Review Of J&J Chinese Delivery In Dickinson, North Dakota

Whoa!  I am going to have to completely change my review of J&J Chinese Delivery to DO NOT USE!

Last week, I was looking through something that I received in the mail titled, “The Local Business Guide Directory”, produced by the Dickinson Press.  Towards the end of this advertisement booklet was a small ad for “J&J Chinese Delivery”.

I was aware that there had been a restaurant on Main Street in Belfield called the “J&J Chinese Cafe”, but this restaurant had closed down about a year ago.  I felt bad for the owner of this restaurant, the food was good, but there were just not enough customers in the town of Belfield.

I had not known that the owner of the J&J Chinese Cafe had moved to Dickinson, and was now offering Chinese food for delivery only.

I looked up J&J Chinese Delivery on the internet, and there were listings for it in Dickinson.  I clicked on the Facebook page of J&J Chinese Delivery, if you look through their photographs, they have three photographs of their menu items with prices.  As you are about to read, Their Prices Are Not What They Say They Are!

I called J&J Chinese Delivery, and asked if they had “Beef with Chinese Vegetables”, they said they did, and it was $9.99.  I said that I wanted to come and pick it up, they told me that I could not pick it up, they had to deliver it.  I asked how much for delivery, they said $2.00.

My food was delivered in about twenty minutes.  Though I got “Beef with Broccoli”, not “Beef with Chinese Vegetables”.

Warning!:  I have to absolutely give this warning, because of both my first order, and my second order a few days later.

When my first order was delivered, the charge was a little over $12 including tax and delivery.  I had a $20 bill ready for when the delivery person came.  I planned on giving the delivery person $3.00 extra, but he said, “I don’t have my change bag with me.”  So I ended up only getting back $3 from my $20 bill, paying $17 for my $9.99 order.  If you are old enough to know, this is a common scheme used by delivery people, taxi drivers, etcetera “I don’t have change for a $20 bill”.

Remember, I wanted to go and pick up my order, but they told me that this was not allowed.

Two days later, I placed an order for Szechuan Beef, which their menu says is $9.99.  I asked how much my order would be on the telephone when I placed my order, and I was told $15.17.  When the delivery person arrived, they asked for $17.17.

Today, when I telephoned to place an order, I asked about their prices, and why they are not what they say they are, and at first I did not get a straight answer.  Then, the person at J&J Chinese Delivery told me that their delivery charge is now $5.00.

Fuck J&J Chinese Delivery!  I don’t mind paying a $2.00 delivery charge which is enough for a business to pay a delivery driver about $10 per hour, and then giving the driver another $3.00 to boost their income so that they can make money in what they are doing.

A delivery driver should be able to make at least five deliveries per hour, so they should be able to make $25 per hour with an hourly pay plus tips from the customer.  But what I suspect that J&J Chinese Delivery is doing, is trying to make money by not allowing customers to come and pick up their food, and charging $5.00 for each delivery, which I do not believe is all going to the delivery person.

In any case, Fuck J&J Chinese Delivery.  The very first thing that I am going to do tomorrow, is call the City of Dickinson Health Department, Restaurant Licensing, Business Licensing, and City Zoning to complain about J&J Chinese Delivery operating out of a location that may not have been inspected, permitted, licensed, or zoned for this.

I can not stand dishonest, scheming, lying , treacherous people, especially if they are immigrants who receive abundant generosity when they are allowed into our country, and then they turn around and try to rip people off.

What do I mean, rip people off?  The King Buffet Chinese Restaurant in Dickinson probably has to pay at least several thousand dollars per month for rent in the T-Rex Shopping Center.  On top of that, the King Buffet Chinese Restaurant has to pay $1,000 to $2,000 per month in utilities.  Then pay employee wages, plus pay more money for employee payroll taxes for workers compensation and social security.  Also pay sales tax, business license, property insurance, liability insurance, and bare all the costs for tables, chairs, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, and glassware.

At the King Buffet Chinese Restaurant, it is all you can eat, and you can have the hibachi chef cook in front of you, whatever raw meat and vegetables you want.  With a drink included, this costs about $13.00.

