Elena Lev, was born in Moscow, Russia in 1981.  Her mother Elena Lev Sr., began training her to become a rhythmic gymnast at an early age.  She developed hula hoop performances incorporating gymnastics, ballet, and contortion.

When she was 13 years old, in 1994, she was invited to join the Alegria touring troupe of Cirque du Soleil.  She performed with this troupe until 2000.

I am not very interested in women’s gymnastics, but, I have always admired the discipline, strength, dedication, toughness, and fearlessness of the best women gymnasts and dancers.  It is such an illusion, that the most graceful women, are actually the most physically and mentally toughest and strongest.

In the video below, this is probably the best example of female physical perfection that you or I will ever see.  Elena may have only been 14 at the time of this video.

I was amazed by this video.  Elena was so incredible and enchanting, it is like she is otherworldly, which is the impression Cirque du Soleil wanted to create.

I agree with these comments.  These commentors and myself, recognize that we will ever only see a performance like this once our lifetimes.
