I Got Scabies In Dickinson North Dakota

NOTE: Scabies is a highly infectious, highly contagious, hard to get rid of infection. This is a very serious medical condition. In order to provide people the most help, I am going to begin by telling what happened and what I did to treat it as quickly as possible. Later, I will explain a few details.

On about Thursday 5/1/25 I noticed what appeared to be an insect bite or spider bite below my neck. The following day this bite mark was worse, it had formed two small pustules. On Saturday 5/3/25 this bite mark was even worse, and two other similar bite marks had spread up to my shoulder. A rash began to appear on my left shoulder, chest, and neck.

Because of the rash, bumps, and pustules that were forming and spreading, I believed that this was Scabies. I spent about an hour on the internet reading about Scabies. One of the biggest identifiers, was that many of these bumps were forming in straight lines, a tell-tale sign of Scabies. I am not going to waste time now explaining the additional research that I did.

Scabies is a variety of microscopic mite, that burrow underneath a person’s skin and lay eggs. Currently the two main treatments for Scabies are Ivermectin, and Permethrin, both of these require a Doctor’s prescription. It has always been my experience in Dickinson that if you try to make an appointment with a Doctor, you will be told the next available appointment is 4-6 weeks away. I couldn’t wait that long, this Scabies infection was spreading very quickly on me, and forming unsightly red bumps and pustules on my skin.

I went to a store in Dickinson that sells Ivermectin. I want to be very clear, do your research on what you are going to buy BEFORE you go to one of these stores. Know what it is that you want before you go. Do Not Ever Tell Or Even Hint To Anyone At These Stores That This Is For Human Use, Then They Can’t Sell It To You.

For $29, I bought a bottle of Ivermectin for Topical Treatment on Cattle. I deliberately bought the Topical Treatment versus the Oral Paste, because I wanted to apply the Ivermectin directly onto the infected areas of my skin. On these bottles of Topical Treatment on Cattle, the dosage is typically 5 mL per 100 lbs of body weight.

On Saturday May 3 I applied 7 mL of Ivermectin to the infected areas on my neck, shoulders, and chest using Q-tip swabs, and to other uninfected areas using a medical glove. On Sunday I applied 10 mL of Ivermectin using Q-tip swabs and a medical glove. I slightly overdosed myself with this 17 mL Total of Ivermectin.

This Topical Ivermectin that I applied directly to the infected areas of my skin, was also supposed to be absorbed into my bloodstream and kill the Scabies through Ivermectin being in my blood. The Ivermectin that Doctors prescribe, is usually an oral medication.

On surfaces, Bleach and Lysol are supposed to disinfect and kill Scabies, but everything I read stated that you can’t use Bleach or Lysol on people. Bullshit. One of the problems with treating people for Scabies is that even if they receive an effective dose of Ivermectin or Permethrin, there are still Scabies mites on their sheets, blankets, pillow cases, furniture, towels, and their own skin. Beginning Sunday 5/4/25, I sat in a bathtub with Ajax Cleaner With Bleach and applied it to my skin and let it stay on for at least five minutes. I wanted to kill ALL the Scabies mites on my skin.

When I got out of the bathtub after using Ajax Cleaner With Bleach to get all the Scabies mites off my skin, I used a bath towel ONE TIME, and then washed it in a washing machine with hot water. I removed all my pillow cases, sheets, mattress pad, blanket, pillows, and washed them all in hot water. Twice a day Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday I took a bath using Ajax Cleaner With Bleach.

I was very, very lucky, most of my Scabies welts and infection sites began to dry up on Tuesday 5/6/25, and there was no spread of rash or new sites. I will have to apply another 17 mL of Ivermectin Topical next Saturday in order to prevent reinfection from the hatching of Scabies eggs that were already laid under my skin.

Normally it takes at least one week for there to be any indication that Ivermectin or Permethrin treatment is working. I think that my use of Ajax Cleaner With Bleach all over my body helped quite a bit not only to kill Scabies mites on the surface of my skin, but I think that it probably adversely affected the mites that had borrowed under my skin.

I feel that women with multiple children would have had a horrible time keeping everyone in the family from becoming infected. Scabies is highly contagious, and very hard to get rid of. I telephoned the Stark County Health Department on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to report this and explain where I think that I contracted Scabies, but the Nursing Director was absent every time I was transferred to her.

My next Blog Post will explain more.

  1. Great info on the scabies. I’ve never bothered to learn anything about them. I guess Ive been very fortunate to never have been I infected. I use a pair of 20.00 barber clippers from Wally world to shave my own head. Not because of bugs, but it’s silly for me to pay 20.00 , with tip for a high and tight hair cut. Rest assured, I will avoid barbers forever after reading your post.

    1. It’s good to hear from you again.
About a week ago I was watching TikTok videos and there was a Jewish middle-class girl from New York/New Jersey named LeAnne who recently began dating a New Boyfriend. She started itching, and asked her new boyfriend about it, he said, “He had this skin rash that wasn’t going away or responding to treatment.” He didn’t tell her what this rash was, she went through his stuff, and found this Permethren (sp?) cream. She went to her all-female ObGyn clinic, and the staff and Doctor freaked-the-fuck-out bc about the only thing Permethren is prescribed for is Scabies.
When LeAnne confronted her new boyfriend with this, he admitted he had Scabies. He then asked her if she wanted to go to a Spas with him. (A Spas would be a place where the staff personnel and patrons would probably contract Scabies from him.)
In the comments, LeAnne and others explained once you get Scabies, you’ve got to sterilize everything in your house, your clothes, furniture, bedding or you’ll never get rid of it.
