The Mood Right Now In Dickinson, North Dakota

Right now, it is the middle of April 2017.  After a long and cold winter, it appeared that it was going to warm up, and the sun was going to come out.  This past week, I tried several times to sit out in the sun on the back porch wearing shorts and no shirt, in order to try to get a tan.  I look better and I feel better when I have a sun tan.  Even though the clouds came, the wind picked up every day, and the temperature sometimes dropped into the 50s during the day, I still got a tan.

Through the winter, I had been going to the West River Community Center several times each week to walk and run the indoor track.  In between laps, or after all my laps were completed, I would do six sets of pull ups, sit ups, or push ups.  My physical condition is about the same or better than it was when I was 10 years old, 16 years old, or 26 years old.  Sometimes I do feel physically older though, partly because I am heavier, and partly because I have less energy.

Because it is Spring, because I have been exercising and my health is good, and because I don’t have a wife or any children, I feel about the same as when I was 10 years old, 16 years old, or 26 years old.  I am looking forward to riding my mountain bike, going kayaking, and going to the beach.

Sometimes at night I go to a bar or restaurant in Dickinson in order to get out of the house where I live in Dickinson.  The owner of the house is about twelve years older than me, but he acts like he is in his eighties because his attitude, outlook, mental health, and physical health is so bad.  His complaining, whining, drinking, and acting like an old man starts to suck the life right out of me, and I have to get away.

I feel much better when I leave the house at night to go somewhere.  However, my good mood in getting out of the house, and it being Spring, is brought down when I get to where I am going in Dickinson.  I was used to everyone being in a glum mood this winter because it was so cold and grey.  For the past couple of weeks, when the weather has been much nicer, when I met people that were in a bad mood, I attributed it to these people having problems.

However, for the past week, when I have gone to a particular bar and restaurant, I have noticed that everyone, both the employees and the customers, are in a bad mood.  I have met some high school girls, some young women that recently got engaged, some that recently got married, and some that recently got divorced, and they are all in a bad mood.  I am sick of all these women being in a bad mood, and being no fun at all.

I know some of these women, and every one of them seems like their problems overwhelm them.  Both the customers and the employees, the young women and the older women, seem like their problems have eliminated any fun, joy, and happiness in their lives.  What they have in common, is that they all appear to be scared.  They appear to be scared about money and employment.

They are scared about money and employment, regarding themselves, their boyfriends, their fiancees, their husbands, and their ex-husbands.  They have on their mind, are they going to stay at the job they have now, are they going to make enough money, will they lose their job, will their hours be cut, will they stay in the same apartment, will they lose their apartment, will they leave Dickinson, will their boyfriend, fiancee, or husband leave Dickinson to work elsewhere?

I have known, and have been writing for a year and a half, that the oil boom is over in Dickinson, North Dakota.  I have been writing for a year and a half, what the history of oil booms in North Dakota has been.  The oil booms last for about seven years, then they go away for about twenty-five years.  I have described over and over again, that the land owners and property owners gouged all of the out of state workers so bad on housing, raising housing prices 400% to 500%, that all of the out of state workers made up their minds that they were going to leave North Dakota as soon as the oil boom was over.

I guess that this prevailing bad mood in everyone in Dickinson now, is the realization in everyone that they are going to have enormous financial problems.

Imagine this, when everyone was employed in Dickinson, and working overtime, they went and rented the apartment they could afford, bought the house they could afford, bought the vehicle they could afford, and bought the jewelry or toys they could afford.  They didn’t buy less than what they could afford, they spent up to the limit of what they could afford.  Now when people have lost their job, or are working reduced hours, how are they going to pay for everything?  What are they going to lose, and when?

Some of the people that are here now in Dickinson, moved here from Michigan, Oregon, or Idaho just a few years ago because they went broke or were nearly broke in the state where they came from.  After two years of getting back on their feet financially a little bit at a time, they can now see their financial downfall coming again.

I am not in a bad mood now, because I have been angry and disgusted at Dickinson all along, for the past six years, ever since I first came here.  I have written over three hundred blog posts complaining about Dickinson.  Every time something bad happens to me in Dickinson, I write a blog post, sometimes two blog posts a day, and then I feel better.  I saw all of this coming.  In fact, something that cheers me up, and makes me want to stay in Dickinson, is the chance to see everyone in Dickinson get what is coming to them.

Why Do I Even Care About Children In Dickinson, North Dakota

In my previous blog post, I wrote about my concern over not seeing children playing in Dickinson, North Dakota.  I do see that about 10% to 15% of the families in Dickinson do sign their kids up for, and drop their kids off at soccer, hockey, basketball, swimming, baseball, and tennis.  It is good that these families get their children involved in sports and activities.  I would say that these same families probably keep close watch over how their kids are doing in school, and what they are doing after school.

Unfortunately, outside of the small percentage of children that get dropped off at after school athletic practice, I don’t see children playing anywhere in Dickinson.  In my previous blog post, I gave many lists of reasons why children aren’t outside playing in Dickinson.  To simplify the reasons, it comes down to the fact that mothers and fathers are struggling with time, money, and energy, and it is easier for them to have their children stay inside where nothing can happen to them, they won’t get hurt, and they won’t get into trouble.

However in Dickinson, this is the worst that I have ever seen things for children.  One of the reasons why things may be the worst for children, is probably because about half of the families with children have lived here for five years or less.  These parents that moved here for the oil boom, they don’t have grandmothers and grandfathers, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, for their children to spend time with and do activities with.  Especially parents from the South, they probably don’t mix very well with the local people, and their children probably have some trouble in school getting along with local children.

That’s what is going on, but why do I care?  In Dickinson, to put it politely, the adult local people here are the most hostile, unfriendly, uncooperative, unhelpful, narrow minded, ignorant, uneducated, primitive people that I have ever seen.  I don’t want the local children to turn out like their parents.  I don’t want the out of state children to grow up and be like the local people here.

I would like to see the children in Dickinson outside colonizing vacant lots and building forts with scavenged material and found junk.  I would like to see them building tree houses.  I would like to see them outside exploring drainage ditches, canals, old barns, old bridges, and woods.  I would like to see them using their imagination, following their curiosity, developing an appreciation for adventure, enjoying exploring new things.  Knowing that it is O.K. to have fun, to have adventure, to dream and use their imagination.

I don’t want the children here to turn out like their parents, kept down, kept ignorant, kept uneducated, scared of everything new, scared to try anything new, and sour about everything that is new, foreign, or unfamiliar.  The adult local people in Dickinson remain fixed in their ways partly because of their own fear, and partly out of being conditioned to reject education, new ideas, and new ways of doing things.

Some examples:

  • I met a local man in his 70s, who was walking for exercise in the T-Rex Mall, which is about 150 feet long and 25 feet wide inside.  I talked to him about the West River Community Center which has an indoor lap track that is 1,000 feet long.  I explained that there are many older people who go there to exercise, to walk the track, to use the indoor pool, to use all the different kinds of exercise equipment.  This older gentleman was just too scared to go to the West River Community Center.  I know two other older local men, one 60 years old, and one 66 years old, and they are both too scared to go to the West River Community Center, even though they are both lonely and interested in meeting women.
  • I know more than several local people in Dickinson who are very interested in history and rodeo, but they have never been to the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame in Medora, some of them have never even heard of it.  I explained that the downstairs is a museum of North Dakota history, with old photographs, old tools, old clothes, old firearms, and old wagons.  They are interested, but they are too scared to go, even though it is only about fifty miles to the west on the interstate.
  • I have met several local people who never learned how to swim.  They would like to go boating on Patterson Lake or the Missouri River, but they have never been boating in their life.  They believe that if they were even fishing from the bank on Patterson Lake, they would drown if they fell in.  They probably would, because they are so scared of drowning and swimming is such a mystery to them that they can’t understand how to do it.
  • I hired a local person to come to work with me in Watford City.  This local person is almost 60 years old, and he has lived in Dickinson his whole life.  The last time he had been through Watford City was about ten years ago, though he had been to Watford City many times in his life.  The town of Watford City is about 1/2 mile wide by 1/2 mile long, with about 10,000 people.  In the first week, he got lost three times in Watford City, once while he was following me.  Twice he became very upset because he was so disoriented and confused. One of these times I was able to give him directions on the phone, the other time I had to go and get him.
  • A very good location for fishing, camping, and getting away from people is Cedar Dam Reservoir which is about six miles south of New England.  There is a sign for Cedar Dam Reservoir on Highway 22.  This would be an excellent place for high school students to take their girlfriends, because there is hardly ever anyone there, and there are miles of places to park on public land.  I asked one of the wildest New England girls if she had been to Cedar Dam Reservoir, and she had never heard of it, or been there.  I asked many local people who fish, if they had been to Cedar Dam Reservoir, some of them have never heard of it, most of them have never been there, though it is only about 35 miles south of Dickinson off Highway 22.

In the examples that I gave above, I was trying to explain that I have only lived in Dickinson for less than five years, but I have been many places not far from Dickinson, that lifelong residents of Dickinson have never been to, or even heard of.  This should not be.  They have been brought up and conditioned to believe that what they know, is all they need to know, they don’t need to know anything else.  That what they don’t know, is not worth knowing.  They have also been brought up and conditioned to not go looking for anything else, there is nothing else, and they need to stay right where they are, or something bad will happen.

The point of this blog post, was to explain that I don’t want children in Dickinson to be scared or unaccustomed to getting out, exploring, playing, having fun, taking risks, seeking adventure, and trying new things.  I don’t want them to turn out like the adult local people here.

Concern About Children In Dickinson, North Dakota

Approximately one year ago, I wrote a blog post titled “Children Do Not Play In Dickinson, North Dakota.”  In that blog post I wrote that I hardly ever see children playing in Dickinson.  I don’t see them in the street, in their yards, or in their neighborhoods throwing balls, rocks, frisbees, boomerangs, or spears.  I don’t see them riding bicycles, jumping ramps, building ramps, building forts, or building tree houses.  I don’t see them walking to convenience stores or grocery stores to buy candy or soda.

