These Two Men Are More Feminine Than Women In Dickinson, North Dakota

Below, I am going to show you two short YouTube videos of two very attractive young women.  They are both young, healthy, thin, good looking, feminine, well spoken, reasonable, and logical.  The only problem is, they are both male.

These two men, at a point in their lives after puberty, began to believe that they would prefer to be women.  After they had made up their mind that they wanted to be women, they began growing their hair long, growing their finger nails longer and painting their nails, applying make up to their face, and dressing in women’s clothing.

They had to learn how to speak like women, and behave like women.  They began to learn and practice female mannerisms and movements.  They had to learn to become feminine in every way.

Here is the point of this blog post, these men made an effort to be feminine, soft, appealing, and attractive, to the point that they are more attractive and desirable than about 95% of the women in Dickinson, North Dakota.

In other words, with some effort, these two men are way hotter than 95% of the women in Dickinson, North Dakota.  I think that this kind of proves that there is something wrong with the women in Dickinson, North Dakota, that men from elsewhere are hotter than the women in Dickinson.

This first man, is more of a coquettish type woman:

This second man, is more of a sophisticated woman:

I am sure many readers would like to comment, “Hey, go for it, he/she is all yours…ha, ha, ha.”  Joking aside, 100% of the men in Dickinson would like to date these two women.  And, if they found out that these two women were actually men, about 50% of the men in Dickinson would still date them, because they are so desirous of the company of women like this.

I would like to have a girlfriend like these two women, or date these two women, if they were women, because they do act so appealing.  Women in Dickinson could learn a tremendous amount from these two men.  Why don’t the women in Dickinson know how to put themselves together like these two men?

Review Of Luke Simons’ Gentlemen’s Barber Shop In Dickinson, North Dakota

I met Luke Simons in about 2015 at the church where his father is the Pastor.  I was surprised how friendly and talkative Luke was, because most people in Dickinson are not like this with people from out of state.

At that time, I didn’t know anything about Luke, I didn’t know that he had been a barber, or that he intended to run for election in North Dakota state government.  I just knew that he owned and operated a roofing business, Simons’ Roofing.

It was either in 2015 or 2016, that Luke developed a very serious illness where he became unable to walk, and later unable to move.  He spent at least a month in the hospital in Bismarck, where he was diagnosed with something called Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Guillain-Barre Syndrome causes muscle weakness and paralysis.  30% of the adults who recover from Guillain-Barre Syndrome never fully regain their previous level of muscle strength, and have residual muscle weakness.

Luke almost died in the hospital, but then he began to recover, and later over the following months he became able to walk again.  As far as I knew, Luke resumed his cattle ranching business, and his roofing business.  Luke was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 2017.

About one month ago, Luke made an announcement on Facebook that he was opening his own barber shop in Dickinson, called The Gentlemen’s Barber Shop.  It was going to be located in the same building as his father’s business Simons’ Homes, directly east of the WalMart parking lot.

In Facebook comments or somewhere else, Luke was admitting to his friends that he had never recovered his complete strength, and that he was not able to be on the job sites doing the actual roofing work all day long, so Monday through Wednesday, he was now going to spend working in his own barber shop.

The Big Sky Barber Shop had the two best barbers in Dickinson, Matt and Paul.  They charged $20 for a haircut, and they were always completely booked all day, every day, Monday through Saturday, every week.  They couldn’t hardly ever accept walk-ins, because they were so completely booked.

I have very fine thin hair, with much more dense hair on the sides, than on the top.  The only barbers in Dickinson who could cut my hair and make it look good, not sticking out on the sides, were Matt and Paul.  I would have to wait weeks longer than I wanted to, to get a haircut, because Matt and Paul were completely booked, during the times when I was off work.

I had been thinking for a couple of years, that a barber in Dickinson would do very well to have late business hours, because so many men in Dickinson work until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  Like me, many men in Dickinson would have to wait weeks for the chance to get their hair cut during barbers’ business hours.

I saw that Luke’s barber shop was going to be open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, which I thought was a very good idea to stay open until 7:00 p.m.  I was a little hesitant to get my hair cut with Luke though, because I didn’t think that he had cut hair for a while.

I did not have anything important to do any time soon, where my appearance would matter, so I thought that now would be a good time to try to get my hair cut by Luke.  His barber shop was just completed this past week, so when I went in, everything was new.  The barber shop had plenty of room, and the bathroom was down the hall, where there is an extra room for his office, and an extra room for a pool table.

Luke did a very good job cutting my hair.  It turned out just as good as when Matt or Paul at the Big Sky Barber Shop cut my hair.  This is hard to do, to cut my hair so that it doesn’t look funny, because like I already said, my hair is very thin and fine, being more dense along the sides and much more sparse on the top.

I would recommend going to Luke the barber, and I hope that everyone will keep in mind that he is open for business until 7:00 p.m., if you are finding it difficult to get your hair cut due to work.

One Of The Reasons Why There Is So Much Crime And Drug Dealing In Dickinson, North Dakota

I had meant to write this blog post several days ago, after a reader from Seattle, Washington left a comment about her hearing on the radio that politicians in Dickinson were telling people to move to Dickinson, North Dakota.

When I read her comment, I said to myself, “I knew it!  I knew it!  There are idiots in Dickinson, who are announcing to the most crime infested areas like Seattle and Spokane, Washington…Come to Dickinson!  Come to Dickinson!”  This is why so many criminals and drug dealers from Washington state have been arriving in Dickinson this past year.

Here is her comment, I partly blocked out her user name, because she didn’t know that I was going to quote her:

Dickinson58601 Living In Dickinson North Dakota thanks for the honesty. I don’t recommend the Seattle area because of the crime rate. The city is rolling out the red carpet for the criminal homeless— recent rapes being committed by guys coming in from other states and living in tent camps. A woman was attacked in a rest room in a car dealership in what used to be a nice area. Another was attacked in a beach park that I used to go to frequently, I never was afraid there. I listened to radio from the Dickinson area and the politicians were eager to get families to settle there and build community—- alas
I checked out Dickinson to see if I could live and work there. Rent was too high.
.
Please read the above comments from Lily in Seattle, about the amount of crime in Seattle.  Also, note that she heard on the radio that politicians in Dickinson want people to move to Dickinson, North Dakota.  The problem is, this message is being heard in the highest crime, highest drug dealing, highest unemployment areas in the country.
.
What reminded me to write this blog post today, was that I was standing at my sliding glass door of my apartment balcony this morning, when some very trashy criminal looking people parked their beat up car in the parking lot and began walking into the apartment building.  What do I mean by trashy criminal looking people, you may ask?
.
Professional people, trades people, and blue collar people who work, try to get where they are going with the least amount of trouble, problems, or conflict.  Trashy people and criminals, act like they are looking for trouble, problems, or conflict wherever they go.
.
When I saw their Washington state license plate, it dawned on me who they were.  The Stark County Sheriffs have been to my apartment building several times in the past ten days trying to serve these particular individuals court papers.  Each of them has various charges to respond to, including threatening to shoot several people.
.
These people have been hiding from the Police for about ten days, and are driving a different vehicle in order to not be recognized.  I wanted to call the Stark County Sheriff Department to let them know that they are here now, because I want these people out of the building where I live.  But I didn’t call the Police and let them know, because I would expect these criminals from Washington state to cut my car tires and break my car windows in retaliation.

Warning About Drowning In Patterson Lake

In November of 2014, there was a sale at Menards in Dickinson, where the 11 ft. kayak canoes were only $160.  I bought two of them, one for me, and one for a friend to use.  I call them kayak canoes, because they are half kayak, and half canoe.  They are more enclosed than a canoe, but not completely enclosed like a kayak.

From the waterproof rubber hatch on both the bow, and the rear, I thought that there was a water tight sealed compartment in both the bow and the rear, but there wasn’t.  The interior of the kayak canoe had no sealed compartments, and no flotation foam installed anywhere.

I knew that because there was no flotation foam installed, and no sealed compartments, that if you got enough water in these kayak canoes, they would sink.  I think that I would advise and warn everyone, to not ever try to paddle one of these cheap kayak canoes across Lake Sakakaweja, because if something happens, like you get tipped over, or hit by a power boat, these kayak canoes can sink.

I have been rowing boats and paddling canoes by myself since I was 8 years old.  I have never tipped a canoe over, because I was scared, of both drowning and getting hypothermia in the water.  I knew many times while crossing wide, deep rivers, with fast currents, alligators, water moccasins, and sharks when I was a small kid, that if I tipped over, I would probably die from drowning, hypothermia, or something getting me.

This was kind of the same thing for trappers and outdoorsmen in Alaska.  The only means of transportation in some very remote areas of Alaska was by canoe.  A person might have all of their gear and supplies packed in their canoe in the Alaska wilderness, and due to their distance from the shore, the coldness of the water, and being alone, they knew that if they tipped over, they were dead.

When I first tried out my $160 kayak canoe on Patterson Lake in the Spring of 2015, I stayed within 100 ft of shore to see how stable or how tippy this kayak canoe was.  It was O.K., but on the first day, I just paddled along the shoreline around the lake, I didn’t try to cross in the middle of the lake, which is about 1/2 mile wide.

In the Spring of 2016, a person that I know from the Coeur D’Alene area of Idaho came to stay at the house where I was living in Dickinson, his name was Mike.  I had met Mike in Dickinson in the Spring of 2013, and he was an acquaintance of mine in Dickinson in 2014 and 2015.

After Mike had been staying at the house where I was living in Dickinson for a couple of weeks, I asked him if he wanted to go kayaking with me.  I asked Mike if he could swim, and he said that he had been going to a recreation center in Idaho where he had been swimming a mile in the pool, a couple of time each week.  I said to him, you can swim a mile, and he said that yes he could.

I then warned Mike about the water in Patterson Lake being cold, that he did not want to tip over.  Mike told me that he had been swimming in Patterson Lake last weekend.  When we got to Patterson Lake, I told Mike that he should not go too far from shore, until he got used to the kayak canoe.

The very first thing that Mike did when he got in the kayak canoe, was start paddling directly across Patterson Lake.  I didn’t like this, I was worried about this, so I followed several hundred feet behind him, in case something happened.  He did O.K.

When we both arrived on the other side of Patterson Lake, near the south side boat ramp, I heard a very large splash behind me.  I couldn’t believe it, Mike had tipped his kayak canoe over.  At first, I thought that he must have been kidding around, but he wasn’t.

I asked him what had happened, and he said that his hat had blown off, and he tried to grab his hat.  I waited to make sure that he could get back in his kayak canoe.  He wasn’t swimming very well, the water was cold, and I think that he was in shock.

Mike grabbed the rear tip of the kayak canoe, and he pulled himself up onto the rear of the kayak canoe, which was good, this was a good way to get back in.  But when he got to the cockpit, he tipped over again.  This caused more water to go inside of the kayak canoe.

Mike was getting tired, and he was in shock.  He very erratically tried to enter the kayak canoe from the side, which only caused more water to enter the kayak canoe, and for him to become more tired.

I was upset, angry, and frightened, I believed that he only had enough strength for one more attempt.  I told him to wait, I paddled up beside his kayak canoe, and I held onto it very tightly.  I told him to get in while I held it.  I had to balance a lot of weight in different directions, while he was crawling in, like 50 lbs to 75 lbs, while I was sitting in a tippy kayak canoe myself.

When he sat down in the cockpit, he was way off balance, exhausted, and in shock.  I had to yell at him, again and again, Mike sit up!, Mike sit up!, and I was having to hold onto his kayak canoe very hard in order to keep him from tipping over.

I couldn’t believe it.  I was so angry.  I wanted to knock the shit out of Mike.  If this had happened out in the middle of Patterson Lake, he could have died.  He was so tired, so much in shock, so not thinking, that if he would have not made it back into the kayak canoe on the third attempt, he probably would have drowned by trying to swim to shore.

I also realized that Mike could have caused me to drown too.  If Mike would have tipped over my kayak canoe out in the middle of Patterson Lake, I probably could have dragged myself back into my kayak canoe once or twice, but with a drowning person trying desperately to get into my kayak canoe, I could have gotten tipped over again, and drowned by trying to swim to shore.