So to me, it is treachery, scheming, underhandedness, and dishonesty that J&J Chinese Delivery that doesn’t operate out of a restaurant, is going to advertise many menu items for $9.99, but it ends up costing you $17, when J&J Chinese Delivery doesn’t have high rent for a commercial space sit-down restaurant, high utility bills for a commercial space sit-down restaurant, have to pay for property insurance, liability insurance, tables, chairs, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, glassware, waiters, table clearers, dishwahsers, and payroll taxes on these employees.  But they try to charge you more than a local restaurant which has way, way more costs to bare.

Well Run Arby’s Restaurant In Dickinson, North Dakota

I have lived in Dickinson, North Dakota for a little over five years now.  I started this blog website approximately three years ago, mostly out of frustration with living in Dickinson.  Living in Dickinson, there was very little to do, no where to go, the people were unfriendly, and the restaurants were all bad, especially the waitresses.

Of the nearly five hundred blog posts that I have written, most of them are complaining about Dickinson.  About one year ago, I began to realize that one of the only places in Dickinson that I didn’t have any complaints about, was the Arby’s restaurant.

I began to realize that I never ever had a long wait in the drive through, or at the counter in Arby’s.  No one ever got my order wrong in any way whatsoever.  No employee ever irritated me, annoyed me, or did anything wrong.  The food that I ordered was always good or O.K.  I was never mischarged or given the wrong change.  I never saw the employees loose their cool, bicker, squabble, or argue.

I began to think that nothing ever went wrong at this Arby’s because of the employees who worked there.  How could this be, that each of these employees showed up to work, did their job, were pleasant, and got along with each other?  No place else in Dickinson has employees like this, how did this happen?

There are a couple of nation-wide franchise restaurants in Dickinson that have nearly closed several times because they were unable to get employees, assistant managers, and managers that would show up to work and work competently.  All businesses in Dickinson had a difficult time hiring and keeping competent employees during the Oil Boom that occurred from 2007 through 2014.  How was this Arby’s restaurant able to hire and retain good employees?

The manager of the Arby’s restaurant in Dickinson, I believe that her name is Sarah.  I think that the owners of this restaurant know that Sarah has done a very good job.  I don’t know if the owners of this restaurant are aware of the turnover and employee chaos that all of the other restaurants in Dickinson have.

I don’t know exactly how Sarah does it.  I think that she must have some unique ability to pick out and identify the good applicants from the bad ones.  I don’t know how she can tell which applicants are going to show up every day, do their job, take their job seriously, be pleasant, and get along with everyone.  All business owners and managers wish that they could pick the applicants that would be good long term employees, but hardly anyone can.

I noticed that the employees at this Arby’s restaurant are there to do their job.  They always seem to be 100% focused on their job, and I don’t see many businesses where the employees are like this all the time.  Especially in the restaurant business, I usually see employees who are thinking about and talking about everything but work, and acting like and saying out loud that they would rather be some place else.

Besides hiring good people, I would say that this Arby’s must have a good positive work environment.  A work place that is fair, competent, organized, well managed, and pleasant.  If it weren’t, they would have employee turnover, people not showing up for work, stressed out employees, and employees who were openly unhappy at work.  But they don’t have any of this.

I hope that I don’t mess this restaurant up by writing a complimentary blog post about it.

The Fast Food Restaurant Workers Are Friendly In Dickinson, North Dakota

The fast food restaurant workers are friendly in Dickinson, North Dakota.  I have wondered about this for several years, because the waitresses and bartenders in the non-fast food restaurants in Dickinson are unfriendly.  This doesn’t make any sense.

I have been going to Arby’s in Dickinson for almost five years.  I never, ever, had a bad experience at this Arby’s in Dickinson.  No one at the Arby’s in Dickinson was ever unfriendly to me, and all the employees always appeared to get along with each other.  They never once got my order wrong.

I have eaten less at Wendy’s in Dickinson, than I have at Arby’s, but for the past five years I have never a bad experience at Wendy’s.  The employees have always been friendly, and they have never gotten my order wrong.