I wondered why I don’t see children playing, like children used to play when I was a kid.  I will give a few reasons that I could think of why children don’t play in Dickinson:

  1.   Both the mother and father work, and they have instructed their children, “Come straight home after school, get off the school bus and go right in the house, do not leave the house, do not go outside, do not break anything, do not get hurt.  Your mother and father can’t leave work to respond to an emergency, so don’t make us lose our jobs.”
  2.  The mother and father are struggling financially, they are very scared of hospital and medical bills, and they are always telling their children, “Get out of that tree, don’t climb that tree, get off the roof, get down from the roof, you stay away from that river, you stay away from that lake, get out of the street, don’t play in the street, stay away from those kids, I don’t want you playing with those kids, I don’t want you riding your bicycle, I don’t want you playing football……We can’t afford for you to get hurt.”
  3.   I have seen some parents, especially women, that think everything their children do is a nuisance, and they try to eliminate everything, “I don’t want you making a mess, I don’t want you getting dirty, I don’t want you ruining your clothes, I don’t want you getting hurt, I don’t want to take you there, I don’t want to come and get you, I don’t want you going over there, I don’t want them coming over here, I can’t afford that, we don’t have the money for that, I’m not wasting money on that.”

There is a small percentage of families in Dickinson, where the parents think that it is important for their children to do things, and they are able to spend some money on their children, and they have the time to drop their kids off and pick them up from cub scouts, boy scouts, girl scouts, soccer practice, swimming practice, hockey practice, tennis lessons, or music lessons.  Maybe 10% to 15% of families in Dickinson do this with their children.

I feel bad for the other 85% of children in Dickinson, that stay inside, mostly because they are instructed to do so by their parents.  As I already described in the numbered lists above, their parents don’t want them getting hurt or getting into any kind of trouble.

At the West River Community Center in Dickinson, which is one of the nicest gym facilities in the United States, 10% to 15% of the parents in Dickinson drop their kids off for swimming practice, basketball practice, or hockey practice.  About another 10% of the families in Dickinson encourage their children to go to the West River Community Center on their own.  But this still leaves about 75% of the children in Dickinson staying inside at home.

I am concerned about 75% of the children in Dickinson staying inside at home.  This is not good for a number of reasons.  They are not getting enough exercise, they are not developing strength, stamina, agility, balance, confidence, and learning their own abilities.  I don’t think that things should be like this, especially because Dickinson has so much open space.

In many areas of the country, they used to have summer programs.  Some summer programs were organized and sponsored by the Parks & Recreation Department, some were sponsored by churches, and some were “Outward Bound” programs.

Before any readers start complaining, “They already have the cub scouts, girl scouts, boy scouts, and little league baseball in Dickinson”, you have got to remember that only 10% to 15% of families in Dickinson participate in these organizations, for various reasons.  Some of the reasons for non-participation include the requirement/expectation to be at every meeting/practice, penalization for not being at meetings/practice, competitiveness, politics, favoritism, and lack of enjoyment by non-athletic children.

I am concerned about the 75% of children in Dickinson that stay inside at home, and are not participating in scouts, team sports, lessons, or the West River Community Center.  I want to talk about the possibilities for other summer programs.

This past summer, I was having a discussion with a well known Dickinson musician named “Boston Steve”, who is in his sixties, and moved here from Portland, Maine in 2014 with his wife Melissa.  I was talking about Patterson Lake, and how nice it was that Dickinson has this lake right in the city.  Boston Steve said, that he had to proposed to some people, having about ten Sunfish sailboats at Patterson Lake to teach kids how to sail in the summer.  He said that he would volunteer for free, if someone would provide the boats.  I thought that this was an excellent idea.

When Boston Steve was a kid, and when I was kid, I used to go sailing quite often.  Sometimes on larger boats with other people, but also by myself on two-person boats.  These were some of the best times in my life.  On a nice warm day as a kid, I could not wait to get to the water, to put the mast, rudder, and centerboard on a boat, to wade out into the water with it, to jump in, and silently and effortlessly take off going 5 mph to 10  mph, without having to peddle or paddle!

Boston Steve was not an uptight asshole, a drill sergeant, or a coach like some youth activity directors.  All he was talking about was having kids sign up, giving them all swimming lessons, and having every one of them wear life jackets.  Teaching them in a friendly manner, knowing that all the kids couldn’t wait to get in the water and get in a boat.  And at first, not allowing anyone to go past the rope line and buoys.  He would not have had many demands, rules, or expectations.  It was for fun, not a competition.

The sailing would not have to cost the kids or their families anything.  It would be nice if a city transit bus, or another transit service could pick the kids up and drop them off.

If you can have a sailing class for kids in the summer, you can also have a horseback riding class in the summer, and also a hiking class on local buttes.  Every week, the hiking class could climb a different local butte.

The Dickinson Summer Outdoor Recreation Program Schedule could be:

Mon. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon……….Kids Rock Climbing Wall Class at WRCC

Tue. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon…………Kids Sailing Class at Patterson Lake

Wed. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon……….Kids Horseback Riding Class at Fairgrounds

Thu. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon…………Kids Sailing Class at Patterson Lake

Fri. 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m……………….*Kids Butte Climb (new location each week)

Sat. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon…………..*Kids Mountain Bike (new location each week)

*Parents welcome to climb or ride along.

What would the costs be?  Let us say that each class requires two WRCC personnel, in addition to an unpaid volunteer or two.  14 hours of classes x 2 employees x $30/ hour = $840 per week.  (I use $30 to account for the wage, plus payroll taxes, plus workers comp., plus overhead).  12 weeks x $840 = $10,080.  This is the labor cost for the summer.

What do the horses cost?  Could someone provide 6 to 8 horses with saddles for two hours, once a week for $500?  12 week x $500 = $6,000.

What do the Sunfishes or equal cost?  Used ones, about $500 to $1,000 each.  10 x $800 avg. each = $8,000 one time cost.  Twenty-five life jacket = $1,000 one time cost.

What do the Mountain Bikes and BMX Bikes cost?  They cost just about nothing if you take what the City of Dickinson Police Department has in lost and stolen bicycles.  I have bought five of these bicycles for $25 each, and they don’t cost a lot to fix.  There are about fifty for sale at the Dickinson Public Auction each summer.  The inmates at the jail could fix them.  Tires, tubes, and twenty five helmets = $1,000.

Of course, of course there has to be liability insurance to cover the liability of Rock Climbing Wall class, Sailing class, Horseback Riding Class, Butte Hiking class, and Mountain Bike riding class.  What would this insurance cost be, $10,000 each summer?

Labor Cost……………$10,080

Horses…………………..$6,000

Bicycles………………..$1,000

Insurance……………..$10,000

Total = $27,080 per summer

The sailboats and life jackets would be a one time cost of $9,000.

Where does the money come from, this $27,000 per summer?  Many activities in Dickinson, such as the downtown summer concerts, raise more money than this through donations and sponsors.

The Theodore Roosevelt Airport, West River Community Center, WRCC Hockey Center, Beisiot Activities Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital, other facilities, and projects were funded through private donations.  It should be a goal of the Dickinson Parks & Recreation Department, to seek to create a charitable trust with the help of private individuals, to permanently fund summer recreation programs for children in Dickinson.  Old people like children, they don’t have anything against the poor little children.  Just a $1 million endowment, could permanently fund a $30,000 summer program.  But you would continue to seek donations to keep growing this fund.

The Haunting Of The New St. Alexius Hospital In Dickinson, North Dakota

The new St. Alexius Hospital in Dickinson, North Dakota, was completed by the end of 2014.  But before the hospital was even completed, the haunting began.

Because the hospital was owned and operated by the Catholic Church, I felt that it was significant and important that I let the upper management know that something was wrong, and that it needed to be addressed.  However, upper management were such arrogant assholes, I was unable to tell them.  I will tell everyone now, maybe it will do some good.

Not long after the east end of the new hospital was completed, the three story section of the hospital, an employee came to me who was upset, they had something on their mind that was bothering them.  In a round about way, they began to ask me if I had ever seen anything in the 3rd story window on the north side of the building.  I was blunt and slightly irritated, and I said no, wishing that they would just get to the point.  The employee was upset, and they continued, saying that they had seen what looked like a person hanging in the window on the 3rd floor.  I asked, what do you mean, hanging out the window?  The employee replied no, hanging, like someone had hung themself.  The employee said that they went inside the building and checked this room, but there was nothing in this room.  I disregarded what this employee said.

About two weeks later, a second employee was upset, and they came to me and began to ask me in a round about way, if I had ever seen anything odd in the building.  I said, like what?  This second employee, continued, asking if I had seen anything odd or unusual.  I replied that no I had not.  I was wondering why people were wasting my time and would not get to the point.

About one or two weeks after this, the first employee who came to me, and the second employee who came to me, were in a meeting with me, and the first employee said to the second employee, “Have you ever seen anything odd in the building?”  The second employee said, “Like what?”  The first employee said, “Like someone hanging in the window?”  The second employee said, “Oh my God yes, third floor, third window from the end!”  The first employee said, “Oh my God, yes!”

They were both greatly relieved that they were not the only one seeing a person hanging in the window.  They had both gone inside the building and gone to this room to see if there was someone hanging from the ceiling in this room, but there was nothing in this room, it was empty.  There were no ladders, lamps, window blinds, or anything in this room.  Nor was there anything on the walls.  Neither of these two employees wanted to work at this site anymore, and one of them would not come back.

I checked this room myself, there was nothing in this room at this time, and nothing on any of the walls.  I don’t know what could have caused two different employees to see on separate occasions, what they were convinced was a person hanging by their neck in this room.  They each checked the room themselves after the incident, and found nothing in the room.  The two employees were upset about it.

I no longer dismissed this as meaningless.  I checked to see if there had been any fatalities during construction, and there had been none reported.  I began to wonder if this wasn’t an image of some event that had not occurred yet.  Was there something that would happen during construction?  When the hospital was completed, this would be an examination room, would some tragedy happen then?

I wanted to describe these events to the hospital administrators that were involved with the completion of construction, so that they could make their own assessment of whether this was some kind of omen about a future event that could possibly be averted, but like I said already, they were such arrogant assholes, there was no telling them anything.  Maybe telling it now, and making it known, will maybe help avoid a tragedy.

Old St. Joseph’s Hospital In Dickinson, The Most Haunted Place In North Dakota

Several websites credit the Old St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, as being the most haunted place in North Dakota.  I agree with this, and I have some stories to tell.