I was disgusted with Mike, and I am disgusted with Mike to this day.  What kind of idiot puts their life in danger by trying to grab for a $10 hat?  I now see Mike as an idiot and a fool.  Mike had not been doing well financially for the several years that I knew him, and I attributed this to him having bad luck, and bad circumstances.  Now, I just think of Mike as an idiot.

The point that I want to make is this, I had asked Mike if he could swim, and he said that he had been swimming a mile in the pool a couple of times each week.  I warned Mike about the cold water, and he said that last week he had been swimming in Patterson Lake.  I warned Mike to just stay near shore until he got used to the kayak canoe, but Mike headed straight across the 1/2 mile wide section of the Lake.  Mike tipped over by doing something really stupid, he was unable to get back into the kayak canoe by himself, he was in shock, he became disoriented, and he became exhausted.  Not only did Mike nearly drown, he could have caused me to drown too, by trying to help him, when he was in shock and irrational.

There was a drowning on Patterson Lake in April of 2014, when a man and his two children were in a canoe that tipped over.  The water was very cold, a boater picked up the two young children, but the father did not make it.

There was a drowning on a lake up near Williston in 2015 or 2016.  The man’s body was found first, and a short time later his kayak canoe was found.

What is happening, and what happened to me, is that people go to Menards, WalMart, Runnings, or Tractor Supply and they buy these inexpensive kayak canoes on a whim or the spur of the moment, just for something to do.  It is very easy for people to put one of these kayak canoes in the back of their truck and head to a lake and launch it.  The very first thing they do is start paddling across the middle of the lake, and they have no understanding of how cold the water is, that they will be in shock if they tip over, and that it will be very difficult or nearly impossible for them to get back in their kayak canoe if they are weak, out of shape, or inexperienced.

After what happened to me, I spent several hours watching videos of people tipping over in kayak canoes, and the difficulty that most people had in getting back into their kayak canoes.  Many people were only good for two or three tries, and after that, they were just too weak.

Please, please watch this video, because it shows how cold, weak, and disoriented this kayaker becomes after only two minutes in the water.

In this video, this kayaker is about the same age as my friend Mike.  Notice that in two instances this kayaker is able to get back into the cockpit and sit, but he immediately tips over because he is leaning so far to the right.  This is exactly what my friend Mike kept doing, and I had to hold onto the kayak canoe very hard, yelling at him again and again to sit up.

This kayaker was unable to get back into his kayak, and he had to call to the person standing on the dock to come get him.  Note that if this kayaker had been thinking rationally, he could have lain on the kayak on his belly, and just paddled like he was laying on a surfboard.

Here is a video of me and a different friend, who is an experienced kayaker.

How Much Money Do Engineers Make?

How much money do engineers make?  The answer is, not very much, and I will explain the reasons why, and give some examples.

One of the main reasons why engineers in the United States do not make very much money, is because the supply of engineers is much, much greater than the demand for engineers.

Before I continue, readers might be asking the question, where am I getting my information?  From myself, I am a 48 year old engineer, from my friends who are engineers, from my former co-workers who were engineers, from my relatives who are engineers, and from reading first hand accounts from other engineers.

One of the reasons why there is an over supply of engineers, is because newspapers, colleges, and universities keep saying that the United States needs more engineers.  That is true, the United States needs more engineers, people who truly understand the infrastructure and systems, however, there are so many engineers now, that most any engineer is easily replaceable, because there are hundreds of engineers that would be willing and able to fill any vacancy.

As long as universities are graduating tens of thousands of engineers every year, young graduates who are willing to take a job for $38,000 per year, take work home with them at night and on weekends, perform the work of two or three people, why would a business or corporation need to keep very many engineers around who are in their 40s, who do less work and are paid $50,000 per year?

Another reason why engineers are not paid very much money, is because they are not business majors or marketing majors.  Unfortunately, what engineers see in college, that business majors and marketing majors do not have to work nearly as hard as engineers to pass their curriculum, this same thing continues in the real world.  Business majors and marketing majors are paid more money by businesses and corporations than engineers, and they do less work than engineers.

Engineers have themselves to blame for this.  Engineers are so eager to get a job and be an engineer, that they accept a very low starting salary, considering the great cost, time, and effort that they put into their education.  They don’t market themselves well, represent themselves well, or manage themselves well.  This is also why they foolishly accept the work of two to three people being dumped on them, and take this work home with them at night and on weekends to complete it.

Let me give two real life examples of young engineers being overworked, for low pay.

I went to the University of Florida.  My cousin was several years behind me in school at UF, she was majoring in something related to engineering.  Her fiancee was in a different engineering department than me, and he was getting his masters degree in a field of engineering.  When they both graduated, they got married, and they both had jobs lined up in Dallas, Texas.

My cousin’s husband, would work from about 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, about eleven hours per day.  Keep in mind that in Dallas, the commute in traffic is about 45 minutes to and from work.  Also keep in mind, that he was on a fixed salary of maybe $45,000 per year because he had a masters degree and was somewhat of an expert.  However, when he got home, the corporation would call him to come back to work to handle problems that came up, after he had already worked an 11 hour day, and had driven 1.5 hours commuting.  This happened on weekends too.

After one year of marriage, my cousin wanted, and got a divorce.  She said that all her husband wanted to do when he got home from work, was just sit down in a recliner and not go anywhere or do anything.  Keep in mind, that he probably had to get up to get ready for work at about 5:00 a.m., and he didn’t get home from work until about 7:00 p.m.  And sometimes he would get called back to work.  One of the other things that was a source of problems in their marriage, was their inability to afford a house in the Dallas area on their income, even though they both had masters degrees.

The second example that I will give about young engineers being overworked for low pay is about a couple that I met in Arizona who were both graduating with degrees in mechanical engineering.  The husband and wife were very intelligent, personable, and outgoing.  The wife was also very attractive and athletic.

They didn’t have any trouble getting jobs lined up in Phoenix before they graduated.  Because they were so personable and outgoing, they probably got hired at the high side of starting pay, maybe $40,000 to $45,000 per year salary.

Within one year, their whole outlook on life, work, and being an engineer changed.  They each left home for work before the sun came up, and they each returned home from work after the sun had gone down.  With the commute to work, they were putting in 12 hour work days.

To try to have some normalcy and health in her life, the wife would try to go jogging after work, but it was both dark, and in a not very nice neighborhood.  There were a couple of incidents that happened when the wife was jogging, because she was young and attractive.  As young engineers, they did not make enough money to afford to live in a nice neighborhood in Phoenix.

After about 1-1/2 years, they left Phoenix, not caring about what they did for a living, but determined that they were not going to live like that.

I just gave two examples of what is was like working as a young engineer, being underpaid and overworked.  It was like this for me too, though in addition to this, I was sometimes treated like shit, by older engineers who wanted to run young engineers off, and by business owners who were resentful of people with an engineering education.

As a comparison, I want to give some examples of what other people are paid.  Myself, and two of the other people that I gave as examples of young engineers up above, we each graduated first in our high school class.  We each had to complete at least five years of college, and pass tremendously difficult classes like calculus, mechanics-statics which is twice as hard as calculus, and thermodynamics which is twice as hard as mechanics-statics.

In high school, there were girls that were in slow-learning classes, not even regular classes, but slow-learning classes.  Some of these girls that barely graduated from high school, could go work in a strip bar and make $40,000 to $50,000 per year, or take a six months dental hygienist program and make $40,000 to $50,000 per year.  The dumbest big tittied girls in high school could make more money than engineering graduates that went to college for five years.  This is how engineers are treated in the Unites States.

I will give two examples of older engineers that I know, who went bankrupt.

One of the most brilliant engineers who I ever met, he invented a very important device that is used around the world.  His name is included in books from different countries that credit him with inventing this device.

He was a very young mechanical engineer working in a machine shop type business.  He  was aware that there was gap in products that didn’t work on some applications.  So, he came up with a device which was very revolutionary, and very practical.  The machine shop began producing this new product, and they sold every one that they made.  He was persuaded by the machine shop owner, that he did not need to get a patent, so he didn’t.  Later, the machine shop owner applied for and got the patent on this device.

This young engineer was bitter, but he did not let this get him down at the time, or try to litigate the patent on this device, because he was sure that he would go on to invent many other things.  As he went to work for different companies, he was a very intelligent and insightful engineer, but he did not go very far, because he was not good at marketing, managing himself, or promoting himself.  It didn’t matter if he had great ideas or better ways of doing things, if he could not persuade or manipulate their implementation.

As he got older, each new company that he went to work for, was a greater frustration for him, as the managers and co-workers were all so stupid.  I know what he went through, as I went through this myself.  Working on plans, calculations, and estimates all day long based on information supplied by a stupid person, only to be told near the end of the day that the initial information was incorrect.  Remember, engineers are paid on salary, not by the hour, starting over at the end of the day means working late that night and not getting paid for it.

In order to not have to work for other people, he tried to start his own business, manufacturing and selling his own products.  He was so desperate to not have to work for other people, that he lept into business without having a good product, or having done much research or a feasibility analysis.  He went bankrupt, and he declared bankruptcy when he was about 40 years old.  One of the jobs that he had for a while after this, was installing satellite TV for Dish Network at people’s homes, which you might make $20,000 to $25,000 per year doing this.

The second engineer that I will describe who went bankrupt, he was about 50 years old.  Like me, and like the other engineer that I described above who went bankrupt, this 50 year old engineer had worked for different engineering companies and businesses.

He wanted to go out on his own, because he was tired of what engineers go through, being on a fixed salary, having to work 50 to 60 hours per week, having to do the work of two people, and not getting paid for it.  By the way, whenever an engineer gets down to only having to work 40 hours per week, they fire him so that they can continue to make the other engineers do the work of two to three people.

This 50 year old engineer, he began a specialty construction installation company that performed work that he had overseen in the past.  He was familiar with this industry, this process, and this type of work.  Working at this company, were several engineers including myself, and several technicians who had experience in this work.

I won’t go into all of the details, but the main reason why this company failed, was because all of the work was underbid.  A large corporation asked him to bid on a work package, that would take a couple of years to complete.  The large corporation gave him some “typical” work projects to complete, in order to determine what his costs were, and provide an estimate for the entire work package.

Towards the end of the first year, it became apparent that the work projects that were being completed, were not like the “typical” work projects that were used to determine his costs.  By the beginning of the second year, it turned out to be the case that every work project had several different underlying problems and complexities that made them much more time consuming and costly to complete.

The company owner had been tricked, duped, and deceived.  A business type person would have had experience in handling this type of situation, and would have had a whole repertoire of fits, hysterics, tantrums, and threats to make sure that additional compensation would be provided for the additional work, before continuing.

This 50 year old engineer had not ever made much money.  He made enough to support his wife and his son, and drive an old high mileage car, but not much else.  When he was in his late forties, his mother and father both died, and he inherited the family farm, which he moved on to.  It had an old wood house, not very nice, and several hundred acres of land.

He got a loan on his family farm, which he used to buy equipment for the company that he started when he was about 50 years old.  When his company was not making money on work projects because the projects had been underbid, based on a misrepresentation of a “typical” work project, instead of calling a halt to the work, pitching a fit, and renegotiating, he took out another loan on his family farm, on whatever equity was left.

His company closed after about the second year in business.  He was now about 52 years old, unemployed, and he had nothing.  His family home was completely mortgaged.

I will conclude this explanation of why engineers do not make very much money, by saying that they get themselves into positions where they do not make very much money.  When they are offered a low starting fixed salary, and are then tasked with working 50 to 60 hours per week, and doing the work of two people, they don’t protest, they don’t stand up and say that they are not going to do it, they go ahead and do it.

When engineers on fixed salaries are forced to stay late, or come back to work in the evening or on weekends, they should insist that they need to be paid for this.  Engineers also need to find a way to ensure that engineers in their late 30s, 40s, and 50s are not always getting obsoleted and replaced by engineers who are just starting out who will work longer hours for less money.