At the Burger King in Dickinson, most of the employees now are black, and many of them are from Africa.  In the past several years, they have gotten my order slightly wrong once.  They have always been friendly.

At Arby’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King in Dickinson, I have not had one bad experience in five years.  The employees have been friendly when I am ordering my food, when I am waiting, when I go and sit down and eat, and when I leave.

What does not make any sense, is that the fast food workers don’t get paid very much money, and they don’t get any tips from customers, yet they are friendly to customers, whereas the waitresses and bartenders at restaurants in Dickinson are unfriendly, and they expect to get tips from customers.

Some examples that stand out in my mind, are some of the bartenders that they used to have at The Players Club in Dickinson.  One night, on the street in front of The Players Club, the police had someone pulled over for DUI.  When I walked inside, I said to the bartender, that the police stopping someone for DUI right in front of the bar was probably not good for business.  The bartender said, “That’s what you get for drinking and driving.”  I thought, that was a stupid thing for a bartender to say, that he thinks his customers should be stopped for DUI.  It is not illegal to have drinks at a bar and drive home.  Some of the other bartenders they used to have at The Players Club were kind of scowling, sneering, and miserable in their job, and they made me want to never come back.

This is when I first started to think, why are the people working at the drive thru in Wendy’s so friendly and smiling, and the bartenders who make most of their money on tips from customers so unfriendly?  The drive thru workers at Wendy’s aren’t going to make any additional money by being friendly, yet they are friendly.  And the bartenders would make more money and have more customers if they were friendly, yet they are not friendly.

All of the workers in the fast food restaurants seemed to be focused on their jobs and getting the food out.  Many or most of the waitresses and bartenders in Dickinson appeared to be sullen, bitter, and angry both about their work circumstances and their personal lives.

If you want to have a pleasant, drama-free dining experience in Dickinson, I recommend going to Arby’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, Dominos, or Taco Johns where the employees do their job, get the food out to you, and you can go and sit down and eat in peace.  At the restaurants with waitresses and bartenders in Dickinson, you get treated like you are their enemy and the source of all their difficulties.

Managing A Bar Or Restaurant In Dickinson, North Dakota

Most bars and restaurants have similar management in Dickinson, North Dakota.  First, what the manager is looking for, is a waitress or bartender with many jobs of short duration.  With many jobs of short duration, there is no need to contact previous employers, because the employee obviously excelled.

Another thing that the bar or restaurant manager is looking for, is a waitress or bartender who is a first or second year student at Dickinson State University, and they are obviously better than most of their customers.  Even if they are an elementary education major in their first or second year at Dickinson State University with an enrollment of about 1,000 students, they are far superior to customers with a degree in business or engineering from a university with 50,000 students.  You know, they are 19 or 20 years old, and they have been around, done it all, far more so than any of the 40 year old or 50 year old customers, who are losers.

Another good thing about hiring a 19 or 20 year old Dickinson State University student, besides the prestige, with DSU in the news for being investigated for fraudulently awarding degrees and financial fraud, the DSU student can let all of the customers know that this job is not important to them, and that they would rather not be there.

What the manager of a bar or restaurant in Dickinson, North Dakota is looking for, is a waitress or bartender that does not want to be there, and that they say it out loud, and say it often.  It is good that the waitress or bartender either talk about things that they wish they were doing in front of the customers, or talk about their problems.

Although it is good for a waitress or bartender to talk in front of customers, it is not good for them to talk to customers.  The ratio of men to women in Dickinson is about 3:1.  Most of the customers in a bar or restaurant in Dickinson will be men who do not have families in Dickinson.  Because these men work all day, do not have families in Dickinson, and there is a shortage of women in Dickinson, the waitress or bartender is probably the only woman the customer will speak to all day.  Therefore, it is good that the waitress or bartender not talk to the customer, and walk away, out of sight is the best.  That way, even if the customer needs mustard, ketchup, silver ware, or a drink, the waitress or bartender is not around.  It is important to not be available if the customer wants something.