The original 40 room St. Joseph’s Hospital was built in Dickinson in 1911, on 7th Street, several blocks east of Main Avenue.  In 1912, six Sisters from the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross in Switzerland came to Dickinson to staff the St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Additions to the facility took place in 1931, 1951, 1966, 1983, and 2000.  The Sisters ran the hospital until approximately 1987.  In 2014, the Old St. Joseph’s Hospital was closed, and the new hospital was opened about one mile to the west.

According to the website http://www.hauntedplaces.org, “Employees have reported ghostly activity from many different areas at this hospital. The elevator to the morgue runs up and down by itself; moaning and voices are heard in the cafeteria; and call buttons are activated from empty rooms. Laughing and the sound of running footsteps have been reported in the basement.”  Yes, this summation is true, I have heard this from the employees that were there.

Due to the Old St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the new St. Alexius Hospital being operated by a Catholic organization, the administrators discourage employees from talking about what happened at the Old St. Joseph’s Hospital, and what happened at the new St. Alexius Hospital.  The Catholic Church discourages recounting experiences with ghosts, apparitions, disembodied spirits, and demons, both because they think that it discomforts people, and that acknowledging these spirits and demons gives them more power.

I was able to find old employees that would talk about what they saw.  I will give you one of their stories:

Approximately twenty-five years ago, an old local farmer checked in to the Old St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.  He was approximately 75 years old.  He was well known and recognized by most of the nurses and staff, being a life long resident of Dickinson.  He was a strong and determined man, having worked his whole life as a farmer.  But now, his health was failing, he now had a serious illness.  He was in a room on the third floor, if I remember correctly.

A doctor had seen the old farmer when he had been admitted to the hospital on the first day.  The old farmer remained in the hospital for a second day, and a third day.  On approximately the third night of his stay, at approximately 10 p.m., the old farmer emerged from his hospital room, fully dressed.  He walked up to the nurse at the nurses’ station, who he knew, and he had a brief conversation saying, “Well, I have had enough, I am getting out of here, I am going to go ahead and leave.”  The nurse who knew him, she knew this was just like him, stubborn and determined.  If he was well enough to get up out of bed, get dressed, and walk out there telling her he was going to leave, she wasn’t going to try to stop him.  She said O.K., bye.

About ten minutes later, a second nurse that had been making rounds to each of the rooms, came from the old farmer’s room, and said that he had just died.  The nurse at the nurses’ station said, “That can’t be, he just came up to the nurses’ station dressed and ready to leave, he told me he was leaving, and he walked down the hall and he left.”  The nurse at the nurses’ station thought that there must be some kind of mistake, she had to go check the old farmer’s room to see for herself, and she saw that he had died in his bed.  She had had a conversation with the old farmer and watched him walk away, after he had died.

Perhaps in my next blog post, I will tell an even spookier tale, that happened at the new St. Alexius Hospital.

I Am Going To Be The Proudest Person In Dickinson, North Dakota

I am going to be the proudest person in Dickinson, North Dakota.  Who would have thought that I would end up having the greatest and longest lasting success in Dickinson?  Who would have thought that I could permanently change Dickinson for the better, and help tens of thousands of people?

On Tuesday of this week, my website was viewed by 1,102 people, on that day alone.  This is pretty good readership.  I was happy about this.  It gave me a sense of accomplishment.  I am getting the truth out about Dickinson.  I am exposing the bad things in Dickinson.  Slowly but surely, Dickinson is going to change, the more people that discover what is going on.

However, in addition to getting the truth out about Dickinson, I have found a more powerful way to change Dickinson for the better, and for ever.  There have been three oil booms in Dickinson, the 1950s, the late 1970s, and the late 2000s.  Despite thousands of workers from all over the United States coming to work in Dickinson during the oil booms, they didn’t change anything.

The early German and Ukranian settlers that homesteaded in western North Dakota in the early 1900s, had the Catholic Church as their main cultural and societal influence.  Hatred, hostility, unfriendliness, mistrust, lack of cooperation, and lack of education was fostered, supported, and encouraged in western North Dakota.  When there wasn’t an oil boom going on, the local people were not friendly, helpful, or cooperative with each other, and they looked upon someone else failing as satisfying, gratifying, and an opportunity to take advantage.  When there wasn’t an oil boom going on, the local employers paid very low wages deliberately so that the local people could not afford to protest their mistreatment, get ahead, get an education, or get out of North Dakota.

When there was an oil boom, many of the local people, especially the land owners, property owners, and real estate agents, had no morals and no ethics in taking advantage of the out of state workers tremendously.  Though there is more vacant unoccupied barren grassland outside of Dickinson than almost anywhere else in the United States, and absolutely no reason there could not be affordable housing, the local networks of Catholics conspired to create a shortage of affordable housing in order to raise housing prices by 400% to 500%.

I could point out every day, that the Catholic Church and the Catholic School in Dickinson fosters and teaches the belief that they are “better” than non-Catholics, that they are “better” and “good” in comparison to the out of state workers, and that they are entitled and have the right to take advantage of the non-Catholics and the out of state workers.  I could point out every day the network of Catholics in Dickinson in political office, in every City of Dickinson administrative office and department, in law enforcement, fire department, judicial system, school system, business association, chamber of commerce, board of directors, and private company management and ownership, that seeks to promote, benefit, favor, and advance local Catholics, and to hinder, obstruct, and not advance non-Catholics and out of state workers.  I could point this out, but this will not change things in Dickinson very quickly.

How I can change Dickinson for the better, and change it for ever, is to persuade as many black men as possible to move to Dickinson and impregnate as many women as possible, as quickly as possible.  In this way, the heirs to the land, property, and businesses in Dickinson will be these black children.  The Catholic Church will lose its control over the people in Dickinson.  The greedy, hostile, uncooperative white men and women who own and control land, property, and businesses in Dickinson will lose their control over the people in Dickinson.  The overwhelming number of black children will then grow up and take over Dickinson.

The culture in Dickinson will change as these black children grow up.  Instead of having short, fat, pale, cankle-calved, mean women, the black mixture will make the women taller, leaner, tanner, friendlier, and more rational.  The restaurants will improve, and there will be more variety in restaurants.  The character of Dickinson will become more relaxed, friendlier, and less mean, hostile, and uncooperative.

As Dickinson becomes more like New Orleans or Chicago with a majority black population, then Dickinson will be less primitive and more civilized than it is now, and safer for out of state workers to move to.

Black men are needed and wanted in Dickinson, North Dakota.  No question about it.  There is a shortage of black men in Dickinson, North Dakota.  Please allow me to explain:

  1.   The vast majority of women in Dickinson and the surrounding areas want black men, not white men.
  2.   The vast majority of women in Dickinson and the surrounding areas can’t stand white men, the way they look, the way they talk, and the things that they do.
  3.   The women have seen black men in magazines, in movies, on the internet, and on television playing professional sports, and they all want black men.
  4.   The women in Dickinson and the surrounding areas are sick of white men spending all of their money on stupid ugly big diesel trucks, ATVs, snow mobiles, hunting equipment, and fishing equipment.  The women long to go to nice expensive restaurants and luxury resort locations with a black man.
  5.   The white men in Dickinson and the surrounding areas try to control all the land, businesses, and money in a stingy greedy way, even though their wives are entitled to half of everything, and these wives want to take that money, and have a good time with a black man.

Let’s face it, the women in Dickinson and the surrounding areas, are entitled to half of the land, businesses, and money.  It seems like the white men do everything they can to make the women miserable, and not let them spend money the way they want to.  All the women are tired of being told what to do by white men.  The land and businesses are worth millions of dollars, why can’t the women use this money to have a nice life, with comfort, nice things, and travel?  They are sick of stingy greedy white men trying to control what they do.

There are hundreds and hundreds of women in Dickinson who have inherited businesses and land in Dickinson, that have become worth millions during this past oil boom.  There are hundreds and hundreds of women in Dickinson that have half ownership in land and businesses that have become worth millions.  These women only want a few things in life: to have nice things, to enjoy life, to go places, and to have the company of a black man.

All black men have to do, is come to Dickinson, and help these women realize their dreams.  All black men have to do, is meet these women, and encourage them to follow their dreams, and let them know that it is O.K. to spend money.  They have been kept down by the white men for so long.

When a black man comes to Dickinson, the first thing he needs to get is a starter girlfriend that can provide him with some money and a place to live.  Just look at the free Real Estate Guides in Dickinson.  These free Real Estate Guides have the names, photographs, and phone numbers for the real estate agent women in Dickinson.  These real estate agent women in Dickinson love black men, and they aren’t hard to get.  All you have to do is just walk into their office, stand there in front of them, talk to them a little, and ask them if they can show you something.  You just watch them smile, jump up, and try to grab the keys to some property where they can take you.  This is like a dream come true for them.

Once these real estate agent women have provided you with money and a place to live, you can look in the Dickinson phone book, and see the listings that have many people with the same last name.  Write down these last names.  You want to try to meet women that have one of these last names, because these are the women that either inherited land or businesses, or married into land or businesses.  Try to let as many of these women as possible take you out to dinner.  At dinner ask them about their family.  These women will think that you are taking an interest in them, but you are trying to find out what land and businesses their father or their husband owns or owned.

Once you find some women that inherited land or businesses, start talking to them about doing things like traveling, visiting foreign countries, visiting exotic places, going to luxury resorts, going to luxury spas.  Keep telling them that they should do things for themselves, that they deserve it.  When they talk about not having money, advise them that they should sell their land or business, or demand that their husband give them half.  Explain that what good is land or a business if it can’t do anything for them.

Once they get ready to sell their land or business for several million dollars, start talking to them about how you wish you could take them places in a luxury automobile like they were a celebrity or movie star.  Start showing them brochures for a Mercedes AMG G65.  Tell them that they would be the only woman in North Dakota riding around in one.  That all the celebrity women get driven around, they don’t drive.

Plan the most lavish, expensive, exotic, luxury vacation for two, that you will go on soon after the land or business sells.  This luxury vacation, hotel, and air fare should cost $20,000 to $30,000.  Have your girlfriend pay for it, so that it’s all taken care of and all set.  Encourage or make sure that she is bragging about this vacation to all her friends and everybody she knows.  A couple of weeks before the vacation, this is when you should have arranged for her to buy the Mercedes AMG G65.  Explain to her that you want to be worthy of her, that you would like to have the car in your name.  If she is the one who has all the money, this makes you feel not good enough for her.  What are people going to think if you don’t have anything, and she has all the money, that you are her butler.  Don’t make me feel ashamed, like I got nothing.  Start to say that you can’t go on the trip with her, if she is going to make you feel like a butler.  In order to not have to go on the trip by herself, she will put the AMG G65 title in your name.