The Unions have made sure that workers in manufacturing, construction, operators, welders, pipe fitters, plumbers, electricians, machinists, iron workers, and laborers, get a guaranteed hourly wage rate, guaranteed overtime, benefits, and retirement.  Engineers are way, way behind in pay, benefits, job security, and retirement, because apparently they have poor negotiating, arguing, marketing, and business skills.

Worrying About The Grass Growing

Yesterday, I visited with a friend of mine at his home outside of Dickinson.  He is about 60 years old.  His income is currently low, and I pay him rent to park a truck and a utility trailer on his property.  Not too long ago, I had paid rent to park this truck and utility trailer on a commercial property in downtown Dickinson closer to where I live, but the crime in downtown Dickinson is so bad and my truck got stolen.

I have visited this friend outside of Dickinson a couple of times in the past ten days.  Every time that I visit him, he is worried about his grass growing, mowing the lawn, it raining, and having to mow the lawn again.  He worries and complains before, during, and after he mows the lawn.  He worries about the grass, throughout the day, every day.

As far as this particular friend’s problems go, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most urgent and serious, the grass growing in his yard is less than a 1.  He has got all kinds of serious urgent problems, several of them being level 9 problems, but he worries about the grass, and not his level 9 problems.  This choice of focus and concern, is probably why he has several level 9 problems to begin with.

Today he called me to ask me to move my truck, because he said he wants to mow the grass.  This infuriated me, because where I had initially parked this truck, was somewhere he did not need to mow.  At that time, he came outside and asked me to move my truck ahead to a different spot, which now is some place that he does not want it to be.

I am so fucking tired of hearing people worry about their fucking grass growing.  Now, because I have to move my truck, and possibly hook up and move my utility trailer too, this grass problem is going to be my problem too, unless I move my shit back downtown where it will inevitably get stolen.

A couple of times this week, I talked to another friend of mine who is about 68 years old, and he is worried and concerned about his grass too.  He has a place in Arizona, a place in Wyoming, and a place in Dickinson.  He is scared to go anywhere, and he can’t leave one of his homes for very long, because there is a lawyer next door who writes him threatening letters about his grass getting too long.

Not only is this other friend worried, and concerned about his grass virtually every day, there is a lawyer who lives next door to him who is worried and concerned about his grass too, who threatens legal action if the grass gets too long.

What is it about grass?  When people get old, they start to worry all day long, day and night, every day, about the grass growing, leaves falling from a tree into the yard, leaves laying in a roof gutter, to the extent you would think that the grass and leaves were going to come alive and ass rape them or something, they are so fearful.

Things that you are forced to worry about in life, are the death, serious injury, or serious illness of yourself or a family member;  urgent financial problems such as the loss of employment which can lead to the loss of a home, apartment, vehicle and inability to pay for basic necessities;  serious legal or financial problems which can lead to incarceration.

What mental problems do you have going on in your mind, where you begin to worry about grass and leaves, like they were matters of life or death, instead of things that don’t fucking matter at all?

Luke Simons’ Daughter Almost Got Killed By A Mountain Lion

I was looking at my Facebook home page this morning, Saturday May 19, and I saw a post from a local Dickinson person named Luke Simons.  Luke has five children, and one of them was nearly killed by a mountain lion this week.

Luke’s son Warren who is about 16 years old, and his daughter Shyann who is about 13 years old, were repairing a barbed wire fence in the badlands west of Dickinson.  The two of them split up to work separately.  Shyann walked up a hillside to a clump of trees, and there were two large mountain lions ten feet from where she stood.

One of the mountain lions jumped the fence and ran away.  The other mountain lion crouched down like a cat stalking a prey, getting ready to pounce, and it crept closer and closer to leap on Shyann, kill her, and eat her.  Why it didn’t, no one knows, it was going to.  Here is the video of Luke and his daughter, explaining what happened.

Losing The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Is A Big Deal For Dickinson, North Dakota

On Tuesday of this week, I read a Dickinson Press newspaper article that described North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum’s surprise announcement, that not only will the Theodore Roosevelt Museum not be built in Dickinson, but the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is not going to be built in Dickinson either.

This was a shocking and appalling betrayal of Dickinson, because it was the people in Dickinson that began the proposal, planning, organization, and fundraising for the Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum in the first place.  People in Dickinson have been spending a great deal of time, energy, and money on the planning, organization, design, fundraising, marketing, and publicity for the past four years.

The original planners of the Theodore Roosevelt Library, envisioned that the facility would be adjacent to Dickinson State University, on land that was already owned by either the City of Dickinson, or DSU.  A site was chosen on the former DSU rodeo grounds, right in the middle of downtown Dickinson.

I have been reading about the proposed Theodore Roosevelt Library in Dickinson for a little over one year.  I have a lot of complaints about Dickinson, which I continually write about in this blog.  I didn’t ever write about the planning of the Theodore Roosevelt Library in Dickinson until this week, because I didn’t care one way or the other.  I wondered why they wanted to have this in Dickinson, but I didn’t think that it would do any harm either by having it here.

I was aware that people in Dickinson had put a lot of work into this, and I was shocked that this got snatched away so easily by a coup or mutiny in the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation, aided and abetted by Governor Doug Burgum.

I complain and complain about Dickinson, but this Theodore Roosevelt Library would have helped Dickinson greatly.  Dickinson State University would have benefited enormously from the good publicity and positive feeling about the Library, which would have resulted in higher enrollment, increased endowment, more activities on campus, more visitors on campus, and more respectability for DSU.

The Library would have resulted in more employment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate DSU students related to their academic field here at the Library in Dickinson.  The Library would have attracted scholars and historians from elsewhere in the United States and around the World to travel to and stay in Dickinson.

Dickinson would have benefited from higher student enrollment, visiting scholars, employment for students, employment for Library staff and administrators, increased tourism, and increased endowment and importance of Dickinson State University.

This taking away of the Theodore Roosevelt Library will hurt Dickinson, but I don’t think that the hijackers know or realize what they have done.  In my previous blog post, I explained that the town of Medora, the new proposed location for the Library and Museum, has a population of less than 200 people, and the town shuts down in the Winter.

There is no readily available land or suitable location for the Library and Museum in Medora, as the town is only 0.38 square miles, and is bordered by the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  It appears as though the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation has the expectation that the Federal Government, the National Park Service, will just automatically provide land in the National Park for the Library and Museum, and pay for it, as the cost projections are now being publicized in national newspapers as $150 million.

The appropriation of Federal Land inside the National Park, and Federal Funding, will require acts of Congress.  This process could now postpone the construction of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum for years and years.

Initial Reaction To Dickinson Being Dumped By Theodore Roosevelt Committee

For about one year, I have been reading in the Dickinson Press newspaper and elsewhere, about plans and proposals for building a Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum in Dickinson, North Dakota.

In Dickinson, a group of people with backgrounds in business, politics, academia, marketing, and fundraising, appeared to me to be the ones who came up with this idea for the Library and Museum in the first place.  In order to proceed in the best, most organized manner possible, this group of people who came up with this idea in the first place, created an exploratory committee, a board of directors for the foundation, and hired a marketing company to perform market research and handle public relations.

In an effort to be above board, hear different people’s opinions, and have a broader reach for support, donations, and fundraising, the original group of people in Dickinson sought to include people from elsewhere in the foundation and exploratory committee.  However, this approach backfired, as the members with no connection to Dickinson, in effect committed a coup, hijacking, or a mutiny.

This coup, this hijacking or mutiny, didn’t occur in just one step.  Unbeknownst to the original planners of the Library and Museum in Dickinson, there were some people of great influence in North Dakota, that became involved in the project through surrogates, who planned to never, never, ever allow a Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum to be constructed in Dickinson.

If the truth be known, the influential people behind the coup or hijacking, do not care about the success of the eventual location of the Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum, nor do they care if the Library and Museum never get built at all.  They were determined to not allow the Library and Museum to be built in Dickinson, in order to not take visitors away from Medora.

The first step of the coup, was to promote discussion and receive input on the best location for the Library and Museum.  Then, when it was established that there was some difference of opinion on the location, surrogates started to advocate the possibility of the whole thing being built in Medora.  There was a lot that went on, and many more things happened, but phase one of the coup achieved the result that the Museum would be built in Medora.  The coup or the hijacking was half way complete at this point, which was approximately January 2018.

Today, May 15, I read in the Dickinson Press newspaper that the Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum committee has suddenly dumped Dickinson as the location for the Library, after already taking the Museum location away from Dickinson, and moving it to Medora.

These were some of my initial thoughts, which were too narrow a view of what actually was occurring:

My reaction was, Fuck Them!

From now on, those fuckers can fly into the airport in Medora for their meetings, oh wait, there is no airport in Medora, the closest commercial airport is in Dickinson, one hour away, when the roads are clear.  In the winter with snow, it’s more like a two hour drive from Medora to the Dickinson airport.

Tell all of the committee people, all of the board members, all of the benefactors, everyone involved, to go conduct all of their business in Medora from now on.  If you force them to do this, they will realize and understand, what they apparently didn’t know, that Medora has a population of less than 200 people, and there is nothing in Medora!

There is a reason why Medora has a population of less than 200 people.  Medora is isolated, it is out in the middle of nowhere, there is nothing there, it is an hour drive on the interstate from Dickinson when the roads are clear, and it shuts down in the Winter!!!

Medora is about 1/2 mile long by 300 feet wide.  There is one gas station, that has two gas pumps.  There is no grocery store.  There is hardly anything in Medora.  Common things that a person might need while conducting a business meeting in Medora, such as a package of copy paper, a box of paper clips, a stapler, a printer ink cartridge, envelopes, you can’t buy in Medora, the closest place would be SBM or WalMart in Dickinson.

Staying in Medora to conduct business, anything that you forgot, ran out of, and now need, like socks, underwear, a pair of walking shorts, a winter jacket, foot powder, Q-tips, eye drops, over the counter medications, prescription medications, or non-restaurant food items, you will have to drive to Dickinson.

If your car breaks down in Medora, the closest repair facilities are in Dickinson.  If you need to rent a car, the closest car rental places are in Dickinson.  If you are sick or get hurt, the closest medical facilities are in Dickinson.

There are only about three small restaurants in Medora, one being a cafe, and the others are more like bar restaurants.  Only one restaurant in Medora stays open in the Winter.  Most of the motels in Medora close in the Winter.

Dickinson should just wash its hands of any involvement with the Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum.  No one in Dickinson should waste any more time, energy, money, or thought on it.  Just let the state of North Dakota and donors from elsewhere spend as much money as they want, and do whatever they want down in Medora.

I am sure that whatever they build will be very nice, and impressive.  But it will also be vacant, outside of a couple of months in the Summer when the Medora Musical is open.

What I didn’t think about, or completely understand right at the moment when I read the latest Dickinson Press newspaper article, was that the people behind the coup or hijacking to take the Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum away from Dickinson and move it to Medora, they don’t care about attendance numbers and success of the Library and Museum, they don’t care if it gets built at all, their goal was just to make sure that it did not get built in Dickinson.

The people in Dickinson who came up with the idea for the Library and Museum in the first place, they thought that this would increase the prestige and importance of Dickinson, which it would have.  They thought that this would have benefited the reputation and stature of Dickinson State University, which it would have.  That it would have increased the number of people visiting Dickinson, flying into the airport, renting cars, staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, and spending money all over town.

A Dickinson location would have allowed easy, safe, and convenient year round access to the Theodore Roosevelt Library and Museum.

How could it make any sense to locate the Library and Museum in Medora, which shuts down in the Winter, and has terrible accessibility in the Winter?

This Was Trudy’s Home, Why Hasn’t Trudy Killed Her Husband?

The beautiful 5br, 5ba home shown in the headline photograph, is 7,000 square feet, with 15 acres of landscaped property, and it has an appraised value of $1.2 million.  This house is located in a rural community, where all of the other houses are similar in size, amount of property, and $1 million price range.  This was Trudy’s previous home.  Here is another photo of the front:

Trudy's House 002.JPG

Trudy’s husband has worked in the oil industry for almost thirty years.  During his career, he and his family have had to move every few years, to where his employer needed him to be.  As he and his wife worked, and paid for their family home, they had more and more equity in their home.  Each time that they were required to move, and sell their house, with the increased amount of equity that they had built up, and the appreciated value of their home, they were able to move into a bigger, nicer, more expensive home, until they moved to Dickinson, North Dakota.