There are all kinds of good ways for a waitress or bartender to not be available to customers: going to the bathroom, going outside to smoke, going out to their car to talk on the phone, socializing with friends, and eating.  It is important to ignore customers as much as possible.  It is very important to not be hospitable or provide good service in the hospitality and service industry, just ask any bar or restaurant manager in Dickinson.

In order to be a good waitress or bartender in Dickinson, you have to not be good at just one thing, you need to combine the things mentioned above.  For instance, if you seat a customer at a table, you need to walk far away from them, turn your back to them, and become occupied with texting on your phone.  This accomplishes several things, you are not talking to them, you are not available to them, you are showing that you are more important than them, you are showing that you don’t want to be at work, and you are ignoring them.

Once you have had many waitressing and bartending jobs of short duration, complete less than three years of college at some place like DSU, get a DUI, have a drug or alcohol addiction, and have caused several restaurants to go out of business, then you will be ready to manage one of the bars or restaurants in Dickinson.

Advice To Wealthy People From Out Of State Regarding Dickinson, North Dakota

If you are a wealthy person living in a different state, and you are considering moving to Dickinson, North Dakota, I have some advice for you and some warnings.  You can buy a new custom home just outside of Dickinson on 10 to 40 acres for approximately $450,000 to $700,000.  These homes will have large modern kitchens, custom cabinetry, wood floors, five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a three car garage, and probably a large shop building big enough for a tractor, or motor home.  These houses were built by local people who owned land and began receiving oil well revenue money in about 2008, these houses were built by people who had successful oil field service companies, and these houses were built by high paid oil company managers.  If you pick up one of the free local real estate guides, you will see several of these houses for sale.

At any of these new custom homes outside of Dickinson, you will have a good view of undeveloped grasslands.  Most of these new homes will probably not have “wind break trees”, which are rows of trees planted close together not far from the house in order to block the wind.  Once you move in, it won’t really matter what time of year it is, within about a month, you will discover that the wind often blows across the grasslands at about fifty miles per hour.  A new homeowner might think, “Wow, that’s a strong wind”, and it will not fully dawn on them that that’s what it’s going to be like, most of the time.  If you had pictured yourself sitting out on your deck in the mornings, leisurely reading the newspaper, you may now see that your deck chairs and table have tumbled into a barbed wire fence at the end of your property.  At least you have a modern home, with tight fitting double pained glass windows.  You won’t have as much dirt blowing in through cracks around windows and doors, and you won’t hear the wind constantly gusting and buffeting your house, hopefully.  Thank God you have a garage that you can drive into and shut the door behind you, otherwise you would have a hard time getting into your house if you had anything to carry like groceries.

You will be able to sit inside of your modern home with your family, and watch television via Dish Network, and use the internet, if you don’t want to be out in the wind.  There are some days in the summer when the weather is moderate, when you can get out and mow the lawn or have a cook out.  You really need to get outside and fully appreciate the nice summer days when they are here, because there are not many of them.

If you come to Dickinson with a Jaguar, Mercedes, or BMW and try to take it somewhere to be serviced, Dan Porter Toyota may or may not be willing to change the oil.  You may have to take your vehicle to Bismarck, Fargo, or Minneapolis to get any work done.  You will start to notice more and more, that even the housewives drive big four-door pick-up trucks and Suburbans.  After your first winter in Dickinson, you might start to realize that the people who can afford it, get for their wife and themselves, the biggest four-wheel-drive vehicle they can.  Driving into Dickinson, you can hit a deer in the road.  It is sometimes fatal for the driver of a car when the deer goes through the windshield.  You are safer in a big truck because the hood is higher than the deer.  Also, in the winter when the roads have not been plowed, or the roads are icy, you can get into town better in a big heavy four-wheel-drive truck, and you can survive an accident better if you are in a big heavy truck or Suburban.

For entertainment or sport, some people like to go deer hunting and pheasant hunting.  Hunting, hunting…deer and pheasant stand beside the road when I drive by, or run back and forth across the road in front of me when I am driving into town, like retarded children.  They are right there, just like the neighborhood dogs, cats, and rabbits.  So I don’t see any entertainment or sport in hunting deer and pheasant in Dickinson.