My Fantasy Harem In Dickinson, North Dakota

Like most men, I like to ponder who I would include in my harem, if I had a harem.  In Dickinson, I already have a good pool of candidates to choose from that are written down in one of my previous blog posts titled, “List Of Attractive Women In Dickinson, North Dakota”.

In order to not be offensive and insulting to the married women over 40 years old on my “List Of Attractive Women In Dickinson, North Dakota”, these women are excused from being in my fantasy harem.  Also, in order to not embarrass the women on my list of attractive women, and to not anger their husbands, I will only use these women’s first names in this blog post.

Kaycee is excused because I think that she would be too upset and could not handle being in my harem.  Tracy is excused because she recently moved to Montana.  Melissa is excused because of her job.  I haven’t decided whether or not to include Jessica, I don’t want Jessica to be stuck in the middle of what I am about to describe below.

My harem would include Jessie, Marinna, Codi, and Kit.  I have thought about it and thought about it, and I always have the same problem.  Jessie and Marinna would be in an alliance against Codi and Kit, for the following reasons:

Jessie and Marinna are very practical.  When it is their turn to go to the grocery store, which they do together, they buy about two or three full shopping carts of food.  They even use coupons and look for what is on sale.  They buy many cartons of eggs, many gallons of milk, big sacks of beans, big sacks of rice, big sacks of potatoes, boxes of pasta, whole chickens, roasts, pork chops, and sausage.  They actually have in their heads, what meals they are going to cook, and how long this food will last.

Codi and Kit on the other hand, when they go to the store together, the whole household becomes tense even before they get back from the store because everyone knows what is going to happen.  They are going to come back from the store with boxes and boxes of cereal, Captain Crunch, Lucky Charms, Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes, Raisin Bran, Frosted Mini Wheats, Grape Nuts, and Cheerios.  Maybe some boxes of frozen waffles, maybe some chicken breasts.

This makes Jessie and Marinna become enraged, because not only do they feel that Codi and Kit wasted a lot of money on buying overpriced cereal, but they see this as an attempt by Codi and Kit to get out of cooking, by not buying anything that requires cooking.  What are we supposed to do, eat cereal every day for two weeks?

When Codi and Kit get home and put the boxes of cereal on the counter, they each open separate boxes of cereal, they each fix themselves a bowl of cereal, and they sit down and eat, acting like nothing is wrong, even though Jessie and Marinna are getting ready to kill them.

Jessie and Marinna begin to say, “Well it looks like you two aren’t planning on doing any cooking for a while.  And since you probably don’t plan on doing any cleaning either, your know what that leaves?  Yeah, you know what that leaves!”

Codi and Kit act like they are unconcerned, but they actually start to lose their appetite and wish that they had done a better job shopping.  Later, Codi and Kit start trying to clean the house, but Jessie and Marinna just say, “Too late, too late, it won’t do you any good, too late!”

This is about as far as I ever get fantasizing about my harem because there is so much conflict and fighting.

Class And Race Distinction In The South Versus Dickinson, North Dakota

On Saturday I was reading an internet news article about the poor and poverty in Charlotte, North Carolina.  According to the article, though Charlotte is doing well as far as economic and growth indicators, the poor stay poor like no where else in the United States.  The news article gave several different reasons and detailed explanations of why the poor people stay poor in Charlotte.  In being so thorough in the explanations, an uneducated or simple minded reader would not have realized that the writer was saying that this was mostly deliberate.

Yes, wealthy people in the South, politicians, leaders, and people in prominent public and private positions do not promote poor whites, poor blacks, and poor minorities.  The wealthy people in the South, do not want to have very much to do with poor whites, poor blacks, and poor minorities, other than to put them to work at physical labor jobs to make them money or get work accomplished.

In the South, there is class distinction, there are social rules, and enforcement of social rules.  If you are educated, have good manners, and enough money, you are welcome in any wealthy or upper class social environment in the South.  If you lack any of these three things, you are less welcome, but lack of good manners is not forgivable.

It happens every year, in every town or city in the South, that a person arrives who has money, possibly an education, but no manners.  This person would be thought of in simple terms as an “asshole” or a “Yankee”, or a combination of these two terms.

The “Yankee asshole” might think that they have enough money to walk over everyone else.  This mistake gets made every year.  There is enforcement of social rules.  They may buy land to build a “McMansion”, but surprisingly to them, never get zoning, use, EPA wetlands, endangered species habit threat, access road, utility easement, building plan approval.  They can try to fight it out in court.  They can spend a lot of their money on attorneys to argue with other attorneys, and appear before judges who all went to high school and college together.  The attorneys and judges don’t mind if it takes a long time and a lot of money.

An “Asshole Yankee” might think that they have enough money to walk over everyone else and start any business they wish.  This mistake gets made every year.  A local person may sell them or lease them property for a business, or maybe they won’t.  Planning, zoning, permitting may even let them start a business.  It may have been decided, let them buy the land and building from so and so, let them have their permitting, let this local contractor do the remodeling, let them hire the local electricians, plumbers, carpenters, dry wallers, painters, and landscapers.  Let them get this property all fixed up to make their restaurant.  Let them hire local people to work there.

The wealthy people’s wives and daughters may want to go to this new restaurant, or whatever business it is, to see what it looks like, what they have, and to try it out.  If enough wealthy people’s wives and daughters like a new business, the wealthy people may decide to patronize it and allow it to exist, concluding, “That asshole Yankee wasn’t so bad after all.  He created a lot of jobs, and I like his business.”  However, if the business owner continued to act pushy, aggressive, rude, and without any manners, his business would be doomed to failure.

So far, I described the enforcement of social rules as it applies to people with money, likely people from somewhere else, because they never would have been allowed to make that money in the South.  The news article that I read about poor people staying poor in Charlotte, North Carolina, does have something to do with the wealthy people in the South having control over who makes money and who gets ahead, based on what kind of person they are, and how they behave.

To educated white protestant wealthy people in the South, and to educated black protestant wealthy people in the South, it seems blatantly obvious, that you don’t give a lot of money to uneducated, uncouth, or trashy people.  To maintain order, peace, quiet, and civility in towns in the South, the educated, well mannered, well meaning people get to make and accumulate money, and the uneducated trashy naer-do-well people don’t get paid a lot of money so that they can’t cause a lot of harm.

Though I can’t explain it all in this blog post, I will try to give a brief description of what the social order is supposed to be in the South.  Husbands and wives in good families, stay together, raise their children, supervise their children, discipline their children, and try to enforce what is right and what is wrong in their families.  This means that the husbands and wives don’t cheat on each other, and that no one in the family lies, steals, or uses illegal drugs.  It is hoped that the children will do well in school, and go to college if possible.  These are basic protestant values.  It is believed that if each individual family behaves with these values, the entire community will be a good one.  These people are allowed to make money and accumulate money, and are given the opportunity for good jobs, advancement, and education.

However, on the other hand, people in the South who demonstrate destructive behavior such as: alcoholism, illegal drug use, theft, dishonesty, recklessness, carelessness, laziness, criminality, irresponsibility, and stupidity, these people are not looked upon as beneficial to the community.  These people are not considered for good jobs, advancement, or education.  In the South, it is not desirable to pay these people high wages, this would be like promoting carelessness, irresponsibility, recklessness, and stupidity.

So yes, in the South, wealthy people, people in prominent private and public positions, do try to determine and control who makes and accumulates money, and who gets ahead.  They would rather see people from good families, with good protestant morals, ethics, and values get ahead and be successful, rather than trying to equalize their communities by dividing up the good jobs with people who don’t demonstrate their protestant morals, ethics, and values.

To compare this with Dickinson, North Dakota, the local people and the local employers here in Dickinson would rather hire someone who did four years in prison than hire someone who did four years in college.  The people in Dickinson, rather than seeing someone who did four years in college as someone willing to work, educate themselves,, and apply themselves, the people in Dickinson see these people as being “no good”.

In Dickinson, North Dakota, two of the largest manufacturing companies in Dickinson, offered me, a degreed and experienced engineer, $18 per hour, forty hours per week, which equals $720 per week.  At this same time in Dickinson, concrete laborers and road flaggers with criminal records and no education, were being paid $1,200 to $1,400 per week.

In Dickinson, the way that people are paid and advanced, this is why you have ignorant uneducated workers with a new four dour 7,000 lb diesel truck trying to drive 60 mph in a 25 mph residential neighborhood.  In Dickinson, this is why if you went to the nicest restaurants in town, you  would be seated next to ignorant uneducated oil field workers telling white trash tales of drunkeness and sex with fat ugly women.

In Dickinson, this is why you have doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals coming to Dickinson and leaving within a couple of months due to having to live amongst dirty, uneducated, ignorant, white trash oil field workers, having to live in a town that functions and works at a low level, and having to work with local nurses and administrators that are a product of an uneducated and ignorant town.

One of the reasons why the local people and local employers hate educated people, and try to hire and promote uneducated people, is the Catholic Church.  The Catholic Church has nearly a two thousand year history of wanting to control people by telling them what to think and do, and discouraged education of people which would lead to them reading, understanding, and interpreting the Bible for themselves.  To the protestants in the South, by all means, please everyone educate yourself, read and understand the Bible for yourself, the more you learn and know, the better you will be.  To the Catholics in Dickinson, the less you know the better for them, the less education the better for them, this makes people easier to control, this makes people reliant on what they tell them, this makes people more able to be manipulated.

Patterson Lake Was Like WalMart Parking Lot Friday

At the house where I live in Dickinson, there is a nice gas grill on the back porch, and a nice gas grill on the front porch.  The house is in a quiet rural area.  But, about half of the time, I don’t want to eat at home, because my room mate, the home owner, starts doing things that ruin my dinner:  watching a stupid television show, talking non-stop about problems, tripping over something and causing a cascading crash that goes on for minutes.

In one of my trucks, I have a bag of charcoal briquettes, matches, charcoal lighter fluid, plates, paper towels, and utensils.  I normally have a small cook out grill in the back of my truck, but the leg screws got rusty and it was unsafe so I threw it out.  On Friday, I went to the store and bought a new small charcoal grill for $25.  I went to the grocery store and bought some hamburger meat, some hot dogs, vegetables, and aluminum foil.  I was looking forward to going to Patterson Lake to cook out because it had been a nice, warm, sunny day.