Trudy and her husband looked and looked for a home in the Dickinson area for a couple of years, after they moved here near the end of the oil boom.  Money was not an issue, it was that the home prices were very inflated, for what they were.  Even $500,000 houses in the Dickinson area, did not have very nice kitchens, cabinetry, bathrooms, flooring, layout, design, build quality, or landscaping.  Here is a photo of her previous home’s bathroom:

Trudy's House 003.JPG

Trudy and her husband were not looking to throw their money away.  They were not going to pay $400,000 to $500,000 for a home that was not very nice, where prices were over inflated and would likely come down, in an area where people were proving to be unfriendly.

Like I said already, Trudy and her husband have had to move for his work many times in the past thirty years.  Trudy has had to leave her friends, acquaintances, neighbors, and familiar communities many times to start over new some place else.  This also used to involve re-enrolling her two daughters in new schools and helping them to adjust and get re-oriented.

This last time, here in Dickinson, it has been nearly impossible for Trudy to make friends, though she has tried.  Like me, she has mostly experienced the local women sneering, scowling, and glaring at her with animosity and disapproval.

Most women, want and need to socialize with other women.  They want someone to talk to, someone to visit with, someone to talk about their family with, someone to listen to them, someone to do things with.  Trudy doesn’t have this in Dickinson.  Most women would go insane, or leave.  Some women would probably take out all of their anger, frustration, and unhappiness on their husband.  Begging, pleading, or threatening him to get them out of Dickinson.

I sometimes write about how I wish that I could go back to a normal life.  People from Dickinson don’t know what I am talking about, and people who live in other states don’t know what I am talking about.  If you can’t make a picture in your mind from everything that I have written about and tried to explain, I suppose that you would have to live elsewhere, then live here in Dickinson in order to understand, and I don’t mean one week, I mean at least a whole year.

Once I found out where Trudy used to live, I then knew that she fully and completely understands the difference between living in Dickinson and living elsewhere.  I complain more than Trudy does, but she has had to endure a much greater reversal of fortune, hardship, suffering, and deprivation than I have.  I don’t see how she has not killed her husband yet, for taking her away from what she had, and bringing her here.

Here is a photo of what Trudy’s laundry room looked like:

Trudy's House 004.JPG

Note:  I am sorry for the dull picture quality, which does not do justice to the pristine, sharp, and perfect condition of the interior and exterior of this house.  However, on the other hand, due to the poor picture quality, there is no way for anyone to be able to find out where this house is from any detail, in any of these photographs.  This house could be anywhere, in any state.

I do not think that I have given enough detail to identify Trudy.  Even if someone far away from Dickinson wanted to leave a comment, saying where this house is, I would not post this comment.  The only people who could correlate this house to Trudy, are people who already know a great deal about her, and I would not be giving them any information that they did not already know.

Dumb Driving By New People In Dickinson, North Dakota

For several years I have been meaning to write about how local people in Dickinson, North Dakota drive, which is irritating, but not as bad, or as dangerous as how some new people in Dickinson drive.

Sometimes, you can tell from how a person in Dickinson is driving, that they must have just got here from Denver, Phoenix, or Salt Lake City.  In these cities, there are long distances to cover, often on congested, multi-lane, high speed roads.  The people who live in cities like this, drive aggressively.

This aggressive driving involves doing everything fast, drive fast up to a stop sign, don’t stop completely, pull out into traffic immediately, follow just a few feet behind the car in front of you.  There is very little room for error, and mistakes made by you or another driver, can be catastrophic when you drive fast and aggressive like this everywhere you go.

There are several problems with driving like this in Dickinson, and I will give some examples.  One, in downtown Dickinson in the residential areas, there are often not any stop signs at intersections.  In the past, the downtown residential areas were not very busy, local people took their time and were not in a hurry, the speed limit is only 25 mph, and local people did not have a problem yielding to approaching drivers, as no one had the right-of-way.  I have seen new people in Dickinson speed through downtown residential areas, and assume that because they do not see any stop sign, they can continue to drive fast through intersections.  They don’t even realize that the cross street does not have a stop sign either, and they are driving so fast that they don’t even know that they just made a mistake, and need to be more careful next time at that intersection.

Two, on Villard Street downtown, there are several designated cross walks, where pedestrians have the right-of-way, and approaching vehicles are supposed to stop and yield to pedestrians entering the cross walk.  The speed limit on Villard Street in these areas is 25 mph, which is good, because sometimes pedestrians step out into the cross walk from behind parked cars, and drivers do not have very much time to react and stop.  I have seen some new people in Dickinson, driving faster than they should on Villard Street, not realizing that there are designated crosswalks, and they don’t even slow down when people are in the crosswalk trying to cross the street, while other drivers have come to a complete stop.

Three, there is a difference between a small town with 25,000 people, versus a large city with over a million people.  All of the streets in Dickinson, are residential streets, they are not limited access or controlled access high volume commuter routes.  The main thoroughfares in Dickinson, have many homes, churches, schools, and businesses that abut the streets.  You can expect people to back out into these streets, come to a stop, turn their steering wheel , and then proceed ahead with the flow of traffic.  This is not a hold up, or a hazard, this is just a normal everyday occurrence that you can expect on these 25mph to 35 mph residential streets in Dickinson.

However, I have seen people who have recently arrived in Dickinson, think that a 25 mph to 35 mph speed limit is obsolete, that they are going to drive on the residential streets like they are on a commuter route, and if anyone should attempt to pull out onto the street that they are on while they are driving 45 mph, they are going to get run over.  The answer to this, is that if you want to run into someone on a residential 25 mph street in Dickinson while driving 45 mph, you can, you will have many opportunities.  You have a 50% chance more or less, that you will be cited for the accident.  The Police are going to ask you, or figure out themselves, why you were not able to slow down in time, the speed limit is only 25 mph.

This past Sunday in Dickinson, I was stopped at the north exit of the Runnings parking lot, waiting to make a right turn onto 21st Street, to drive east toward the traffic lights at the Hwy 22 intersection one block to the east.  I was waiting on a blue Chevy Impala driving on 21st Street coming from the west, with its right turn signal on, as it slowed down to make a right turn into the Runnings parking lot.  I wanted to make sure that the Chevy Impala was actually going to turn before I proceeded out onto 21st Street.   I was also vaguely aware that there were other vehicles on 21st Street that were coming from the west, that were getting closer to this blue Chevy Impala as it was slowing down and making a right turn into the parking lot.

What I was kind of surprised to see, as I was just about able to make a right turn onto 21st Street as the Chevy Impala made its right turn into the parking lot, was that the black Audi behind it coming from the west, was going about 45 mph to 50 mph, and was not slowing down.  If I would have made my right turn onto 21st Street at that time, the black Audi would have either run into the back of my truck, or it could have swerved into the turn lane to avoid a collision with my truck, but possibly had a head on collision with a vehicle in the turn lane, because like I said, it was driving at about 45 mph to 50 mph.

This black Audi car had a license plate from Europe on its front bumper, like this was a cool car from the Autobahn in Germany.  I thought that they were an idiot, this is not the Autobahn with controlled access, this is a 25 mph to 35 mph street right where people are exiting the car wash, the nursing home, Runnings, and the gas station convenience store.

I really wanted to see what state they were from by looking at their rear license plate when they passed.  The rear license plate was covered by a thick tinted and hazed plastic cover.  These plastic covers are installed on cars driven by speeders to prevent highway cameras in places like Phoenix from being able to photograph the license plates and issue a speeding ticket through the mail.  However, these plastic covers also make it hard for people to read their license plate, and I could not even see the license plate at all.

This told me that this person has not been in Dickinson very long at all.  The Police in Dickinson are not going to tolerate a license plate that they can’t even read when they are directly behind their vehicle.  You can be stopped and issued a citation for this, and the Police in Dickinson want to look up every license plate in front of them.

Are The Police Becoming Overwhelmed In Dickinson, North Dakota?

Today, Saturday May 12, I was at the car wash in Dickinson, North Dakota when one of my neighbors from down the street pulled in to the wash bay next to me.  I said to him, that I lived at the apartment building down the street from him, and he acknowledged that he knew where I lived.  I said to him, that we were having drug problems and crime at the apartment building where I live, and I had heard that there were problems down where he lived too, was that true, what was going on down there?

My neighbor said yes, they were having all kinds of problems.  He has lived in the same house for the past seven years, and there never were very many problems until the past two years.  He said that it was like everything changed recently.  Because of the crime, he began trying to find someplace else to live, and soon he will be moving.

For instance he said, his neighbor next door moved out of the house which was a rental.  He knows for sure that no one is supposed to be there in this vacant rental house, because he called and checked with the landlord after he spotted squatters and vagrants getting into this house at night and being inside this house at night.  He telephoned the Dickinson Police the next time he saw that there were people trespassing inside this vacant rental house at night, and the Police told him that there was nothing they could do about it.

At the apartment building where I live, the drug dealer son of an apartment lessor is back in the apartment, and dealing drugs again, though he was kicked out about six months ago.  Stark County Sheriff Deputies were here at the apartment building recently to serve residents court papers, and I hoped that they were here with eviction notices for the drug dealers.  They weren’t, they were here for other residents.  I heard from someone else other than the Sheriffs Deputies, that one of these residents had threatened to shoot several different people.

About ten days ago, I tried to buy and get financing for a $25,000 manufactured home in Belfield on its own 75 ft x 140 ft lot, because I don’t want to live around the crime and drug dealing in downtown Dickinson.  My apartment neighbors on a different floor, where the Sheriff Deputies were serving court papers, they told me that they want to get out because they are scared that they are going to get shot.

I tried to reassure my neighbors that they were probably not going to get shot, and they said no we are serious, we really mean it, if you had heard what we have been hearing, you would realize that all kinds of things might happen.  My neighbors said that they are trying to get approved for financing to buy a house.  They have lived in this apartment building for a long time, and things have really gone down hill in the past couple of years they said.

After I wrote this blog post on Saturday night, and went to sleep, I was awoken at 2:00 a.m. by some woman screaming bloody murder.  I looked out the window to see if some woman was getting attacked in the street, raped, robbed, or what was going on.  I continued to hear a little bit of a disturbance, then another scream or yell, and some confused muttering.  It turned out to be the woman in the drug dealing apartment in my building, who from her nonsense muttering, appeared to be out of her mind on drugs, and was not being hurt by anyone.  This woman works in a fast food restaurant.

What I have noticed, and I have been writing about this on my blog website, is that most of the people that are arriving in Dickinson now, are not skilled trades people like experienced equipment operators, experienced welders, certified mechanics, plumbers, electricians, and oil field workers.  Experienced trades people know how to check for job openings in an area, for the specific work that they do, before they pack up and relocate somewhere.  They get a job before they relocate, and once they arrive in a new town for a new job, they go to work and don’t mess around getting into trouble.

In downtown Dickinson, and other places in Dickinson, I see new people arriving in town who don’t have jobs, and they begin getting into trouble right away.  I will give several examples.  About one month ago, two 20-23 year old boys moved into a subdivided rental house a couple of city blocks away from where I live, probably into the basement apartment.  I saw both of them in my neighbor’s back yard where he keeps his motorcycles, four wheelers, tools, and equipment.  I got my neighbor to come outside and check everything, and there were footprints in the snow going up to the back corner of his house, that he did not make.

Another example, the second day that the drug dealer had moved back into the apartment building where I live, a drug dealer supplier came driving up to the apartment in an inner city ghetto modified SUV, playing ghetto music, acting all proud and belligerent, like this is Oakland or something.  People who work for a living, don’t act like drug dealers, or come and deliver drugs during the middle of the day.

