must have been married or were in a committed relationship, and that the other 20 percent were just not wanting to mate.

After 5 p.m., you did not see hardly any attractive women in Dickinson.  You did not see hardly any attractive women in the bars.  From my own personal experience, and from what I saw other men doing, after work, the only attractive women you could talk to in all of Dickinson, were maybe a few bartender women, maybe a few waitresses, and maybe a few convenience store clerks, that was it.  There was a bartender girl that I liked, she did not want to talk to me, I told her that I liked her, but she never would talk to me.  I think that she liked me a little.  In 2011, on some nights this bar would serve about three hundred people, I think that she made about $300 to $400 in tips on those nights.  One night, about an hour before closing, a young guy said to her, that he would pay her $500 to have sex with him, he was serious.  She said,”It will cost you more than $500 to have sex with me.”, and I think she too was serious.

I nearly got into a lot of trouble going to this bar to see her.  One night she made me so mad, that I went outside and turned off the electric power to this bar, and went home.  Another night, she was flirting with this guy in front of me and letting him feel her, I had already warned the guy that I really liked her. I waited for him outside, when he went to his truck, I blocked his truck in with my truck, so that he could not leave.  He was much bigger than me, and he had two guys with him.  He realized that I was very angry, that I had blocked his truck in so that he could not get away, that I probably had a gun, and that I was possibly going to kill him.  He never came back, and she never fucked with me again.

I thought about it the following day, and some times after that.  I was ready to kill the guy.  I had only come to Dickinson to work.  Back home, I had a house on five acres, cars, trucks, motorcycles, everything I had ever wanted to have, but I almost lost it all, and would have spent the rest of my life in prison for shooting a guy at bar because he and the bartender girl had disrespected me, and angered me.

I can not explain everything that makes me who I am.  I know that I have some things in common with the other construction workers, oil field workers, and truck drivers that have come to Dickinson to work, especially those over forty years of age.  It is likely that at some point in our lives, each of us has had successes and failures, good jobs and bad jobs, plenty of money and lack of money, happy homes and broken homes, being in love and being lonely, feeling optimistic and feeling hopeless.  We have all had to deal with ups and downs in life, disappointment, and personal tragedies.  It is not that I can not deal with difficulties and problems, or handle not getting what I want, I have had to deal with these things many times.  But in Dickinson, I had left my home, my friends, and the day-to-day life that I liked.  I had left a place that I enjoyed and felt comfortable in, to come to a place that is cold and inhospitable.  I had had to deal with the shortage of housing in Dickinson where they wanted $1,500 per month for an old, small one bedroom apartment, that amount of money would rent a nice 3 bedroom/2 bathroom house back home.  I was acting as a foreman, getting to the shop early to load all the tools, equipment, and material, hooking up the trailer, going and picking up the DUI and drug probation crew workers around Dickinson, getting the job started, laying out the work, solving problems, pretty much what I had done in the past as a superintendent and project manager, but the local company that I was working for wasn’t paying me as a foreman.  I had to deal with local people, co-workers, site contractors, and company owners who were hateful and uncooperative.  So every morning that I woke up in Dickinson, I was already dealing with about six or seven adverse life conditions, just by being here.  Adding on top of that, working for a shitty company, not being paid very well, not ever seeing any attractive women, being ignored and disrespected by the bartender girl, and being disrespected by some guy, made me angry enough to want to kill the guy.

I went home for several months.  Then I went to work in Utah and Texas for a year.  I returned to Dickinson in May of 2013.  I knew that I should probably stay out of bars in Dickinson, and I did mostly stay out of bars.  I had a job as a foreman, it paid O.K.  I soon began to enjoy my work.  After work, and on the weekends, I could not find any attractive women.  I went to Patterson Lake on nice sunny days, and there were no attractive women there.  I went to a new upscale bar and restaurant in Dickinson called “Players Club” several times, the bartender men and women were not friendly.  I tried to speak to a waitress that I thought was very pretty, and she did not like me talking to her at all.  I went to work at a different company that had a very cute and smart girl working there that I liked, she did not want to talk to me.