When I got to Patterson Lake, it was as busy as a WalMart parking lot, and people were driving around fast and aggressively like they were in hurry.  I hate it, and can’t understand it, when people drive fast at Patterson Lake.  Are they thinking that they are going to miss seeing the water, trees, and grass if someone else gets there first?  I have seen it before, and this is how it was on Friday, that new four door trucks and new Suburbans drive 35 mph to 40 mph to get to a parking space, come to a stop fast, and then the people don’t know what to do or why they came, and they leave in about one minute or less because it’s not like television, and there is nothing going on.  Of course there is nothing going on dumbass! it’s trees, grass, water, and clear sky.  It would have been peaceful and quiet if people like you wouldn’t keep coming and going at 40 mph.

I parked by the covered picnic tables at the north side of the parking lot.  I have been cooking out at this spot since 2011, and have done so many many times.  I had to assemble the new cook out grill that I had just bought.  As I was assembling this grill on my truck tail gate, I noticed that the new concrete path that was built last year, now passes about twenty feet from the picnic tables.  Walkers and people walking their dogs kept passing by, talking and looking at me.  I came to Patterson Lake to get away from people and eat in peace.  This location was not going to work.

When I got done assembling the new grill, I put it in the back of my truck and I started driving to the west end of the park to find a place to cook out away from people.  Half way to the end of the park, I could see that there were people parked at the west end of the park too.  I was angry, that I could not get away from people, and I would have to go home and cook out on the gas grill on the porch.  The whole point of my trip to buy a new grill and go to Patterson Lake, was to not have to eat at home with my room mate.

Though I was angry at how absurdly busy Patterson Lake was, I think that I understand it.  There are a tremendous amount of new apartments and new town homes in Dickinson.  The apartment dwellers don’t have any yard, and on a nice day, they don’t want to stay inside their apartment that they have been stuck in all winter.  The apartment dwellers want to get outside and do something.  There are not a lot of things to do in Dickinson, so the only thing that many people could think to do, was drive to Patterson Lake.  Although when they get to Patterson Lake, they don’t know what to do, and they just turn around and leave.

Almost Getting Caught By The Dickinson Police With Three Pounds Of Chicken

Something that I enjoyed very much in 2015 and 2016, was going to the City of Dickinson Public Auction that is held each summer at the public works building on Broadway Street.  In 2015 I bought two bicycles for $25 each, and in 2016 I bought three bicycles for $25 each at the auction.

At the auction, the bicycles are parked in groups of eight.  It takes the auctioneers a couple of hours to get to the bicycles, so you have time to look at all the bicycles.  I make a diagram, and I note which bicycles that I am interested in, and how much I am willing to pay.  Luckily, the initial high bidder on each bicycle group, would go pick out a bicycle that I didn’t want.  Then, for the second choice of a bicycle in a group, the bidding only went up to $25 to $30, and I was able to pick out the bicycle that I wanted.

The reason why the bidding didn’t go very high on the bicycles, was because they usually all had flat tires, chains off, messed up brake cables, messed up shifting cables, messed up handle bars and seats.  These were stolen or abandoned bicycles that no one claimed or came looking for at the police department.

Every bicycle that I bought at the auction, looked worse than it was.  They usually didn’t require any parts, just putting everything back where it belonged, making adjustments, and straightening things out.  In 2015, I gave one bicycle away because it was a little too small for me.  In 2016, I gave one bicycle away because I had too many bicycles.

The last bicycle that I had to fix, I didn’t even want to work on it, it looked so messed up.  I was thinking about giving it away, or throwing it away.  It sat outside in the yard for about eight months.  When it warmed up a couple of weeks ago, I started working on this last bike, and it only took me a couple of hours to get everything completely fixed on this bike.  This turned out to be the best bicycle of the five that I had bought.  It was the most comfortable to ride.

I had to wait about another week before the weather was good enough to ride this last and best bicycle to the grocery 4-1/2 miles away.  I live out in a rural area where there are not that many houses.  For the first two miles, there are no houses.  I like to ride on the wrong side of the road, facing any oncoming vehicles that would happen to get on the rural road.  If I rode my bicycle on the correct side of the road, and moved over onto the road shoulder when I heard a vehicle coming up behind me, I still might get run over like a pheasant or coyote by a vehicle going 55 mph and not paying attention.

It was mostly slow and tiring peddling uphill for the first two miles.  Then, when I got to the top and started to go downhill, I didn’t want to coast downhill going 35 mph on this bicycle that I had never ridden before.  When I got into town, I wanted to avoid the roads that the Dickinson police drive on.  I was tired from peddling, I could only peddle about 5 to 10 mph, and I didn’t want to ride on the right side of the road because I was worried about getting hit by a vehicle from behind, I was going so slow.  I cut through a large new residential area.

When I was riding through this large new residential area, it was a Sunday afternoon, and the homeowners did not like the looks of me.  Recreational exercise is not something most of the people in Dickinson are familiar with.  In Dickinson, somebody riding a bicycle, is a shady character who has lost their drivers’ license, doesn’t own a vehicle, and couldn’t get anyone to give them a ride.  From the glares and stares of the homeowners, looking at me like I was a vagrant, I was worried that they were going to come after me to threaten me out of their neighborhood, or call the police on me.  The Dickinson police sure would have been willing to drive up on me and jack me up like I was a vagrant.

I began to not enjoy my bike ride at all.  In Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Idaho where I had previously lived, recreational walking and bicycling is a normal everyday activity.  In Dickinson, if you are riding a bicycle, you must have something wrong with you apparently.  I would have liked to have made it out of this residential area as soon as possible, but I could only go so fast because I was tired from the first two miles being all uphill.

I made it the 4-1/2 miles to the grocery store.  I locked my bike to the bike rack, and I went inside with my small backpack on my back.  I was worried that the grocery store employees were going to tell me that I couldn’t come inside the store with my backpack on, because of a concern about shoplifting.  I did all of my shopping and paid for my groceries without any store employee objecting to my backpack.  I believe that they must have seen people before who rode their bicycle to the store.

When I was riding home from the grocery store, I cut across a downtown parking lot, and I came out of the parking lot at the middle of the block, onto the sidewalk.  I rode on the sidewalk to get to the nearest cross street, to take that street north.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the dreaded Dickinson police Chevy Tahoe coming.  Oh no, I thought, they are going to try to get me for something, riding on the sidewalk, riding against traffic, crossing the street at the middle of the block, and all because I am on a bicycle with a backpack on, with something in the backpack.  I have got to be up to something, I probably have drugs or must have just stolen something.  This is how I nearly got caught by the Dickinson police with three pounds of chicken.

Donald Trump’s Actions Against Bashar al-Assad Of Syria

On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 7:00 a.m. , Syrian government aircraft began circling a city in Syria and began dropping sarin nerve gas on the civilian population.  There were local witnesses, international observers, and U.S. military surveillance that observed and confirmed the aircrafts’ departure point, operational maneuvers, and return to Shayrat air base.

On Wednesday and Thursday, I saw television news coverage of the chemical weapons attack in Syria on Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC.  The television news coverage showed many children being treated on the street, being carried away, and being treated in the hospital for severe chemical burns on their skin.

The journalists on assignment in Syria and the military experts that were interviewed on television news on Wednesday and Thursday, all said that due to the great number of local witnesses, international observers, and U.S. military surveillance, it was definitely Syrian government forces using Syrian government aircraft that carried out the chemical weapons attack.

I was confused as to why the president of Syria would be using chemical weapons to kill civilians in Syria.  There had been enormous international pressure for Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to resign since 2013, when he used chemical weapons against civilians outside of Damascus.

I read a New York Times newspaper article on Thursday that explained that Bashar al-Assad uses chemical weapons against civilians that oppose him, in order to terrorize them and demoralize them.  Probably, he wants everyone in Syria to believe that if they oppose him, there is no one coming to help them, he can do anything he wants to do them, and no one will stop him.

Hitler, Stalin, Pol pot, Saddam Hussein, Kim Jong-un, and other dictators killed civilians to demonstrate their power, eliminate opposition, silence opposition, to incite fear, and to make people live under constant fear.  Bashar al-Assad is trying to do the same thing.

If we people here in the United States don’t like mass killings of innocent civilians, we should say so, oppose it, and do things to stop it.  The United States has made it clear to the world, the Russians, Syria, and Bashar al-Assad, since 2013, that we oppose the use of chemical weapons against civilians in Syria.  Diplomatic, economic, and military pressure has been used by the United States against Bashar al-Assad for the past four years.

Because Bashar al-Assad has ignored the warnings and pressure from the United States to not use chemical weapons to commit mass killings of innocent civilians in Syria, and he went ahead and used sarin nerve gas to kill innocent civilians on Tuesday, I believe that president Donald Trump took the correct course of action when he ordered U.S. Navy vessels on Thursday night, to launch sixty cruise missiles to destroy the Shayrat air base in Syria where the chemical attack was launched.  This prevents this air base, and the aircraft located there, from ever being used to carry out another chemical attack on civilians.

It is good that president Donald Trump made the decision to order the launch of cruise missiles to destroy Shayrat air base.  This base no longer exists now, too late, there won’t be any more attacks launched from this base.  And, if Bashar al-Assad tries to initiate a similar attack from one of the five remaining air bases in Syria, we can destroy those bases too in about one hour.  This should give Bashar al-Assad a reason to not ever use chemical weapons against innocent civilians again.

On television news, I saw that there are some journalists and some elected representatives that are saying, hold on now, we could have or should have done, this, that, or the other, waited, discussed this, pondered this, tried to work this out.  This approach has been taken for the past four years, and it resulted in Bashar al-Assad using chemical weapons against innocent civilians, again.

What president Donald Trump did, should make all dictators around the world worry about what the United States will do if they murder civilians.

If you were to watch international news in the following days, you would probably see outrage in Great Britain, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, essentially every country on Earth, that Donald Trump unilaterally decided to do this, without consulting them.  Let us face the fact, that if the United States had not acted, no other country on Earth would have taken any action, not one of them.