In the neighborhood where I live, there have been several reckless driving accidents, and there are always near miss accidents from people failing to stop for stop signs, or failing to realize that cross streets do not have stop signs.  All of the trades people in my neighborhood, whether they drive a new truck or an old truck, they always yield to cars on the cross streets, even when there are no stop signs, in order to prevent an accident.

If you work in the oil field, or for any skilled trade profession, it is very, very important that you do not have any vehicle accidents on your record, so that you can drive company vehicles, it’s part of your job.  All of the skilled working people in the neighborhood where I live, are very careful driving.  However, as an example, there was recently a new arrival in Dickinson, who I am told works at McDonalds, who was driving so fast on the 25 mph street, that he lost control of his vehicle, jumped the curb, crossed the grass strip, and took out about 100 ft of chain link fence.

The reckless driving vehicle accidents, the drug dealing, the theft, and the crime in Dickinson that has been on the rise in the past two years, is caused by the low-skilled no-skilled people who are arriving in Dickinson now.  There are so many people like this moving to Dickinson now, that it sometimes seems like the Police are not able to keep up with all of the trouble that they cause.

Important Note For Police And Everyone:  If you have a young male, let’s say age 17 years to age 27 years old, he does not have a job, and he does not work, and people, black people, white people, men, and women, need to come and see him in the morning, the afternoon, the evening, and late at night, for maybe five minutes, fifteen minutes, sometimes sitting in their cars on the street or in the parking lot waiting for him, what do you think is going on?  Is he just popular, and sought after for advice, this unemployed young man?

Here’s another hint, what if there are people who come to see him, who are later walking, standing, sitting inside the building or in the parking lot in a stupor?  I don’t know why it is so hard to spot a drug dealer.

Unless the Dickinson Police drug dog can read prescription medication labels for oxycontin, hydrocodone, codeine, fentynal, xanax, or adderall, determine who is being prescribed this medication, count pills, and ask where this medication is going, this might be a reason why the Police drug dog never detects illegal drugs in and around this apartment.  It might not be methamphetamine, crack cocaine, or heroin.

Because the mom, sons, and grandkid, all act like they have something wrong with them and are on medication, they may all have medical prescriptions for xanax or adderall.  A xanax prescription would explain why the son and the son’s visitors are seen walking, standing, or sitting in a zombie like stupor.

Financial Problems And Taxes Working In The Oil Field Of North Dakota

In 2016, this was about my fourth year of working in Dickinson, North Dakota.  The oil boom was over in North Dakota by the end of 2015, but I continued to stay in Dickinson because I could make more money here, than I could back at my home in Idaho.  I have always planned on, and looked forward to, moving back to my home in Idaho once I have made enough money.

Just like most years in North Dakota, I had very little work and very little income in January 2016, February 2016, and December 2016.  Even if you plan on working in the Winter in North Dakota, so many projects get shut down due to the cold, and frozen ground, that there is a ripple effect of a slow down or shut down through other occupations.

In 2016, I was lucky to get a work project at the end of February, and later in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, I had two jobs at the same time.  Though I had very little income in January, February, and December of 2016, I still made about $47,000 that year.  This was much, much more money than I could have made in Idaho.

In Idaho, even though I have a B.S. in mechanical engineering, I would be very, very lucky to find a job paying even $30,000 per year.  There are a few large manufacturers of agricultural equipment that might have a job advertisement for an engineer that pays a fixed salary of $45,000 per year, but you would be required to do the work of two to three people, taking work home with you every week night, and working Saturday and Sunday too, for an employer who would act like they didn’t know any better, but would actually be thinking that  “they were getting their money’s worth”.

One of the reasons why engineers in places like Idaho and North Dakota, get treated like shit, get hired on a fixed yearly salary, have to do the work of two to three people, and take work home with them, is because there are so few job openings, that if you want to work as an engineer that bad, this is what you get stuck doing.

So for me, I feel a lot better getting paid for every hour that I work, especially when I end up making more money than I would have working as an engineer.

But let me get back to what I wanted to talk about, the financial problems and taxes.  I had no problem with my employers withholding from my paychecks, federal income taxes, North Dakota state income taxes, medicare, and social security.  In fact, I only claimed one withholding allowance on my employee tax withholding forms, when I could have claimed two withholding allowances.

Because I had two different jobs at the same time, each employer withheld tax money from my paychecks at the correct percentage for the money that I was being paid by that employer.  However, because of my combined income from two jobs, and making $47,000 overall, I ended up being in a higher tax bracket, the 25% tax bracket instead of the 15% tax bracket.  With just one withholding allowance, most people would have received a federal income tax refund for overpaying, but not me, I owed more money in federal income taxes.

What pushed me into owing more federal income taxes, was the “Obamacare Tax Penalty” of $850.  Let me get this straight, I worked two jobs at the same time, I had one income tax withholding allowance, and now I owe additional money in federal income taxes, because I did not have health insurance, and you want me to pay for other people’s health insurance?

This keeps getting worse.  I didn’t have hardly any income in December 2016, January 2017, February 2017, March 2017, and April 2017.  I didn’t have the money to pay all of my taxes in April, and the CPA who has done my taxes for years, customarily files an extension for me because he is busy, so I didn’t pay on time.

When I did finally pay my income taxes before the end of my income tax filing extension deadline, I owed additional federal income taxes, $1,700 in Idaho State income taxes, and $450 Idaho State income tax penalty.

From my paychecks, the State of North Dakota was receiving all of the state income taxes that they were owed, which I believe was 2% of my gross pay on each paycheck.  However, I didn’t have any withholding from my paychecks for the State of Idaho, where I claim residency, and their state income tax rate is about 7% I believe.

Why, why would I pay state income tax to both North Dakota, and to Idaho?  Because I work in North Dakota, I don’t care that they withhold about 2% from the gross pay on each of my paychecks.  I would rather North Dakota just take the 2%, rather than argue with the state of North Dakota about my residency, which I would probably lose this argument with them anyway.

I wrote a whole blog post titled “Losing Your Home In A Lawsuit Judgement”, where I explain that it is very important legally, to make sure that your home is counted under the law as “Your Primary Residence”, and not an investment property.  Legal proof for me that my home in Idaho is my “Primary Residence”, and not an investment property,  would be such things as me having an Idaho driver’s license, not renting out my home, not owning a second home elsewhere that I claim as my primary residence, having most of my vehicles registered in Idaho, and especially, claiming myself to be a resident of Idaho on my federal income tax return, which unfortunately means paying something like 7% of my income in taxes to the State of Idaho.

Here is what the amount of my income that I paid in Year 2016 taxes looks like:

  • Federal income tax                  16% (bracket was 25%, but 16% was the effective rate)
  • Soc. Sec. & Medicare                7.6%
  • Obamacare Penalty                  1.8%
  • North Dakota income tax          2%
  • Idaho income tax                        7%
  • Idaho income tax penalty          1%
  • Idaho property tax                     1.7%
  • Sales tax                                         6%
  • Tax preparation                          0.75%

Total of my income paid in taxes     43.85%

I wrote this blog post today, because I am considering what to do.  What can I do?  If I sold my house back in Idaho, I would have to pay 6% to a real estate company, and then pay capital gains tax on the amount of gain over what I originally purchased this house for, at about a 25% tax rate on the gain.  Or if I put all of the sale money into a house in Dickinson, I wouldn’t owe any capital gains taxes, but I would be putting this money into a depreciating property, as prices in Dickinson are still inflated.

I don’t want to sell my house in Idaho, I had planned on going home one day.  What would I do with all of my personal property, furniture, trailers, equipment, and vehicles?  I would be eaten alive in storage rental fees, if I didn’t have my own property.  Even if I could fit all of my furniture, personal belongings, tools, equipment, and maybe one vehicle into a storage unit for $250 per month, this equals $3,000 per year, this is the exact amount of money that I am trying not to pay to the state of Idaho in the first place.  Selling my home to avoid paying about $3,000 per year to the state of Idaho in income taxes and property taxes, would result in me paying $3,000 per year in rent for a storage unit.

How or why would I drag all of my property to Dickinson, and buy a home here?  There is a tremendous shortage of women, the local people are very unfriendly, the town is being transformed by all of the drug people and criminals that are currently moving here, and the economy may continue to decline in Dickinson.

If You Want To See Attractive Women In Dickinson, North Dakota

If you want to see attractive women in Dickinson, North Dakota, you’re not going to, unless you can find some on YouTube.

This video of Piper Blush was so funny, that I had to show it.  Please watch this video past the first several minutes, you will see that it is worth it.  Piper talks funny, partly because she is French-Canadian, and partly because she is being funny.  She is not stupid at all, but in order to be likable, she doesn’t want to act like a know-it-all.

Lies About Dickinson, Lies About Real Estate, And Banks Betting Against Dickinson

About one week ago, I wrote a blog post about all of the crime and drug dealing at the apartment building where I live in downtown Dickinson almost causing me to move.  I don’t want to live here, I would like to get out, but I don’t think that I could escape the drug problem by moving to a more expensive apartment building in Dickinson, the occupancy rates are so low at the new apartment buildings, that they will rent to anyone.

This past week, I began looking at the real estate multiple listings for properties in this area, and I found one that was very low priced in Belfield, North Dakota, which is 24 miles west of Dickinson.

This property, which I will give the details of below, was perfectly fine with me, though many people would not find it appealing.  You have to keep in mind, that my first year in Dickinson back in 2011 during the oil boom, I slept in a 1978 truck bed camper, and I took showers at the company where I worked, or at the Tiger Truck stop.  My second year back in Dickinson in 2013, I slept in an enclosed utility trailer that was 7 ft x 14 ft, with no water and no sewer connections.  In 2011 and 2013, I was very cold when the temperature was below 0 degrees Fahrenheit outside, while trying to live in a camper with one electric heater.

The property that I saw in the Dickinson real estate multiple listing guide last week that interested me, was a 3 br, 1 ba, 1,000 square foot manufactured home on a 75 ft x 140 ft owned lot, for $25,000.  According to the website Realtor.com, for a 30 year mortgage at 6% apr, the combined monthly payment for the mortgage, property tax, and insurance would be $106 per month, total.

Because I can’t park my equipment trailers and some of my vehicles at the apartment where I live now, my combined storage and rent payment is $500 per month.  Which is better, $500 per month to live in an apartment building with drug dealers and crime, or $106 per month to live in your own home, on your own land?

$25,000 is pretty cheap for a 3 br, 1 ba home on its own lot, for this area, or for any area.  From 2009 to 2015 during the oil boom, the rent for this manufactured home would have been $2,000 per month, which equals $24,000 per year.

I went and looked at this manufactured home, inside and out, on Friday of last week, and I took a video of it which I will show below.  I liked this manufactured home, it was fine with me, the yard, the outside, and the inside.  On the good side, it is fully furnished, and all of the furniture, washer and dryer come with it.  On the bad side, the roofing shingles on the south side are cupped, and will have to be replaced.  A new roof will cost about $5,000.

The real estate agent was pleasant and professional.  He told me that the property had been purchased by a company that needed to provide a place for three workers to live, but now that this company no longer does business in North Dakota, they just want to sell this property.  Other prospective buyers had offered to make a large cash down payment, and make monthly payments to the property owner, but all of these offers were declined.  The company wants to receive complete payment at one time, and be done.

A little over a year ago, I received a mortgage application package to complete from Dakota Community Bank where I have an account.  When I spoke to the loan officer again at Dakota Community Bank on this past Friday, she said that Dakota Community Bank will no longer lend money on any manufactured home whatsoever, no matter how new it is, or how much owned land is involved.  Later I had a short discussion about a personal loan using my vehicles as collateral, but most of these vehicles are not in North Dakota, and their value would be assessed at wholesale trade-in value, which is nothing.

I talked to someone at ENG Lending in Dickinson, and their policy is that they will loan money on a new manufactured home at the dealer, but not on a used manufactured home.  I spoke to a loan officer at Gate City Bank in Dickinson, and they said that they looked up this property, and would not loan money on this property because the area that it was in was zoned commercial.  I suspect that Gate City Bank was just looking for a reason to excuse themselves from lending on an older manufactured home.