Entertainment for women, they can shop at Menards, Wal-Mart, a few shops downtown, and the Prairie Hills Mall.  The Prairie Hills Mall has a JC Penny and Herbergers.  If the women want more than this, they will have to drive to Bismarck.  The West River Community Center has two indoor pools, one outdoor pool, two indoor tennis courts, indoor track, weight room, and exercise equipment, so there are things for women, moms, and kids to do.  There is a golf course in Dickinson, which I believe is supposed to be O.K.

I have written many blog posts about restaurants in Dickinson.  My frequent complaint is that most of the servers are disgruntled troubled women from out of state, and being a waitress or bartender and serving people is the last thing in the world that they want to be doing, and they let you know.  Don Pedros Mexican restaurant has good food, and pleasant courteous staff.  The Brickhouse Grille is supposed to be the upscale restaurant in Dickinson, and it is in a way, however it is not upscale enough.  At any restaurant in Dickinson, at any time, you can have a group of male out-of-state workers, that work in construction or the oil field, and they want to go out to eat and have some fun.  The restaurant owner and managers can spot these workers a block away, and they can tell that they are White Trash or very nearly White Trash, but they don’t know if they are going to behave or not.  The following is what typically happens.

An educated, professional, well-mannered person or persons will go to a restaurant in Dickinson, be seated at a table, and place an order.  Even at what is supposed to be a nice restaurant in Dickinson, a group of White Trash or nearly White Trash workers will arrive at the restaurant.  To the waitress, who lives in a trailer park or an apartment, likes to smoke pot, crack, and meth, these White Trash workers are her kind of people.  The waitress couldn’t be happier to seat these White Trash workers at the table adjacent to a professional husband and wife.  If the educated, professional husband and wife, chose to stay, they would be treated to construction worker tales of sex with ugly women, drunkenness, fighting, arrests, DUI’s, and other conversations that they might hear if they were in jail or prison.  This is exactly how it is.  So most of the wealthy people in Dickinson do not go out to eat at restaurants in Dickinson, to neither be in the company of low class disgruntled waitresses, or White Trash workers.

Once Again, Talking About Restaurants And Restaurant Employees In North Dakota

I am once again writing about restaurants in Western North Dakota.  Recently I wrote that just about all of the restaurants in Watford City have food that is both bad and overpriced.  When most of the restaurants that people try in a town are bad, people are scared to try other restaurants in that town.  I believe that many people who have to drive on Highway 85 deliberately do not stop in Watford City because of possibly one or two bad experiences dining in Watford City.

The one good restaurant in Watford City is Taco Johns.  The food is good or O.K.  The food is served quickly and it is not expensive.  The staff are friendly, funny, and polite.  I have never seen an employee there have a bad or negative attitude.  So this shows me that it is possible to have a good, fast, inexpensive, friendly restaurant in Watford City.

This past Sunday evening in Watford City, I drove into town at about 6:30 p.m. and I noticed that the streets were vacant.  I noticed many vehicles in the new hotel parking lots, the new apartment parking lots, and at the homes downtown.  It was completely apparent that no one was going out, everyone was staying home.  A little bit because of the Watford Police being so strict on DUI enforcement, but mostly because of the whole bad experience of going out in Watford City, people here just realize they need to stay home.

A neighbor here in Watford City who I have known for about five months, said that she and her family went out to eat in Watford City on Father’s Day, and that the waitress was really horrible, and had a very bad attitude about her job, and that this just ruined going out for her family.  She said that she told the waitress, “You know, I hope that you find a job that you really like one day.”

The neighbor that was explaining this to me, was complaining that she and her husband together make about $16,000 per month, that they would like to go do things that they enjoy and go out to eat, but there is nothing to do and nowhere to go.  I was surprised that my neighbor was telling me this, because I was thinking the exact same thing.  I had worked every day from May 1st through June 15, every day.  I had had several uncashed paychecks because I didn’t need the money and  I didn’t feel like going to the bank.  I had been too busy to go to a sit-down restaurant, and I didn’t really want to because they are all so bad. I had been eating mostly frozen dinners and take-out.