Each of those sixty cruise missiles probably cost $1 million each.  The U.S. military operation probably cost $100 million on Thursday night.  We should be proud that each and every one of us tax payers paid for that operation to keep civilians from being killed in Syria.  We should be receiving sincere thanks from the Syrians, and the British, Canadians, French, Italians, and Germans, etc., but we won’t receive any thanks, or acknowledgement that the United States is always having to go and save everyone else, with very little help from any other country.

Sexual Harassment Allegations At Fox News

I don’t like to hear about sexual harassment allegations.

On Earth, for more than several thousand years, females have tried to get the attention of males.  Sometimes, this was because they wanted to become impregnated by a male, or because they wanted to keep a male around to protect them, or provide for them.

As civilization became more complex, females still tried to get the attention of males.  Still, this may have been for becoming pregnant, protection, or being provided for, but other reasons were such things as increased social status and increased opportunities.

Females became aware thousands of years ago, of men’s sexual interest in them and physical attraction to them.  Females became aware thousands of years ago, how to get the attention of men, and what men were attracted to.

Females today in modern times, are aware that they can attract, distract, and seduce men with their appearance and behavior, because of men’s sexual interest in women and physical attraction to women.  Women use their sexual and physical attractiveness to men, in order to gain a boyfriend, a husband, to keep a boyfriend or husband, to gain favors from men, to gain help from men, and to gain opportunities from men.

I don’t want to hear, and should not hear, any disagreement on what I just wrote up above.  It is the absolute truth, and has been for thousands of years.

Unfortunately, it happens that a man will find a particular woman to be attractive, and she does not want to have anything to do with this man.  For thousands of years, there have been laws and punishments for men who physically assault a woman who did not want anything to do with them.  Society has always had to deal with men trying to physically take women, who did not want to be physically taken, and there were laws and punishments for this.

However, it still happens that a man will find a particular woman to be attractive, and she does not want to have anything to do with this man.  For thousands of years, men have had to try to persuade women that did not like them, to like them.  Every society, culture, and tribe on Earth has traditions and customs for men trying to persuade women who did not like them, to like them.  Offering them affection, devotion, heroic demonstrations, poetry, music, gifts, money, lands, livestock.

For thousands of years, men have been trying to negotiate with women who did not like them.  Sometimes, the negotiations of men with women have resulted in the women becoming bored, tired, frustrated, exhausted, insulted, angry, and outraged.  Sometimes the women end up liking the men, or liking what it is that they are offering.

The wisdom of all the peoples and cultures on Earth, has been that it is completely natural for men to try to win the affection of women, even women that don’t like them, though in some cultures with class distinctions it is sometimes discouraged.  Likewise, all the peoples and cultures on Earth, see that it is completely natural for women to try to be attractive to men, though in some cultures that are restrictive to women, this is sometimes discouraged.

At Fox News, you have young attractive women who are reporters or journalists who want to be on television.  The young attractive women reporters and journalists know that if they are pretty, intelligent, articulate, funny, energetic, entertaining , quick witted, and hard working, they have a chance to be on television, maybe a co-host, and maybe even the host of their own show.  All these women are competitive, they have to rise above or distinguish themselves from the many other women who also want to be on television.

In order to get noticed, these attractive women will do everything they can to have a beautiful and lovely appearance.  In order to get noticed and get helped, these women will also try to be funny, entertaining, pleasant, positive, and energetic at work.  When they do get noticed, and get helped, they are delighted, this is what they wanted.

A male producer, manager, executive, or show host may believe that a particular woman reporter is beautiful, intelligent, funny, entertaining, and energetic.  He may believe that she should be promoted to co-host, and work on convincing others and taking steps to make this happen.  The woman reporter is delighted that she is being helped, and that she may get to be a co-host.

It may happen that a male who is helping a female reporter to advance, likes her in a romantic way.  If he finds her to be beautiful, intelligent, funny, entertaining, and energetic, it shouldn’t be surprising that he likes her in a romantic way.

To step back and look at an overview of the situation:  An attractive woman has done everything she can to have a beautiful and lovely appearance, to distinguish herself and get noticed more than the other women, so that she can get help and advance in her career.  She has achieved what she sought to do, she has gotten the attention of men who like her, believe in her, want to help her advance, and they begin trying to promote her.

What happens when she got the attention of these men, made them like her, believe in her, want to help her, and they have a romantic interest in her?  If she doesn’t like them and doesn’t want to have anything to do with them romantically, she may have to listen to their unwanted proposals.  I believe that the journalists Diane Sawyer, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Martha MacCallum have had to listen to many unwanted proposals.  Even though Diane Sawyer, Kimberly Guifoyle, and Martha MacCallum have been bored, frustrated, tired, disgusted, angry, and outraged at proposals from men, they managed.

There are at least two main reasons why they managed.  They wanted to be a journalist, their career was important to them, and they weren’t going to let a man interfere with their career, so the best way to handle an unwanted proposition was to politely refuse, strongly refuse, walk away, be unavailable, or warn the man to stay away, depending on what was warranted in the situation.  A second reason, I hope, is that these women realized that they had gotten the attention of these men by their own actions and their own intentions, that they were partly responsible for their romantic interest, and that they would have to fix these situations themselves.

What has happened at Fox News regarding the sexual harassment lawsuit of Gretchen Carlson, and the recent sexual harassment lawsuit of Julie Roginsky, both of these women claim that they used to go to chairman Roger Ailes’ office and listen to him say inappropriate and sexually suggestive things that they did not like hearing.  This went on for years they claim.  It appears, from their own admissions, that they tolerated this when their careers were going in the direction that they wanted.  And it appears that they initiated their sexual harassment lawsuits when their careers at Fox News were coming to an end against their wishes, due to low ratings and low favorability.

Roger Ailes was much older than Gretchen Carlson and Julie Roginsky.  Roger Ailes was out of shape, and overweight.  He was not very physically attractive.  If he was making inappropriate sexually suggestive comments, this was probably his way of seeing if Gretchen Carlson or Julie Roginsky would make any receptive comment to his remarks.  Even though it is not liked most of the time, old men do make sexually suggestive comments to women to see if they are receptive, because sometimes they are.  Yes, sometimes they are.

Even though many women don’t want to hear sexually suggestive comments, especially from old men, some women do, and this gives them the opportunity to express their interest.  Though this can be portrayed as disgusting and offensive, this is how some people find relationships.  Just like I explained that the journalists Diane Sawyer, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Martha MacCallum have probably had to turn down the propositions of many men, in whatever way was warranted and appropriate, Gretchen Carlson and Julie Roginsky should have told Roger Ailes years ago, after the first or second sexually suggestive comment, “Please don’t make any suggestive comments, I don’t like that, please don’t do that.”  I speculate that Gretchen Carlson and Julie Roginsky didn’t object to Roger Ailes’ comments at the time, because they didn’t want to make him lose interest in them, and to continue to have some allure to him.

And as for Bill O’Reilly, I think that Bill O’Reilly verbally expresses his interest in women associates, and they run with it like a check to the bank.

Bill O’Reilly is blunt and to the point.  He works a lot, and he is older.  The women that he meets, and gets to know, are women that he works with.  After he notices a work associate, and he begins to like them, he expresses an interest in them, in a direct way.  It is not subtle, subtle, subtleness, day after day, he is to the point.  If it were a man with no importance, no good job, and not very much money, and he did the same thing as Bill O’Reilly, women would not think much about it, other than to accept or reject the romantic interest.  But because it’s Bill O’Reilly, it’s like winning the lottery.  Why let O’Reilly take you out to dinner, or take you on a trip, when you can get $5 million?

St. Alexius Hospital, Dickinson, North Dakota

Up until approximately 2016, the hospital in Dickinson, North Dakota, had been called the St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Then, its name changed to the St. Alexius Hospital.  What was this all about?  What happened to St. Joseph?

When I looked up St. Joseph on the internet, this was Joseph, the husband of Mary, Mary who was the mother of Jesus.  This is about as prestigious as you can get, as far as being a saint.  But there were also about ten other St. Josephs:  St. Joseph of Arimathea, St. Joseph Marello, St. Joseph of Leonessa, St. Joseph of Cupertino…

I don’t know which St. Joseph the St. Joseph’s Hospital was named after.  I don’t know if I could ever find a definitive and correct answer on this.  I will let you know if I do.

Who is St. Alexius?  And why did they change the name of the hospital to the St. Alexius Hospital?  I looked up St. Alexius on the internet.  St. Alexius was the son of a wealthy Roman senator.  As a young adult, St. Alexius fled from his wealthy family in order to live anonymously in poverty.  Eventually, according to Wikipedia, “…he returned to Rome, so changed that his parents did not recognize him, but as good Christians took him in and sheltered him for seventeen years, which he spent in a dark cubbyhole beneath the stairs, praying and teaching catechism to children.

When I read that St. Alexius returned to his parents’ home and lived for seventeen years in a dark cubbyhole beneath the stairs, praying and teaching catechism to children, then I knew that St. Alexius Hospital was the right name for this hospital in Dickinson, North Dakota.  It all made sense then.

Hardly Any Civility, In Primitive Dickinson, North Dakota

About one month ago, I was ready to leave Dickinson.  The economy is not doing very well in Dickinson, work at my current job is slow, there are very few job openings, and there are very few good jobs.  The owner of the house where I live in Dickinson was behaving like he needed to have an involuntary medical and mental evaluation.  It appeared that it was time for me to go.

It was going to take me about three trips to drive my trucks, trailers, equipment, and personal belongings back to Idaho.  I moved one truck, and about half of my equipment back to Idaho in early March.  While I was back in Idaho, though the people were surprisingly friendly in comparison to North Dakota, and I wanted to stay, I realized that I could not stay.  Job openings and good jobs are still scarce in Idaho, and the wages are low.  I don’t really understand how everyone that I dealt with during my trip back to Idaho was so pleasant, helpful, and cordial, when they make barely enough or less than enough to get by.  The convenience store cashiers, fast food workers, restaurant workers, hotel clerks, hardware store employees, and the employees of other businesses were all friendly and helpful.  (This is civility, even though these people were just barely getting by financially, or making less than enough to get by, they were still pleasant, friendly, helpful, and cordial.)

Idaho was a little better and nicer than how I remembered it, so settled down and pleasant.  I began to think, and I became more and more convinced, that the hoodlums, dirt bags, drug addicts, and white trash must have mostly left Idaho and moved to North Dakota for the oil boom, and stayed there.