I was told that I would have a high likelihood of getting a loan from the bank in Belfield where the home is located, Choice Financial.  I went to Choice Financial Bank on Friday last week, discussed this with loan officers, but they have not called me back.  I don’t think that they can do anything with an older manufactured home either.

In a way, this whole process was funny and unbelievable to me.  All throughout Dickinson, all of the business owners, real estate agents, property managers, property investors, business people, financial people, and bankers, like to talk and make announcements about how the economy in Dickinson is booming, growing, expanding, and taking off.   Yet all of the bank owners have so little faith in the economy in Dickinson, that they have issued instructions that no loans are to be made on manufactured homes even if they are on owned land.

The other thing that is kind of funny and absurd to me, is that this property is not 3 times my annual income, not 2 times my annual income, but ½ of my annual income.  In many parts of the U.S., people are getting home loans, where the cost of the home is 3 to 4 times the person’s annual income.  Yet in Dickinson, I can’t get a loan to buy a home on owned land, that is ½ of my annual income.  Or, I could probably be approved to buy a new car in Dickinson for $35,000, a car, whereas I can not get a loan for a lesser amount, for a 3 br, 1 ba home, where I would live, for less money than I have been paying for rent the past four years.

I could put the whole $25,000 purchase on my credit cards, I receive credit card checks that I can use just like a regular check with no discount to the recipient.  But my interest rate would be 18%, which is about $4,500 per year in interest alone.  Why would I want to pay about $375 per month, just in interest?

I discussed with the real estate agent, making a cash offer for $18,000.  The real estate agent said that this proposal had already been made to the property owner, he refused, he will accept nothing less than $25,000.

The real estate agent, each of the bank loan officers, the other bank personnel, and the Stark County personnel that I spoke to in the past several days, were all pleasant, polite, and professional.  I like this manufactured home, it is fine with me, I can afford it, I don’t mind paying the asking price, and I don’t mind living in Belfield.  I just could not get financing.

There were many other people who also wanted to buy this manufactured home, on its own 75 ft x 140 ft lot.  The loan payments on this property, would be lower than just about anything you could rent in this area, even lower than the rent on an old studio apartment.  However, no one could get a loan, the owner would not accept a large down payment and finance it, nor would the owner accept cash payment for a lesser amount.

I got a lot of insight from this.  No matter what the talk is on the street, in the newspapers, and on television about how well the economy in Dickinson is doing, the people with money, the people who know what is really going on, are not about to loan money on manufactured homes, even manufactured homes on owned land, for at least three reasons.

One, they expect the economy in Dickinson to decline, people to continue to lose their jobs, and they expect people to default on their home loans.  Two, with the economy in Dickinson declining, and people defaulting on their home loans, who are they going to get to buy a foreclosed manufactured home, or who are they going to get to rent a foreclosed manufactured home?  Three, with the economy in Dickinson declining, wealthy people and bank owners do not want to be stuck owning multiple manufactured home properties that people have defaulted on, these things will be worth pennies on the dollar there are going to be so many vacancies in Dickinson.

Think about this, on the other hand, if the bank owners and the people with money in Dickinson, truly believed that the economy in Dickinson was expanding, they would not hesitate to make loans on manufactured homes on owned land, for at least three reasons.

One, with more job openings expected in Dickinson, people would not be losing their jobs and defaulting on their home loans.  Two, so what if someone defaulted on their home loan while the economy was growing, it would be easy to find someone else to buy or rent a foreclosed manufactured home.  Three, so what if someone defaulted on their manufactured home loan when the economy was expanding, the value of manufactured homes on owned property would be going up and up, who wouldn’t want to own assets that are appreciating in value?

At this point, I don’t care, I am done trying to work this purchase out.  I will just sit back and watch this manufactured home not sell, and continue to decline in value.  I don’t care if someone else finds a way to purchase this home, to live in, or to own this home as an investment and rent it out.  I have nothing against this home, I like it, but it will need a new roof soon.  Here is the video, if you want to make an offer on this home, just look on any real estate site for Belfield, North Dakota.

Very Entertaining YouTube Videos Of Piper Blush

I have lived in Dickinson, North Dakota for a little over five years now.  There is a shortage of women, and a scarcity of attractive women.  There are very few places to go, and very few things to do, so I mostly stay inside and look at things on the internet, especially YouTube videos.

When I click on the YouTube website, the YouTube site displays about forty different YouTube channels and videos that I might be interested in.  Most of these channels and videos are about Bigfoot, automobiles, exploring abandoned places, metal detecting, travelling, off-roading, and some social media personalities.

The social media personalities that I have been watching recently are VeeTwoEye, Stephi Lee, Victoria X Rave, and Poppy.  Yesterday, YouTube displayed a video from a young lady named Piper Blush.

Piper Blush’s video was kind of strange, but in a good way, as far as most men are concerned.  Piper is French, she has a very high pitch voice, she has a strange, almost idiotic manner of speaking, which makes her seem air headed.  Unfortunately, many man are turned on by large breasted, unaware, seemingly dumb girls.  I suppose this makes men feel like they would be able to seduce a girl like this.  It’s like hungry wolves spotting a defenseless sheep.

Piper is not stupid, she probably understands men, better than they understand themselves.  Piper has over 400,000 YouTube subscribers, and I am sure that most men watch her videos to the end.  The number of views that her videos get, the amount of time spent watching each of her videos, and the number of subscribers that she has, may result in YouTube paying her anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000 per month, probably more toward the high side of this range.  ( After writing this, I read that her monthly YouTube payments may be as high as $27,000 per month.  Her YouTube videos have over 79 million views.)

I said that Piper Blush is French, but she is French-Canadian.  Part of the way that she speaks, is a slight parody or embellishment of how people in Quebec speak, where she lives.

Piper’s videos are about ordinary, everyday things, and people watch her videos primarily because Piper is attractive, happy, and funny.  Here is one of her videos:

I watched a second YouTube video of Piper, where she was washing off and asphalt driveway with a garden hose.  At the end of this video, she said that she was going to spray her tight, white T-shirt, but then she said “kidding”, and walked off.  This made me mad, because I wanted to see.  Like most men, I would like to see Piper naked.

For better or worse, I got my wish.  One of the commentors to her video, wrote that she has pornography videos on the website Pornhub.  I went and looked, and yes, she does.  I watched two of her pornography videos, and I felt bad for her, because you could say that “her partner was not up for it”.

Sometimes, when women shock you, it is unpleasant at first, because this could be something that you didn’t want from them or didn’t expect from them.  After feeling and thinking different things, I believe that most men conclude that everyone is better off, if people are able to show, and others are able to learn, what each other is like.

In Dickinson, North Dakota where I live, I believe that most people have to hide the way that they are.  There would be too many repercussions from friends, relatives, neighbors, and employers for people behaving too differently, such as attractive women getting too much attention for being friendly, dressing provocatively, or being too available for dating.  This is why there are no women like Piper Blush in Dickinson, they all move away.

Drug Dealing And Crime At My Apartment Building In Downtown Dickinson Almost Causing Me To Move

About one year ago, I moved into an older apartment building in downtown Dickinson, North Dakota.  For 3-1/2 years prior to this, while I was working in Dickinson, I paid rent to a homeowner on the north side of Dickinson to stay in his 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home.  For the past eight years, I have owned a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in Idaho, where I have spent very little time due to working in North Dakota, Utah, and Texas.

The 3br/2ba home on the north side of Dickinson where I lived for 3-1/2 years, was very similar to living in my 3br/2ba home in Idaho.  All of the neighbors in the rural area on the north side of Dickinson believed, and behaved the same way.

All of the neighbors in the rural area on the north side of Dickinson had extra trucks, trailers, equipment, motorcycles, four wheelers, boats, and garages where they worked on all of the things that they owned.  They took care of their property, were quiet, didn’t play loud music, didn’t drive recklessly or carelessly, and stayed on their own property.

All of the neighbors in the rural area quickly spotted any vehicle that was unfamiliar to them, and watched the vehicle to see where it was going and what they were going to do.  Most of the neighbors had a couple of outdoor dogs, that would start barking whenever someone unfamiliar was anywhere near their yard or the neighbor’s yard, which caused people to look outside or come outside to see what the dogs were barking at.

In the 3-1/2 years of living in the rural area on the north side of Dickinson, no one had any theft or trespassers.  We had a medium sized bird dog that was very alert, and every neighbor surrounding us had medium sized to large outdoor hunting dogs that guarded the houses.  One of the neighbors had huskies and malamutes that never came inside.

Due to the home owner where I was staying being older and having health problems, which caused among other things, him to come into the living room and turn on the television and make a lot of noise during the late night and early a.m. hours, which woke me up and prevented me from falling back to sleep, I wanted to go and live some place else.  The oil boom was over in North Dakota by the end of 2015, and rents all throughout Dickinson had decreased through 2016 and 2017.

I did not want to spend very much money for rent in Dickinson.  I was just here to work, to try to make as much money as possible, to try to save as much money as possible, to try to spend as little as possible, so that one day I could return to my home in Idaho, and resume a normal life.

Just as an aside, to answer the question, What do I mean by resuming a normal life?  For instance, in the area of Idaho where I had lived, there was an equal number of men and women.  Perhaps even a slightly higher number of women.  It was common for women in Idaho to want to make a good impression, to try to have a nice appearance, to be polite, and to try to be friendly and helpful.  Why?  Because they wanted to make friends, make acquaintances, have the chance for more opportunities, to advance professionally, to be asked out on dates, or to be invited to go places.

But let me get back to Dickinson.  In the Spring of 2017, I sought to find an inexpensive apartment in Dickinson.  The older apartment buildings downtown, had significantly lower rent than the newly constructed apartment buildings on the outer perimeter of Dickinson.  At one of the older apartment buildings downtown, which was probably at 50% occupancy, the apartment manager gave me a very good deal on a two bedroom apartment, because I had very good credit, two jobs, had already been working in Dickinson for four years, and I did not have any criminal record.

I liked the 2 bedroom apartment very much, it had a nice view, and it did not cost very much.  I was glad to have privacy, and quiet at night when I was sleeping, which I had not had while I was living with a homeowner on the north side of Dickinson.  I also liked the convenience of living downtown, it was a shorter drive to places like the grocery store.

Within a couple of months of moving into an apartment in downtown Dickinson, several bad things began happening at about the same time.  In order to not be a jerk, or start any problems with my apartment neighbors, I did not want to take any person’s parking space.  So I parked my vehicles on the street.  I had to look all over town, but I found a business owner who was willing to rent to me a spot to park one of my trucks, about four blocks away from where I lived downtown.

When I had traveled all over the United States for work, to Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Texas, and North Dakota, I kept a large locked trunk, chained and locked to the back seat frame, inside of my truck.  In this trunk, I kept my birth certificate, social security card, $500 emergency money, and a large 11″x17″ portfolio binder showing years and years of my engineering work.  After 15 years of travelling like this, working in places like Pueblo, Phoenix, Laredo, and Fort Worth, I thought that this locked and chained down trunk inside of my locked truck was safe enough in Dickinson.

I was wrong.  My entire truck was stolen in downtown Dickinson.  I handed out flyers all over southwest North Dakota, and after a week, different people telephoned me to tell me who had my stolen truck.  I was able to contact associates and relatives of the person who stole my truck, who was already wanted by the Police in Dickinson for his seventh and eighth felonies.  Due to pressure from friends, relatives, and the Police, my truck was left abandoned beside Hwy 85.

Missing from my stolen truck was about $1,500 to $2,000 in tools and equipment.  The electric trailer brake controller, radar detector, two spare truck tires, spare trailer tire, truck bed tool box, floor jack, air tank, tool sets, carrier rack, and the four good tires that were on it, had all been removed and sold.  The $500 cash went in his pocket, and my birth certificate, social security card, portfolio of work, business cards, owners manual with service history and receipts, all went in the garbage somewhere, probably.

At about the same time that my truck was stolen in downtown Dickinson, I was having problems at my apartment building in downtown Dickinson.  The source of many of these problems, were two apartments in my building where drugs were being used and sold.