In my previous blog post about prostitution in Dickinson, I wrote that the first time that I ever had any interest in internet dating sites, was when I came to Dickinson.  There was such a shortage of women, I could not find attractive women anywhere.  I looked at five different internet dating sites for women within 100 miles of Dickinson, and there were very few attractive women.  All of the attractive women had a list of requirements that I did not meet.  I looked and looked on the internet dating sites for women in North Dakota, and then I looked at the profiles of women in other states.  After I had read the profiles of about several hundred women, I found that they all had a list of requirements that would be hard for me to meet, I thought that they were being unrealistic.  In addition to me thinking that the requirements that these women had were unrealistic, and unlikely to be met, I felt that women were fucked up for even getting the idea in their head that you could make such unilateral and inequitable demands from another human being.

Some out-of-state truck drivers told me to go look on the website “Back Page” under escorts.  When I looked at the escorts, some were sleazy, some were not.  Even if you had to pay $250 per hour for an escort, it was beginning to appear to be a much better idea to pay for a prostitute for company, than to waste any  more time trying to find women in Dickinson or on an internet dating site.  Also, from the several hundred profiles of women that I had read, I could see that these women would have griped and complained about everything, wasted my time, tried to get everything they could from me, made me feel inadequate, and would have caused me all kinds of problems.  The only thing stopping me from hiring an escort was that it was not appealing to me to be with a woman that had already been with several guys that day, and I did not want to get arrested.

In 2014, I began to do work where it was important for me not to get into any kind of trouble, or I would lose my job.  I had to stay in Bismarck in a nice business hotel for a couple of weeks.  Most of the attractive escorts on the website “Back Page”, were based in Bismarck.  I was so tempted.  I had a belief that this particular hotel would have absolutely not liked having a prostitute walk through the door, and getting asked to leave this hotel, which was being paid for by my employer, would have caused me to lose my job.  I was also aware that police often try to entrap people by creating false advertisements for escorts on the internet.

In my previous blog post about prostitution, I wrote about seeing on the evening news in Dickinson, that the Bismarck police had placed an advertisement for an escort on the internet, and that they had received sixty calls for an appointment.  They were only able to arrest sixteen of the callers when they showed up to meet the prostitute because they ran out of time.  I was very angry about this.  I just got done explaining in this blog post how difficult it was for me to meet women in Dickinson, there was a shortage of women.  Women in Dickinson did not want me talking to them.  I had gone to a bar many times because I liked the bartender girl, and got so mad that I nearly got into a lot of trouble for turning their electric power off, and for nearly killing a guy.  I tried to see if I could find a girl by looking at five different internet dating sites, and there were very few women in this area.  The police are so fucking god damn stupid, what the fuck do they think they are doing?

What caused me to write this second blog post about prostitution, was what I heard from a friend of mine this week.  My friend is a construction foreman in Williston.  The project that he is working on has about one hundred workmen every day.  The company that he works for, has had most of their workers working ten hours each day, seven days a week, for the past three months.  One unmarried out-of-state worker on this project, looked on the internet for an escort.  He arranged to meet her at a restaurant.  When he got to the restaurant, it was a set-up, the police were hiding in the bathroom, when he had said enough, the police came out and arrested him.  His name was published in the newspaper, but nothing about where he worked.  He had to request time off from his company to appear in court, he was fired from his job.  I think that this was very unfair.  If you are an unmarried out-of-state worker, and you have worked ten hours a day, seven days a week, for the past three months, and you live in Williston or Dickinson where there is a shortage of women, you have not been able to meet women.

Why are you even alive if all you are going to do is get up, get dressed, drive an hour to your job site, work ten hours, drive an hour back home, eat, take a shower, and go to sleep, day after day after day?  If you work construction every day like this, you don’t have the time or the energy to do anything after work.  One day you stop and get groceries after work, one day you do laundry after work, one day you do dishes and cleaning after work, you are too tired to do much else, and there isn’t time.  Well, I guess this guy has some time now, he got fired from his job.