I did some work on my house in Idaho for a few days.  I knew that I had to drive back to Dickinson, North Dakota to either get more trucks, trailers, and equipment to bring back to Idaho, or stay in Dickinson and find another job.  My neighbors to the north of me in Idaho, they had left their home in Idaho in 2011 to go to work in Texas, because the wages were so low in Idaho.  They were still gone, leaving their home sitting there vacant, like I had been doing since 2011 also.

When I arrived back in Dickinson, North Dakota after being gone for about a week, the owner of the house where I live in Dickinson was on his best behavior.  Once it got to be about 9:00 p.m., he went to his bedroom and stayed there for the rest of the night, instead of yelling, screaming, and talking to himself in the living room all night.  I had worked with developmentally disabled people, mentally disabled people, and terminally ill people for about three years in the past.  These people can have hallucinations and delerium all night, for all kinds of reasons, and then be O.K. during daylight hours.  I don’t know many people that could have put up with this yelling, screaming, and talking to no one all night, for very long.  When it became too much for me, I tried to find someone that would let me park my two extra trucks and two equipment trailers on their farm property in Dickinson, so that I could move into an apartment. But not even people with 300 acres or 3,000 acres would let me park two trucks and two trailers on their property in Dickinson.  (This is a lack of civility.  In Idaho, people with a 1/4 acre lot would have tried to find a place for me to park one of my trucks and one of my trailers.)

After I was back in Dickinson for two weeks, a man called me to ask me if I could do some work for him.  I said to him that I had taken about half of my equipment back to Idaho, but I would look at what he had, and see what I could do.  I had been thinking to myself that I did not want to do any more self employment contracting work in Dickinson, North Dakota because I believed that the money was gone from here.  Though most of my customers in Dickinson had been nice to me, overall, I have a terrible opinion of the people in Dickinson because of so many bad experiences with the people here, and I did not want to do any more contracting work in Dickinson.  This is one reason why the first thing that I took back to my home in Idaho was my equipment, I did not want to do any work for the people in Dickinson any more.

I looked at what work the man needed done.  Though I wouldn’t have to spend all day at his house, the job would take up a whole day for me due to the amount of equipment that I would need to load, bring, unload, re-load, take home, and unload.  A lot of trouble, a lot of responsibility, a lot of liability, for not much money.  I did not want to do this job, but I gave him a price that would pay for my labor, with no profit.  I knew from the first time that I worked for him, that he was tight.

As we stood there beside his nice home, and his brand new car, I handed him my estimate.  He did not like my estimate, it was too high.  Keep in mind, as I have just explained, I did not want this job, it was too much trouble, responsibility, and liability for just a small amount of money, that was just for my labor, with no profit.  When you do contracting work, when you don’t wan to do a job, you double your estimate so that you don’t have to do the job, but I didn’t want to be rude or be an asshole.  (This is civility, trying to help and be polite to a customer, even though the job pays very little and you don’t want the job.)

When you do contracting work, you are never supposed to break down your work estimate into all the details, because it is not good business practice to show and explain all of your costs and expenses.  Explaining the details would allow someone else to start the same business, it leads to someone trying to do the work themselves when all of the details are explained, and it leads to the customer questioning and debating costs, including what you pay yourself for labor.  In this case, because I knew that this customer was so tight, I wrote out what all the costs were. I gave this customer the previous receipts so he could verify these costs, possibly try to do the work himself, or possibly try to get someone else to do the work.  As he could see, what was left over for labor was not very much.  He said that he had to think about this and get back to me, which meant he had to call some other people to get estimates.

What I did not tell this customer, was that in order to do this job, I was going to have to go buy $300 to $800 worth of equipment to replace the equipment that I had just taken back to Idaho.  The cost of this equipment was more than I would make on this job.  I would have to use this equipment on many more jobs in order to pay for it and actually make money with this new equipment, which would be speculating and taking a chance that I would have more contracting work in Dickinson.

Not wanting this contracting job, and not wanting to go buy equipment to replace the equipment that I had just taken back to Idaho, I went to a local equipment dealer in Dickinson where I had bought this same equipment for $800 last year.  The dealer had one piece of equipment that I needed the most, in stock for $350.  The second $450 piece of equipment was less critical for this job and he had several of these.  I explained to the equipment dealer that I had taken half of my equipment back to Idaho, that is why I needed to buy this same equipment again from him.  I said that I was waiting on the go ahead from the customer.  I asked the equipment dealer if he was likely to sell this piece of equipment in the next week, and he said no.  I asked him if he did sell it, how long would it take him to re-order it and get one here, he said three days.

I had been to this equipment dealer in Dickinson about five or six times in the past three years concerning equipment repair and replacement.  He had always been kind of rude to me. I thought that his attitude would change and be more positive after I began buying equipment from him, which I did on three occasions  Just in case the piece of equipment that I needed got sold, I went to other equipment dealers in Dickinson to see what else I could get that might work, though it wouldn’t be exactly what I wanted.

After about a week had passed since I gave the customer my estimate, which he thought was too high, he called me to tell me to go ahead and do the work.  I thought that he had had enough time to get other work estimates, which I believe he did, and mine was probably the lowest.  I had to arrange for a time when the homeowner would be home for me to do the work.

I went to the equipment dealer in Dickinson to buy the piece of equipment that I had looked at, and it was gone.  It had been sold.  I was frustrated because I had agreed to do this job, which I did not want, which would pay very little, and I had to buy new equipment, which I already had in Idaho, and this equipment cost more than I would make on this job, and now this equipment was not even available.  I was not rude, but I was upset, and I asked the equipment dealer how long would it take to order this equipment and get it to Dickinson.  The equipment dealer was rude, shitty, and hostile acting to me, so I told him I was sorry he no longer had the equipment, and I left.  (This is the primitive lack of civility in Dickinson.  I was there to buy equipment that the dealer had in stock, but he had sold it, so I wanted to order it.  This is completely backwards that a business owner would become rude, shitty, and hostile when you are trying to buy expensive equipment from him.)

I went to a few other businesses in Dickinson to see what I could get.  One equipment dealer in Dickinson had something that I could make work, but it was not what I wanted.  I bought two pieces of equipment, and took them back to the house where I live in Dickinson to start working on them.  I was working on these two pieces of equipment in the side yard, when I saw and heard a new Ford F250 diesel extended cab 4×4 try to drive as fast as they possibly could go, down the residential street in front of the house.

The speed limit in this neighborhood is 25 mph.  There are infants that were just born whose mothers push them down the street in strollers, toddlers that are just learning to walk that walk down to the end of their driveways, children that are just learning to ride their bicycles that ride in the street, high school kids that are just learning to drive, and elderly people in their 80s that slowly back out of their driveways that can’t see and can’t hear like they used to.  This was just the icing on the cake in Dickinson, some worthless, ignorant, uneducated, white trash, piece of shit oil field worker that has to drive his 7,000 lb truck up to 60 mph so that there is no way he could possibly stop in time to keep from hitting someone’s toddler, young child, high schooler, or elderly grandparents.  There is no civility here, the people are so ignorant and primitive.

The Ballsiest High School Girl I Ever Saw In Dickinson, North Dakota

One of the few things that I like to do in Dickinson, North Dakota is go to the West River Community Center and walk the indoor track.  Five laps around the track equals one mile.  I like to walk more than I like to jog or run, because I like to think.  Sometimes, I walk as many as forty laps.

Most of the other indoor track users only go for four or five laps, losers.  I walk so many laps, it can take me a couple of hours.  Over the past couple of years, I have gotten to see all of the track users.  By far the best runner of all, is this young blonde girl.  She is about 5′-2″, weighs about 100 lbs, is between 16 years to 20 years old, she sometimes wears glasses, and she puts her moderately long blond hair in a pony tail.

Unlike all the other runners, this young blonde girl will run for twenty laps.  Unlike all the other runners, she doesn’t slow down, she runs the same speed, which is pretty fast, the whole time.  She doesn’t stomp, waddle, limp, breathe hard, or show any kind of weakness.

For a while, I don’t think that she liked me, because I was walking, not running.  But she seemed to dislike me less when she realized that I was walking eight miles.  After she quit disliking me, she seemed to be relieved when I was there, because I didn’t bother her, I was older, and no one could do anything to her when I was there.  Some young high school boys did try to bother her one time.  She was very pretty, and not very big.

One evening not long ago, I walked the track at the West River Community Center, and when I got done at about 8:00 p.m., I went to a bar where I know the employees and the customers.  I was thinking to myself, this isn’t normal to go exercise for a couple of hours and then go to a dark, dive bar.  As I was sitting there thinking this, in walks this little blonde 5′-2″, 100 lb girl, with the pony tail, that is the best runner that I have just been describing, Holy Shit!

The bartender girl that I know, who jogs about four or five laps at the West River Community Center, walks over to the 5′-2″, 100 lb girl, and says, “I recognize you from the track, but you look so young, I have to ask you for your ID.”  The young girl says, “Yes, I know, I’m actually a medical doctor.”  She ordered her drink, and then she went and sat at the black jack table and played black jack.

I thought to myself, “Man, that is the ballsiest high school girl that I have ever seen!  Not only coming into a bar and ordering a drink, but telling the bartender she was medical doctor, and then going and playing black jack, on a school night even!”

Locum Tenens, Sugit Loco Isto, Dickinson, North Dakota

Dickinson, North Dakota goes through a lot of doctors and nurses.  As I explained in a recent previous blog post, I see brochures, pamphlets, newspaper advertisements, and press releases about a new medical professional arriving at an office, clinic, or facility in Dickinson, and then within a couple of months, they are out of here.

It really does not look good on a medical professional’s resume, to accept a position, and then leave within just a few months.  It looks like something went wrong, like there might possibly be something wrong with this medical professional.  It makes a prospective employer wonder what went wrong, what happened, and is this person likely to do this again?

A medical professional sure had better have a good reason for taking off so quickly.  They do, “It was Dickinson, North Dakota.”

As I explained in a recent previous blog post, a medical professional could spend half of their income on a place to live in Dickinson, and they would still be living amongst dirty uneducated oil field workers, and having to listen to and smell their dirty diesel truck loudly idling right outside their windows.  In addition to this, the local facility administrators and the local nurses are ignorant, locally educated, primitive, backwards, mean, hostile, unfriendly, not cooperative, not helpful, and hateful.  This is why Dickinson goes through so many doctors and nurses.