The middle of last week I went to a diner in Dickinson that I had been going to since 2011.  The food is not very good, but I like visiting with customers that I know and employees that I know.  I talked to some long time employees that I know, but the waitress didn’t know me, she was from out of state.  At that time, there were not any customers, and I was trying to talk to the waitress, which she did not like, because she said so.  So I left, leaving no customers in the diner.

I almost felt like telephoning the owner of the diner who I have known for four years on the following day, and explaining: “You have fewer, and fewer, and fewer customers.  Yes it’s true that many workers have moved away, and many people have lost their jobs, a lot of people don’t have money.  But, I have money, because I have been working every day for the last six weeks.  I come to your diner to socialize, not for the food.  Anything that I might order at your diner, I could just as easily make at home.  Your waitress let me know that she did not like me, so I left, leaving no one in your diner.  Why do you think there was no one in your diner, and you have less and less customers?”

I wrote several previous posts about “Problem Women” moving to North Dakota.  I sometimes described these women as hating their job, hating their customers, hating their co-workers, and hating being here.  You might think, “If they hate their job and being here so much, why don’t they just go back where they came from?”  The answer is, they can’t go back where they came from.  Back where they came from, they didn’t get along with their customers, co-workers, employers, and alienated all friends, neighbors, and family members.  Restaurant owners must think, “She will learn that being unfriendly to customers will result in fewer customers, and less money for her, so there is no reason for her to be unfriendly.”  In Watford City and Dickinson, I don’t know why the bar and restaurant owners have never realized that most of the women that they have hired as waitresses are so mentally messed up, that ruining a restaurant is what they are in the habit of doing, wherever they go.

Some Restaurants I Would Like To See Fail In Dickinson, North Dakota

One of the reasons why I continue to stay in Dickinson, even though most of the oil field jobs have gone away, is because I want to see everybody get what is coming to them. Though it might be more and more difficult for me to make money, (I have three jobs right now), I want to survive long enough to see some businesses fail in Dickinson. I look forward to it, every day.

I normally don’t want to see anybody get hurt, or anything bad happen to anyone, but sometimes I want people to get what is coming to them. In this blog post, I want to write about some restaurants in Dickinson that made me very angry.

In 2013, I was aware that there was a new pizza restaurant in town, “Wildcat Pizza”, that was not part of a franchise like the Pizza Hut or Dominos Pizza already in Dickinson. I like Pizza Hut and Dominos O.K., but I thought that I would give this new restaurant a try. I telephoned “Wildcat Pizza” to place a to-go order for a small or medium pizza, and they said, “That will be $26”. I said, “You can forget it, and I will never ever call you again.”. At that time in Dickinson, there were two all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants where you could fix yourself a huge salad, have different side-dishes, several main course meat dishes, and many kinds of deserts, for less than $13. Whoever owned “Wildcat Pizza”, I would have liked to have cursed at them in person, and then beat them with a stick. I got the impression that the owner must have been from “New York”, and he was expecting all these “$100,000 per year oil field workers”, “Why everybody is making $100,000 per year!”. The truth was, most people in Dickinson made $11 to $16 per hour. Wildcat Pizza went out of business in 2015. Good, you deserve it.

In 2015, there was a nationally advertised sandwich restaurant franchise that opened in Dickinson. All of their television advertisements boast about how good their subs are. When I went there, and ordered a ham and cheese sub, it was approximately 7” to 8” long, had some lettuce and two tomato slices. I thought, “You have got to be fucking kidding me!”. At Subway Sandwiches, their subs are 11” long, and you can get lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, olives, cucumbers, bell peppers, hot peppers, onions, and all for $2 less, on a bigger sub! Everybody that I talked to says the same thing. I am so looking forward to this new restaurant going out of business. I wish that we could catch the owner, tar and feather him, and chase him through town, beating him with a stick.