Shortly after moving into this building, several residents and myself, witnessed the Police trying to escort a resident from one of the drug apartments to their Police car.  This young lady repeatedly tried to injure herself by intentionally banging her head against the brick walls, doors, Police car, and inside the Police car.  She was obviously out of her mind on drugs.

At all hours of the day and night, people would come and go from these two drug apartments in the downtown apartment building where I lived.  Or, sometimes people would stay and get high, then sit or wander in the apartment building common areas in a zombie like stupor.

After I had lived in this downtown apartment building for about six weeks, I telephoned the apartment building management, and I told them that they had a drug problem in this building.  People coming and going from two apartments throughout the day and night, people sitting in a stupor on balconies, walking the hallway stoned in the early a.m. hours.  The building management asked me to specify which two apartments.  When I was reluctant to do so, the building management asked if it was apartment xx and xx, and I said yes, exactly.  Since other residents of the building had already complained and had identified the two apartments, I gave some additional information.

It turned out, that the main drug dealing apartment was not even supposed to be occupied by the people who were living there.  A mother of an adult son, she had rented the apartment, then she went off to live someplace else, and she left her adult son in the apartment.  This adult son who did not have a job, he invited other people who did not have jobs, to come and stay with him at the apartment where he wasn’t even on the lease.  This group of unemployed people, none of them were on the apartment lease, bought and sold drugs all day, and used drugs all day.

The apartment building managers and the Police, made an attempt to clear the apartment building of all drug activity, which helped some, but there was a recurrence of problems.  This sector of downtown Dickinson, had more than several drug houses and drug apartments.  People would continue to come to this apartment building, or wander around this immediate area, seeking drugs.  People who were not in their right minds, would either come straight to this building or eventually wander over to this building, and they would try to hang out here, hoping or thinking that a drug dealer or someone with drugs would turn up any minute, because they had got drugs here in the past.

This led to things like me finding someone who was not a resident of the building, almost completely passed out and unable to move, laying in the stairwell of this building at 3:00 a.m.  Finding someone who was not a resident of the building, sitting in their car hiding behind the garages, acting out of their mind on drugs.  Finding someone who was not a resident of the building, shuffling around and acting crazy in the parking lot around the vehicles at 2:00 a.m.  And the combination of people who do not live here loitering or wandering through the property 24 hours per day, while at the same time residents find that someone has removed property from their car or tampered with their car.

In this past month, I found a couple of 20-23 year olds that didn’t belong in my neighbor’s backyard where he keeps his equipment, motorcycles, and four wheelers; a non-resident with a station wagon filled with garbage bags trying to fill up our one apartment building garbage container; a couple of drug impaired non-residents searching through our apartment building garbage container with flashlights for about 20 minutes, who were probably looking for bank statements and credit card bills.  And finally, the drug dealer, drug user adult son who does not have a job, is back at his mother’s apartment dealing drugs.

The apartment building management, and the Police, had tried to rid this apartment building of the drug dealing about eight months ago, by confronting the drug dealers, seeing if any drugs could be detected or found, and threatening the lease holders of the two suspected apartments with eviction.  Months and months later, people were still coming onto this apartment building property 24 hours per day hoping to find drugs, because they had gotten drugs here in the past.

Within one day of the drug dealer with no job being back on the apartment building property, I watched black guys from out of state with inner city ghetto vehicles driving right up to this apartment like it’s a drive through or convenience store for drugs.

(If you want to see what an out of state, inner city ghetto vehicle used by drug dealers looks like, go peak through the fence of the impound lot at East End Towing in Dickinson to see the Range Rover which has been lowered with custom wheels, California license plates, with the windows broken out of it, and beat all to hell from misuse and abuse.)

I thought about calling the apartment building management, or going and talking to them in person, and saying to them that they have got to get rid of the people in this apartment, evict the lease holder once and for all.  I think that it would have probably turned into an argument, with me threatening to leave, or the apartment management suggesting that I leave, because they are tired of hearing about it.

I think that there is so much crime in downtown Dickinson now, there are so many low income and inner city ghetto people that have moved to Dickinson recently, that the property managers and the Police are overwhelmed, they don’t know what to do, or how to handle it.

I asked the homeowner where I used to live in Dickinson, if I could come back and live with him in an emergency, because I can foresee getting into an argument with the property management, where they will ask me to leave.  He is partly sympathetic, because he knows that my truck and all of the property in my truck would never had gotten stolen if he would have allowed me to keep my truck parked at his house.

When I think about renting an apartment elsewhere in Dickinson, what I am certain of, is that I sure as hell am not going to pay more money to live in a newer apartment building in Dickinson, and still be around apartments where people sell and use drugs.  The new apartment buildings are at 50% occupancy, they will rent to anyone, and there are so many lower income and inner city ghetto people that have recently moved to Dickinson, that I don’t see how I can ever escape the crime and drug dealing in Dickinson by renting any apartment in Dickinson.

Note:  I want to explain why I associate all of this crime in Dickinson with low income people and inner city ghetto people who have recently moved to Dickinson.

People who spent a lot of time and money to obtain a college degree, or worked their way up to management level, or professional level, or have enough demonstratable skill and experience to have a good paying job, these people all know better than to jeopardize all of their hard work by attempting to steal things out of people’s vehicles, garages, and homes.  To get caught with a stolen vehicle, trailer, or equipment.  Also, they are usually capable of buying the things that they want, rather than taking the foolish and unnecessary risk of stealing things.

It is mostly low income and inner city ghetto people that look at the risk of being caught, convicted, and sentenced for trying to steal a phone or laptop out of a vehicle, or valuables out of someone’s home, as being worth the risk.  The risk of them spending 30 days in jail, or one year in prison, is worth the $200 to $400 they might receive from stealing something from someone’s vehicle or burglarizing a home.

Ups, Downs, And Very Bad Times With Employment In Dickinson, North Dakota

I first came to work in Dickinson, North Dakota in 2011.  I went to work in Texas in 2012, and then I came back to work in Dickinson in 2013.  I have been here for the past five years.

I have had ups, downs, and very bad times with employment in Dickinson, North Dakota.  My friends and acquaintances have had a worse time than I have had, many of them have had to leave Dickinson and North Dakota.

My problems with employment in Dickinson have never been about the hourly wage rate that I was paid.  So I want job seekers in Dickinson to keep in mind, not to focus solely on what wage rates a company is offering, but to pay attention to other things about the company.

Year 2017, was one of my worst years of employment in Dickinson, North Dakota.  The problems that I faced, are something that job seekers in Dickinson should know about.

I have been employed with the same small company in Dickinson for the past four years.  Sometimes this company pays very, very well when it has a project that I can work on.  Sometimes this company does not have a project that I can work on, so I go look for other jobs at other companies that I can do part time or full time.

I want to emphasize several reasons why I continue to work for this small company in Dickinson, that does not always have work for me.  One, sometimes it pays very, very well, like as much as $8,000 per month.  Two, the owner of the company leaves everyone alone, it is totally up to the employee to do their job, the owner does not check on the employees, the employees are on their own.  Three, I like this type of work very much.  Four, due to the nature of the work, the company owner, and the other employees, there are usually no work conflicts of any kind.  Five, I have usually been able to find a 2nd or 3rd job outside of this job when necessary, to make enough money.

The reason why I had such a bad year in 2017, was because the small company that I was working for did not have a project to put me on at the start of the year, and two of the other companies that I went to work for in 2017, were very bad companies.

The first new company that I went to work for in 2017, as far as I had heard, it was a good company, they had a lot of work, and they were branching out into different areas.  On my very first day of work, when I got to work at 4:30 a.m., right away it turned out to be the most disorganized, mismanaged company that I had ever worked for.  My gut instinct was to walk away from this company right then, and I might have been better off if I had done just that, and found a job with a different company.

The biggest problem with this company, turned out to be, that they didn’t pay all the wages that were owed.  I was missing a lot of money out of my second, and my third pay check.  I found out that there were already about four complaints with the Department of Labor against this company for non-payment of wages.

After the fact, I found out that if I would have asked other people working in the oil field, I would have heard not to go to work for this company.  Don’t believe what you read in the Dickinson Press newspaper about companies in Dickinson, what they write is sometimes almost the same thing as a paid for advertisement, rather than the truth.

What I learned, is that prospective employees should probably call the North Dakota Department of Labor to see how many complaints there are against a company.  Also, prospective employees should look the company owner and the company managers up on the North Dakota Court Repository website to see what lawsuits have been filed against them, and what criminal records they have.

The second new company that I went to work for in Dickinson in 2017, was a very long established company in Dickinson.  Some of my co-workers were agreeable, and some of my co-workers were unfriendly.  It turned out, that many of this company’s work projects were being completed, and as Winter was approaching, all of the workers were worried about being laid off.  Each worker was worried about being let go, though they wanted to stay on as long as possible, maybe even being one of the few people who kept their job through the Winter.  This was one of the reasons why some workers were uncooperative with each other, Winter lay offs were coming.

This second new company for me in 2017, due to a mistake, they shorted me a couple hundred dollars on several pay checks, and I quit because I was so angry about it.  But one of the reasons why I was so angry, was the day that I found out that I had been shorted so much money on my pay checks, a foreman who was not my foreman, was giving me a hard time, and there were several reasons why this was wrong.

It was a while after I quit, before I thought to look up on the internet who this foreman was.  This foreman had been charged in Arizona with 1st degree murder, armed robbery, drug charges, fleeing the police, and DUI, in multiple different cases.  On his company job application where it asked, “Have you ever been charged or convicted of any crime?”, I wonder if he wrote down “Yes, 1st degree murder, armed robbery, fleeing and eluding police, DUI, possession of drugs and paraphernalia.”

I then looked up other foremen at this company on the North Dakota Court Repository, and some of them had pretty bad criminal records, and always drug charges.  It then kind of fell into place, like the pieces of a puzzle, the way that people behaved, and the things that they did, that it was kind of a criminal and drug culture at this company.  So again I recommend to prospective employees, to look up the company owners and managers on the internet, and on the North Dakota Court Repository website to see what lawsuits and criminal charges they have had.

Just as it was becoming Winter in 2017, I was being hired at a company in New Town, North Dakota, which is about 100 miles north of Dickinson.  I had made this drive before on Hwy 22 going north to New Town for work, and it is not an easy drive.  You have to go through the Killdeer Mountains through an area called “The Breaks”, up steep hills, down steep hills, and around corners through the mountains.

I thought that this job paid $17 per hour, for about 12 hours per day, which is $204 per day.  It didn’t, it paid $15 per hour, for 8 hours per day, which is only $120 per day.  I was in trouble. I was willing to drive the 100 miles up to New Town, and probably having to drive back each day, to work 12 hours and make $204 each day.  But I couldn’t afford to do this for only $120 per day.  After taxes were taken out, and paying for gas, I would only have about $65 per day left, not enough to pay all of my bills.

I didn’t know what I was going to do.  Jobs get scarce in North Dakota once it becomes Winter.  I was thinking that I was going to have to sleep in my pickup truck in New Town, I couldn’t afford the $35 in gas each day to drive up from Dickinson and back.  It costs $10 to take shower at the truck stop in New Town, but where was I going to park and sleep in my truck without getting chased off?

When I was trying to figure out what I was going to do, the owner of the small company that I had been working for, for the past four years called, and he asked me if I wanted to, or would I be able to work 48 hours per week on a project, and I said that yes I would.

Out of nowhere, just by chance, I got a pretty good paying work assignment.  Not long after that, I had been stalling paying my Year 2016 income taxes by filing an extension, and I found out that I owed $2,000 in income taxes.  Plus I had vehicle insurance, homeowners insurance, and property taxes back in Idaho all due at about that time.

I hadn’t known how bad of a financial position I was in, I had been trying not to think about it.  I had not made much money at the first and the second new company that I went to work for in Dickinson, and the third company in New Town was a fail too.  I was really lucky that the company owner where I had been working called me to ask me if I could work on a project.