In order to fill the medical staff shortages, many facilities in Dickinson hire doctors and nurses through temporary agencies.  These medical professionals are referred to as “locums”.  I asked a doctor if they were referred to as a “locum”, and they said yes, actually, more formally they were referred to as a “locum tenens”.

I had at least three years of French, which is based on Latin, and one year of Latin, and it was annoying and puzzling to me that the temporary medical professionals were referred to as “locums” or “locum tenens”, because these words have nothing to do with medicine, and I wondered what the hell they were talking about.  The literal translation of “locum tenens” means “place holder”, I looked it up.

Back in a more civilized time in world history, temporary medical professionals were referred to as “locum tenens” or “place holder”, because they were merely filling in for a medical professional who was absent or on leave.  I was reading this, and I was thinking to myself about Dickinson, “Yeah, right, absent or on leave, Ha!”

I have got to find a better Latin name for the medical professionals who come to Dickinson, North Dakota to fill the staff shortages which are a result of the hostile hateful local administrators, nurses, and poor living conditions in Dickinson.  What is a Latin phrase for coming to work in a horrible place, or what is a Latin phrase for coming to work where the local co-workers and administrators keep driving people away?

Using an English to Latin translation, “working in a horrible place” translates to “opus horrendo loco”.  “Working with bad people” translates to “mala operatus est populus”.  “This place sucks” translates to “sugit loco isto”.

I think that advertisements for “locum tenens” in Dickinson, North Dakota should be supplemented with “sugit loco isto”, to be more accurate and not misleading.

What I Mean By Ignorance In Dickinson, North Dakota

In many of my blog posts, I write about ignorance, backwardness, lack of education, and hatred of educated people in Dickinson, North Dakota.  In this blog post, I will give some specific examples.  Some readers may ask, what is my point?, why even bother?  I try to write about what living in Dickinson, North Dakota is like.  It is difficult, tiring, frustrating, and miserable to try to communicate, converse, accomplish things, and complete work when local Dickinson people don’t understand, can’t understand, won’t understand, and refuse to understand proven facts, mathematics, mechanics, and engineering.

  • I was trying to explain tire sizes to a local Dickinson man.  I gave some examples, a typical 235/75 R15 tire, is a tire that is 235 milimeters wide across the face of its tread, the 75 is the aspect ratio, it is the ratio of the the height of the tire to the width of the tire, 0.75.  The R15 is the wheel size.  The Dickinson man could understand the wheel size, such as R15, R16 etc., but no matter how many times I explained, wrote out the mathematical formula, printed out the explanation and formula from a tire manufacturer, he kept insisting that a 235/75 R15 tire was narrower than a 235/75 R16 tire.  Finally, I made a fixed solid template that was exactly 235 mm wide and went to all the different 235/75 tires to show him the tire width is the same.  This Dickinson man was so stubborn, he absolutely refused to look at the fixed template being put on all the tires, and continued to insist that the tire width changes.  I handed him the template to see for himself, and he would not use it even though all the tires were twenty feet away.
  • I was trying to explain to a local Dickinson man, that some vehicles like Mercedes, BMW, Subaru, and Toyota have all time four wheel drive, or all time all wheel drive.  You can not allow a tow truck to pick up one end of these vehicles and tow it with the other two wheels on the ground, because it will break the linkage in the transfer case.  I read a service bulletin to him, and I handed him the printed out service bulletin, that explains if you tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee Quadratrack or a Toyota LandCruiser even ten feet with two wheels remaining on the ground, it breaks a chain linkage in the Jeep transfer case, and it breaks a viscous coupler in the Toyota transfer case.  The Dickinson resident refused to believe, and continued to deny, that there was any other possible transfer case connection other than gear to gear, and that Mercedes, BMW, Subaru, Toyota all time four wheel drive or all time all wheel drive was the same as Ford and Chevrolet four wheel drive trucks.
  • I was asking a local Dickinson man if his flat bed, double axle trailer had trailer brakes because he was talking about loading it with 12,000 lbs.  He said that he had disconnected and removed the trailer brakes.  I was talking to him about an electric brake controller, and that most full size trucks have an under dashboard plug to connect an electric brake controller.  The local Dickinson man said to me, “Electric brake controllers are only good in a few situations.”  I then knew that he had a serious misconception about electric brake controllers, thinking that you had to physically pull a lever every time to apply the trailer brakes.  I explained to him, that back in the 1990s my Ford F150 and my Dodge 1500 both had a plug for an electric brake controller under the dashboard.  I bought an electric brake controller for each truck.  When you put your foot on the brake pedal, the electric brake controller light comes on in intensity related to how hard you press the brake pedal, and it sends the brake signal to the trailer brakes, it is automatic, you don’t have to pull a hand lever.  The Dickinson man refused to believe me, he thinks that there is no such thing, even though electric brake controllers have been like this for at least the past thirty years.
  • I was asking this local Dickinson man why he wanted to load his trailer with 12,000 lbs.  He said, “With two 3,500 lb axles, you should be able to load a trailer with 12,000 lbs.”  Two 3,500 lb axles would give you a load limit of 7,000 lbs, minus the weight of the trailer, which I tried to explain to him, which he didn’t want to hear.
  • The longest time employee at an oil field service company in Dickinson had been driving the same bucket truck for ten years.  This employee got a shop jack, placed it under the truck, had to get a wood block spacer, and began jacking up the rear of the truck to remove the rear wheel to work on the leaf springs.  I did not want him working under the truck with it only supported by the shop jack, so I got some railroad tie blocks to put under the rear of the truck.  Then it occurred to me, there are rear hydraulic outrigger stabilizers that get lowered down about ten times each day that completely lift the rear end and rear wheels off the ground, why are we using a shop jack with a wood block spacer to lift the rear of the truck off the ground?  This employee has lifted the rear of this truck and rear wheels off the ground ten times each day, for the past ten years, with this truck’s own hydraulic outriggers, why didn’t this occur to him?

Above I gave some simple clear examples of being frustrated by people in Dickinson, North Dakota.  The frustration comes in part from the people not knowing, then more frustration comes when they don’t know that they don’t know, and the most frustration comes when you can’t convince them with documentation and proof.

Many things are harder to see, know, understand, and explain than the simple clear examples that I gave above.  The examples that I gave above dealt with physical mechanical things that you can see, name, point to, and touch.  Living and working in Dickinson, North Dakota involves inter-relation between economics, business, politics, religion, culture, values, and ethics.  Now that I think about it, what I have been doing in most of my other blog posts is expressing frustration and explaining the ignorance in economics, business, religion, culture, values, and ethics in Dickinson, North Dakota.

To answer your question real quick, what ignorance?:  Raising rent and housing prices 400% to 500%;  collusion in creating a housing shortage and high housing prices;  mistreatment of out of state workers;  Catholic Church teaching and fostering hatred, hostility, usury, lack of cooperation, and unfriendliness;  holding people down by keeping them uneducated and teaching them to hate education and educated people.

Nurses And Doctors Don’t Want To Work Or Live In Dickinson, North Dakota

Nurses and Doctors don’t want to work or live in Dickinson, North Dakota.  From the nurses and doctors that I have met in Dickinson, from them quickly leaving Dickinson after arriving here, from the many temporary agency nurses and doctors in Dickinson that are here to staff the medical facilities, from the temporary agency nurses and doctors that never come back, from the emergency medical flight crew members that refuse to come back to work in Dickinson, from the constantly recurring job advertisements for the same medical personnel for the same position at the same facility, I can see that nurses and doctors don’t want to work or live in Dickinson, North Dakota.

Everywhere in the United States, nurses and doctors are in demand.  They can pick where they want to go.  They asses what they will be paid versus the cost of living, what the medical facility is like, what the healthcare professionals are like, what their work environment will be, what is the character of the community, what can they do outside of work.  What is Dickinson, North Dakota like?

After spending many years in a difficult, demanding, and expensive course of study, nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, physicians assistants, and medical doctors all want to have, and expect to have a good quality of life.  One of the most important things to them is to have a nice, appealing, comfortable place to live.  These professionals when they are young and have large student loans to pay off, are willing and able to pay up to $2,000 per month for an apartment when they first relocate to a new town for work.  Normally, this would allow them to have an apartment on the ocean, a river, a lake, or mountain, that was quiet and peaceful.  However in Dickinson, any young medical professional could spend half their income on an apartment and they would be living amongst dirty oil field workers, their dirty filthy trucks, and instead of peace and quiet, they would be listening to diesel trucks idling loudly outside their window.

The young medical professionals wanted and expected to have a good quality of life, they looked forward to going out to nice clubs and restaurants after work, going to the beach, hiking in the mountains, snow skiing, and meeting and socializing with new friends.  In Dickinson, everywhere you go the town is full of uneducated and ignorant oil field workers and local people.  The oil field workers were often obnoxiously rude, and the local people were unfriendly, not helpful, hostile, and hateful.  There are no nice clubs and restaurants in Dickinson because they allow the oil field workers in, there is no nice beach, no mountains to hike or ski on.

Many of the young medical professionals that came to Dickinson, quickly left after arriving here.  You would see a pamphlet, brochure, or press release about a new medical services professional joining an office, clinic, or facility, and in a few months they would be gone.  There were no nice places for them to live, there were no nice places for them to go outside of work, there were no professional peers their own age to meet and socialize with, there were no exciting, fun, or interesting activities, things to do, or places to go.  They could have gone and used methamphetamine and crack with the oil field workers.

Though there are a few older dentists and doctors in Dickinson that behave like medical professionals, many of the nurses and health care administrators in Dickinson are ignorant, backward, primitive, malicious, hostile, hateful local people with local educations.  These local nurses and local health care administrators in Dickinson are like fiends and psychopaths from movies, or like the Germans in WWII.

For the older nurses and older doctors that work for temporary agencies that come to Dickinson to fill the staff shortages at medical facilities, it is these local Dickinson nurses and local healthcare administrators that make them not ever come back.  They have not ever seen people in professional positions behave in such an ignorant, backward, primitive, malicious, and hostile manner.  They quickly see why there is a shortage of medical professionals in Dickinson.  For the young medical professionals, they leave Dickinson within a few months because work is so bad, and the town is so bad, even though they know having such a short tenure on their resume looks very bad.