My most hated restaurant in all of Dickinson, and my most hated person, is that arrogant Mexican guy, who owns that Mexican restaurant. I have talked to four other people who feel the same way, including the pastor of the Church that I go to. I can’t wait for that Mexican to get what is coming to him, when he goes bankrupt, and he and his wife have to ride burros back to Mexico. The food is O.K., and at first I thought that the owner and his wife were working hard, and trying to do a good job, and have a good restaurant, but once the restaurant became busy, he started acting shitty and arrogant.

The pastor of the Church that I go to, several times he took a group of about ten people to eat at this Mexican restaurant. The pastor and the group began to realize that they weren’t being waited on, because they didn’t order alcohol. Restaurants make most of their profit on highly marked-up alcohol drinks. Of course this group of Church members are not going to order alcohol drinks, so the restaurant owner doesn’t want them there, and he and his staff treated them badly so that they don’t come back.

A friend of mine named Mike, he and I would sometimes eat at this Mexican restaurant. Several times Mike went by himself, and the owner and the staff wouldn’t wait on him. The last time that Mike went by himself, the owner threw the bill at him with disgust. Mike was taking up a table, and wasn’t ordering enough food or drinks.

When I went to this Mexican restaurant by myself, I went and sat at the bar, so that I wouldn’t take up a table. The last time that I went, the owner and his staff wouldn’t wait on me. I felt like saying, ”If you don’t want me to eat here, just go ahead and tell me.”. I just got up and left. I quit going there. I talked to a male worker older than me, who said that they would not wait on him at the bar. I talked to a female DSU student who said that they did not want to wait on her and her friends because they didn’t spend enough money.

This Mexican restaurant was busy, because there were a lot of people in Dickinson, and there was not an alcohol bar at Bonanza, King Buffet, Perkins, Country Kitchen, Pizza Ranch, or Taco Bell. I know not to order a lot of drinks at a restaurant in Dickinson because the police are so aggressive in giving DUIs. My room mate got a DUI on the way home from this location. Mike, who I mentioned, got a DUI several years ago. The DSU girl that I mentioned has got a lot of sense, she’s not going to order a lot of drinks. From everybody that I talked to, that didn’t get waited on, they all believed that the owner wanted them to get the message that they were not wanted. All these people just did not spend enough money to the owner’s liking.

I look forward to this Mexican restaurant getting slower and slower, where it is harder and harder to pay the lease or the mortgage. As this Mexican uses his cash up to keep his restaurant open with the expectation that the oil is coming back, he will only be becoming more and more broke. As he is nearing bankruptcy, I can personally bring him job applications for Taco Bell and Taco Johns. I can reminisce with him, “I remember the good old days, when you used to be so busy, that you wouldn’t wait on me, do you remember? It seems like it was only last year. Oh, hey, here, I brought you a job application for Taco Johns. I put in a good word for you.”

Problem Women Moving To Dickinson, North Dakota

In many previous posts, I wrote that there had been a shortage of women in Dickinson, and a lack of attractive women in Dickinson. I also wrote that the women in Dickinson had all decided that they were going to be overweight, not in shape, that they were not going to wear nice clothes, get their hair done, get their nails done, or act friendly, because they did not want men bothering them or wanting to have sex with them. I was writing about the women from Dickinson. The women from Dickinson don’t want any kind of attention.

One year ago, I was working as a subcontractor in Dickinson, at a large business that employed many women. After a couple of weeks of working there, I asked this one woman who was older than me, who I had to exchange work information with hourly, why her coworker was so short with me. She said, “Don’t you dare tell her that I said this, she is just nutty and crazy, she told me that she sold her house and moved here to Dickinson, to try to find a guy working in the oil field to get hooked up with. She had heard there were so many single guys in Dickinson. But as you can see, she ain’t very good looking, and she’s a crazy bitch, so it hasn’t worked out for her, and now she’s just an angry person.”