One of the reasons why I wrote this blog post, is to tell job seekers in Dickinson, that you can really get yourself into financial trouble in Dickinson by going to work for the wrong company.  A company in Dickinson may offer an attractive hourly wage rate, but this will mean nothing if you can’t work at that company for very long.  Beware, a human resources person or the person hiring you may lead you to believe that you can work for their company year round, in order to get you to take the job, however they may lay off most of their workers in October and November.

Remember, the first company that I went to work for in 2017, not only was it a horribly run company, they shorted me a couple of hundred dollars on each pay check.  It took me a while to get a job at a second company in 2017, and again this company shorted me a couple of hundred dollars on each pay check.  It took me a while to get a job with a third company in 2017, but this job didn’t pay nearly enough due to the number of hours per day and the long commute distance.  Having three bad jobs in a row like this, can lead to financial ruin.

What one of my readers pointed out to me in a comment, was that I would have been better off if I had just gone to work at WalMart in Dickinson for $15 per hour.  She was right, I would have been better off just going to work at WalMart.

The Model Of Women That I Learned Growing Up

What began my thinking towards writing this blog post, were two things that happened yesterday.  First, in the afternoon I went to a local business in Dickinson where the owner’s wife was working.  She is often in a bad mood, and not very friendly.  She can act this way if she wants to, I suppose, because she and her husband own this business.

Lately, I am often in bad mood myself, and I don’t feel well, I am just getting over pneumonia.  When I entered this business yesterday, the owner’s wife was in a particularly bad mood, looking and sounding unfriendly, and that is kind of an understatement.  I thought that maybe I should leave, and just never come back when she is working.  I didn’t want this to become a business that I can not use any longer, due to getting into an altercation with the owner’s wife.

I began to consider that there are other businesses in Dickinson that provide the same thing, so if it came to it, I could just go elsewhere, not the end of the world.  During the time that I was there, I noticed that there were not any other customers, and I could think of at least one reason why this was the case.

Readers of my blog posts have probably seen me write at least ten times, that I do not go out to bars and restaurants in Dickinson because the waitresses and women staff are unattractive, mean, and crazy, and the Police in Dickinson try as hard as they can to arrest people for DUI.  There is no where to go and nothing to do in Dickinson, and because of the Police trying to stop everyone, I just stay in my apartment.

About the only thing that I have to do, is look up things on the internet.  I have begun watching a lot of YouTube videos, whatever YouTube presents to me that looks interesting, I will watch it.  Yesterday I watched a video titled “Ah, Leah”, which is a music video that showed a compilation of women wearing bikinis.

I thought that this video was funny, because it reminded me of how things were living in Florida up until I was about 32 years old.  Though the women in the “Ah, Leah” video seem very attractive now, because I have been living in North Dakota for so long, these women in the video are just average women that you would see every day in Florida.

When I was growing up and going to school in Florida, in elementary, middle school, and high school, there were very few girls that were very unattractive, or very overweight.  It was a combination of genetics, environment, and culture.  It was relatively warm all year long, so most kids and adults were always doing activities outdoors.  People in the community where I lived, which was on the ocean and the intercoastal waterway, were fairly healthy and active.

Also, part of the culture in Florida, where it was warm all year, and people go to the ocean, rivers, and lakes throughout the year, women wanted to look nice in bathing suits.  Women wanted to look good to attract the attention of men, to be invited places, to be taken out, to date, and to possibly become married in the future.

Another reason why women wanted to look good, was because they wanted to be invited to socialize with other women.  Women naturally recognize the importance of networking, social networks, and the advantages of being accepted and liked by other women.  It may seem a mean thing to say, but I have noticed this to be true everywhere that I have ever been, women try to seek out attractive women to be friends with, because they see this as advantageous to them.

Women see and believe that the best looking women have access to the best looking men, the most successful men, the men with the best connections, the best employment opportunities, the most glamorous employment opportunities, offers for travel, offers to attend exclusive events and parties, and opportunities to meet and socialize with wealthy, influential people.  Women in Florida just looked at it as an all around good idea to stay in shape, and to look healthy and attractive.

When I was a kid, this was in the 1970s, many people went to the beach on the weekends or they went boating.  My mother did not like to go the beach so much when I was a kid, though when she was younger, before I was born, she liked to.  I think that this was primarily because my mother had gained weight in her 40s, and she did not feel comfortable being seen in a bathing suit by everyone.

My mother did like to go boating when I was young, so this is what we did on the weekends with other families.  Younger families usually started out boating with an eighteen foot ski boat, or multi purpose fishing boat.  On Saturday afternoon, the families would go out on the intercoastal river and travel several miles down the river to meet up at an island or a sand bar.

All of the families brought an ice chest or two, filled with soft drinks, beer, wine, snacks, and sandwiches.  The adults would park their beach chairs in several inches of water, and sit down to bullshit, catch up on news, unwind, and get drunk.

The kids could all run around like wild animals on the sand bars, screaming and yelling, because there was no where they could go, you could see them, and there wasn’t much that they could get hurt on.  On the islands, the kids would go exploring, especially if you told them that there were wild horses, or a hermit, or something.

There would typically be about thirty people parked at one spot on a sand bar or an island.  The group of friends and acquaintances, some of them had gone all the way through school together, sometimes even college.  They usually had social and business involvement together in the community.  Typically, someone would bring a new person with them, who was a friend, relative, co-worker, or business associate, who they thought would enjoy everything.

The group that my parents were friends with, and associated with for practically their entire lives, were real estate agents and brokers, insurance agents and company owners, appraisers, accountants, CPAs, attorneys, pilots, nurses, sales reps, contractors, business owners, and a few trades people.  I will go ahead and show the video now of the women in bikinis, because when I was a kid, this is how the women, wives, and mothers looked:

Yup, the real estate agents, insurance agents, accountants, school teachers, attorneys, sales reps, nurses, and wives looked like this at the beach and out boating when I was a kid in Florida in the 1970s.  I didn’t know that this was unusual, I just took it for granted.

When some women, wives, and mothers got to be in their late 30s or 40s, they didn’t want to go to the beach anymore, or boating anymore.  Their view on life completely changed.  They once loved the sun, the water, wearing hardly any clothes, and getting drunk on the weekends, but they changed completely.

I want to explain the departure in women, where some women kept right on going like they always had, and some women completely changed.

There were some women, especially real estate brokers and agency owners, who kept right on going like they always had, enjoying every weekend, partying, and having a good time, into their sixties.  Other women in their late 30s or 40s, they retreated into their homes, not coming outside, refusing to go anywhere, and preferring to stand at their kitchen counter trying to give orders to their children and husbands, seemingly trying to unnecessarily make everyone else unhappy, because they were unhappy.

When I was in my teens, and would go to the beach or boating, there were some women, wives, and mothers, who were in their 40s, who were still good looking, friendly, fun, and were nice to be around.  There were some married men who had taken up with unofficial younger girlfriends, some men who had become divorced who had younger girlfriends, and some men who had remarried to younger women.

In general, myself, my older sister, my father, my mother, and all of the men and women who continued to enjoy going to the beach, boating, sailing, and flying, we all completely understood why men who were married took up with younger girlfriends, or became divorced and took up with younger girlfriends, once their wife who was in her late 30s or 40s, refused to come outside or go anywhere, and instead wanted to spoil everyone’s good time.

I could say that I don’t know what happens, where you start out with a young 120 lb girlfriend or wife, who likes swimming in the ocean or river, water skiing, being wrestled with and thrown around in the waves while squealing with glee, wearing hardly any or no clothes, boating, sailing, sports cars, and motorcycles, and she later changes into someone who refuses to go anywhere and do anything, and instead wants to be nasty to everyone, glaring, sneering, scowling, trying to stare people down and start fights, but I suppose that I do know what happens.

What I Mean By Bullshit Sales Jobs

In my previous blog post, I wrote about what jobs were listed this month of April for Dickinson, North Dakota, on the North Dakota Job Services website, and the Indeed.com website.  I categorized some of these job listings as “bullshit sales jobs”, where you are led to believe that you can make a certain amount in sales commissions, but you never receive these commissions.

I have had only a few jobs where part of my pay was supposed to come from sales commissions, but several long time friends of mine have had more experience with this.  It is true, that some sales professionals who represent industrial companies that have $50 million or more in annual sales, these sales representatives can and do sometimes make $200,000 per year.

I will try to explain what many or most sales jobs truly are.  A company that provides a product or service, can advertise in newspapers, magazines, trade journals, on television, radio, the internet, through mailings, and at trade shows.  But another important way to reach customers, is to have an individual sales representative telephone and meet prospective customers in person.

Companies hire very experienced sales people, who likely have a background and education in business and marketing, to be their sales manager, or part of the company management team.  The sales manager, or the company management team, know that having sales representatives is not just about making sales, but it is about marketing, advertising, publicity, and creating an interest and familiarity with the product line or services.

The sales manager, or the management team, are interested in recruiting sales representatives not just to make sales, but to perform marketing, advertising, product education, and customer support, whether the sales representatives know this or not.

Companies like to hire young, idealistic, ambitious, hard working, articulate, and nice looking college graduates for sales representative positions, in order to make a good impression with the public.  They hire older professional people too, who fit this description.  The base salary may only be $12 per hour, which is about $24,000 per year.

A young college graduate, or an older professional person, would not even consider taking a $24,000 per year job, they wouldn’t even apply for a job like this, they would keep looking for a job that paid at least $40,000 per year.

Companies inform job seekers that the base pay is $24,000 per year, but typically a sales representative with their company earns about $50,000 per year through their sales commissions, some sales representatives with their company make $70,000 or $80,000.

Newly hired sales representatives may be given the option to drive their own personal vehicle and be reimbursed for mileage, or they may be provided with a company vehicle.  It will all be explained what their sales territory is, whether this is an exclusive territory, or if they share it with other company sales representatives.  Or, it will be explained what accounts or customers the sales representative is assigned, and what the expectations are for new customers.

A new sales representative, after making all of the cold calls, following up on leads, driving to all the customers on his route, and meeting new customers in his territory, may find that he makes no sales or few sales in his first month.  The sales manager may give the new sales representative a pep talk, about how everyone starts out slow, or about getting customers into the pipeline.

The second and the third month may not be much different, no sales or few sales.  However, by this time, the new sales representative may start to catch on to what is happening.  The news sale rep may learn, that all of the major existing customers in the territory such as a public school system, hospital chain, automobile dealership line, or heavy equipment line, these accounts and orders are all being serviced by the sales manager.

Next, the new sales rep may learn, that having discussed the product or service with a customer or business in his territory, the customer or business has telephoned the company he represents, and is now dealing with the sales manager or someone else at the company.  Customers and businesses sometimes enjoy speaking to the “owner, the people in charge, the people at headquarters, someone more important”, because they think that this is just better.

At about the third or fourth month at a bullshit sales job, it will begin to dawn on a new sales rep, that all they are doing, is driving around, telephoning, and talking to the few prospective customers that the company does not already have, just trying to comb through what has already been picked, for possible crumbs.  What they really are, is an unwitting marketing, advertising, public relations, and customer service rep who is only being paid $12 per hour.

Furthermore, how did the sales manager end up with the public school system account, the hospital chain account, the automobile manufacturer dealership account, the heavy equipment manufacturer account? How many sales representatives have there been before, what happened to them, and how long did they work here?

In the end, a new sales rep will discover that each sales rep before him, lasted three months to one year.  As each new sales rep realized that they had been lied to and were being cheated, they left, and the sales manager scooped up for himself, whatever business or accounts the most recently departed sales rep had discovered.

In summary, many or most of the sales jobs listed, are bullshit sales jobs, where the salesmen will never be paid the commissions they are told are typical.  The true purpose of these sales positions is marketing, advertising, public relations, customer service, and finding a few remaining crumbs in a sales territory that has already been picked.  Inevitably, the sales manager will receive the benefit of whatever new business or customers that a new sales rep discovers.

One way to discover that what I am describing is true, look at the local job listings in your area, and make note of the sales rep job listings.  When you see a company advertising for sales reps, every three months, for year after year, you have got to wonder why do their sales reps keep quitting after three or four months?