I recall those words now, because I recently encountered an angry young woman working in the restaurant where I often eat. I have been going to this restaurant since 2011. I know the owner, and about 10 out of the 13 people who currently work at this restaurant, plus many of the former employees. I talk to the waitresses some, I know where they are from, and a little about what is going on with them in their lives. I don’t make fun of them, and I don’t say anything lewd or crude to them. Some of the waitresses talk a lot, some don’t. Some of the waitresses talk a lot about their personal life, some don’t. Some want to be friends, some don’t. However, I have in the past met women who have recently moved to Dickinson, who begin working at this restaurant, who have blackness and darkness in their background, demons, and it is only a short amount of time before they start acting evil.

About four months ago, there was a pretty, petite young woman about 25 years of age, who came to work at this restaurant. She is unmarried, and has a young daughter. At first, she seemed to be making friends with some of the staff and some of the customers. She dated one of the customers briefly after she started working at the restaurant, I don’t know why, he looks just like the Devil. Currently, another customer is asking her out, he is an O.K. person, but he is not handsome. More and more over the past weeks, her countenance has grown angrier and angrier, she acts angry, she says that she is angry, and that she hates her job. As of several days ago, she is not speaking to me, and she acts like she is mad at me, like I have done something to her.

This makes me very uncomfortable, because she acts like I have done something to her. It makes me very uncomfortable, because I have seen this play out before. I have seen women that are so full of anger and hate, that they try attack someone around them, usually a male, but because they are small, they attack some man using a scheme or false allegations. I know a little about this young woman’s background, it appears that she got into some trouble and a bad lifestyle in Wyoming, her family had some relatives that had come to work in Dickinson, so they thought this would be a good place for her, they thought she would meet some guy working in the oil field. The problem is, it didn’t take long for her to start acting crazy here too.

I can think of about eight additional women that I have met, that have traveled from several states away to be a bartender or waitress in Dickinson, and they hate their job, they hate their customers, they dislike their coworkers, they hate being here, and they hate their life. You might think that it would have been easier for them to stay where they were, but no, it wouldn’t be, because they were unable to keep or get a job where they were because they had a bad attitude and acted crazy.

I have met women working in other industries in Dickinson and Watford City, that have traveled from several states away, that act like they have got something mentally and emotionally wrong with them. Just like the older men who never learned a skill or trade, or never did any work competently, drove across the country thinking they were going to get a $100,000 per year job, crazy women came out here thinking they wouldn’t be crazy anymore or people wouldn’t notice.

Bad Service, a Common Problem in Dickinson, North Dakota

A couple of days ago, I had a problem at a restaurant in Dickinson.  In the past, I had recommended this restaurant to people.  I said that the service was good in this restaurant because the husband and wife owners were always there, waiting on tables, seating customers, checking on customers, making drinks, and serving as cashiers.  A couple of days ago I walked out of this restaurant due to not be waited on.

I wrote a review of this restaurant on the website “Yelp”.  I read other reviews of this restaurant on “Yelp”, and was surprised to see that the very same thing had happened to other customers.  Other customers had had to walk out for not being served, and other customers had been treated very rudely.

I went and read the reviews for the Players Sports Bar on “Yelp”, and found that there were about four or five reviews complaining of bad service, which is what I had experienced.  I then read on “Yelp” all the other reviews for all of the restaurants that I had eaten at in Dickinson, and bad service was common complaint.  Eventually, I started to see reviews that started out saying, “…this is Dickinson, you are not going to find a good restaurant…this one is worse than usual…”

If you have lived in Dickinson for even a short while, you will see “Help Wanted” signs in most restaurants in Dickinson, and most retail stores in Dickinson.  One reason for this is that there are many jobs in Dickinson that pay more than restaurant or retail jobs, so there is currently a shortage of restaurant and retail workers.  So, the wait staff or bartender that served you, that wasn’t good at their job, or wasn’t friendly, was possibly the only person available, or the best of the lot that was not a very good lot.

Additionally, the restaurant that I went to a couple of days ago and walked out of for not being waited on, that I used to recommend, they are very busy.  I believe that the husband and wife owner have come to the point that they believe they don’t have to be nice to every customer, they have enough customers.
